This study investigates children’s trust in two humanoid robots, Nao and iCub, through a cooperative game designed to elicit spontaneous behaviors and group dynamics. We investigate whether participants change their choices after hearing advice from a robot, considering rounds where the advice is correct or incorrect, with the robot apologizing for its mistakes. Results reveal that, in most cases, participants prefer not to change their moves after the robot’s advice. Additionally, after the robots made mistakes, participants are less likely to actively follow their advice and more likely to reject it. No significant differences in strategies among the iCub and Nao samples are evidenced. Furthermore, we examine the influence of group dynamics, identifying "Proactive Players" who consistently initiated moves. A significant association between the strategies of this player and their teammates is found, suggesting potential influence. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Cloud services are experiencing a remarkable increase in the number of users and the resource required over the past few years. Thus, it has become a great challenge for the internet vendors to make a robust framework to serve the customers with low cost and delay. Congestion control is one of the essential topics of routing algorithms in cloud data center networks. In this paper, we propose a weighted optimal scheduling scheme WSPR for congestion control in cloud data center networks which prevents the congestion in advance with the global view so that it can make good use of vacant network resources. We choose BCube as our network model and modify the network topology to fit software-defined networks so as to have a full view of the topology. First, we design the SP graph which contains all shortest paths between a source server and a destination server. Second, we propose WSPR to allocate the most appropriate path to each flow for congestion control. We implement a system to simulate a data center, and evaluate our proposed scheme WSPR by comparing WSPR with other classical methods. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed scheme WSPR has the best performance in terms of the maximum delay, average delay, and throughput among all compared methods. © 2008-2012 IEEE.

This research proposes the assessment of banking and financial services using AI to monitor how banks apply AI approaches and the feedback they receive from customers. In order to better track, anticipate, and react to customer behavior, the financial information generated by the growing utilization of digital pay and banking can be mined by banks and other financial institutions. Based on research, secondary sources are reviewed to ascertain the data used in banking and financial services. A methodical survey is designed to gather the main information clients have regarding AI applications. The study is that private banks and other financial institutions use a variety of artificial intelligence (AI) services to better serve their clients and ensure that they are happy with their financial services, as some clients are not happy with banking services. Additionally, the results indicated that clients would be more committed to banking and financial services representatives by providing creative preparation for the advancement of AI practices in the workplace. © The Author(s).

In the current scenarios there is a lot of development in the networking sector. Additionally needed are quick operations and the capability to solve complex issues. From several technical angles, IoT is being promoted to meet these developments. Implementations of IoT confront difficulties in handling such enormous volume of data including issues with its Quality of Services (QoS) necessities, privacy with security and the variety of networking elements. In smart cities, a vast volume of data is generated through IoT devices. They need to be processed near the edge devices due to latency issues, especially in the case of critical data-sensitive applications. Fog computing, a new technological paradigm, delivers a collection of networking essential services nearer to the client than cloud computing does. Fog computing overrides the cloud computing in the areas such as networking infrastructure scalability, latency reduction, network service dependability, and network device security. The technical approach to provide the highest degree of computing service has advanced by contributing cloud-assisted network services nearer to the end user/customer level. Fog servers can malfunction in a variety of circumstances. In this study, we describe the fog system as a machine-repair problem, where repair work is performed at a certain pace as soon as the Virtual Machine (VM) malfunctions. To analyze the system, numerous numerical analyses have been conducted. © 2023 IEEE.

With tremendous efforts in developing effective e-commerce models, conventional e-commerce models show limited success in generalist e-commerce modeling, and suffer from unsatisfactory performance on new users and new products - a typical out-of-domain generalization challenge. Meanwhile, large language models (LLMs) demonstrate outstanding performance in generalist modeling and out-of-domain generalizability in many fields. Toward fully unleashing their power for e-commerce, in this paper, we construct ECInstruct, the first open-sourced, large-scale, and high-quality benchmark instruction dataset for e-commerce. Leveraging ECInstruct, we develop eCeLLM, a series of e-commerce LLMs, by instruction-tuning general-purpose LLMs. Our comprehensive experiments and evaluation demonstrate that eCeLLM models substantially outperform baseline models, including the most advanced GPT-4, and the state-of-the-art task-specific models in in-domain evaluation. Moreover, eCeLLM exhibits excellent generalizability to out-of-domain settings, including unseen products and unseen instructions, highlighting its superiority as a generalist e-commerce model. Both the ECInstruct dataset and the eCeLLM models show great potential in empowering versatile and effective LLMs for e-commerce. These days, sensors and cameras are being deployed on an increasingly large scale. Furthermore, the rapid development of machine learning models for computer vision now presents novel opportunities for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) combinations in various application scenarios. However, challenges remain in supporting low-latency video streaming from distributed mobile IoT devices under dynamic network environments, and overcoming video data quality degradation that results from weather 'noise', which reduces the accuracy of AI-based data analyses such as object detection. In this paper, we propose a live video stream processing system for supporting intelligent services that integrates the following features. First, to cope with dynamic networks and achieve low latency, our approach employs a peer-to-peer (P2P)-based virtual network at the edge and a multi-tiered architecture composed of IoT cameras, edge, and cloud servers. Second, we construct a flexible messaging system for video analysis built upon SINETStream, which is a messaging system that adopts a topic-based pub/sub model. Third, we implement a framework that can remove weather-related (rain, snow, and fog) noise by applying weather classification and adaptive noise removal models that improve the accuracy of video analysis from data collected outdoors. The latency, throughput, and image quality benchmark experiments conducted to validate the feasibility of our proposed system showed that the process resulted in image quality improvements of approximately 30% (on average). © 2021 IEEE.

Sarcasm is a form of sentiment characterized by the use of words that express the opposite of what is meant. Sarcasm detection has applications in multiple domains ranging from sentiment analysis in product reviews to user feedback, and online forums. Sarcasm detection is important to understand user opinions and intentions in areas such as sentiment-based classification and opinion mining. This can result in better product development and customer service. Sarcasm detection can be a challenging task because sarcastic sentences may use positive expressions to convey negative meanings or may use negative sentences to convey positive meanings. Also, sarcastic sentences form a very small component of the entire communication. The increasing use of sarcasm in various social media such as Twitter, Reddit, Amazon product reviews, etc. has highlighted the importance of detecting and understanding sarcasm in various contexts. Sarcasm detection is a challenging problem for NLP systems that often rely on statistical models for performing sentiment analysis. In this research, the focus is on the use of a textual entailment approach for detecting sarcasm. Textual entailment is a natural language inference task that involves determining whether one text (hypothesis) can be derived from another text (premise). The underlying assumption behind this approach is that - if there is a contradiction between the premise and hypothesis, we can say that the hypothesis is sarcastic. To test our approach, an annotated corpus of 3000 product reviews was developed methodically from the Amazon Reviews dataset and tested using the textual entailment approach. The proposed approach achieved an F1 score of 0.76 on this dataset. The result is better than the baseline considered which is the BERT binary classifier which gives an F1 score of 0.48 on the same dataset.

FC Portugal, a simulated humanoid soccer team from the universities of Porto and Aveiro, achieved the third consecutive victory in the main competition of the 2024 RoboCup 3D Simulation League. The team registered 16 wins, 3 ties, and 2 losses, scoring a total of 105 goals while only conceding 17. FC Portugal also ended first in two secondary events: the Scientific Challenge, which evaluates innovative scientific contributions within the league, and the Fat Proxy Challenge, where teams share a common set of low-level skills and compete for the best high-level strategy. The codebase used in this competition was developed in Python after RoboCup 2021. This paper presents a brief overview of its structure along with the new features developed for this year’s competition. The key developments include a hierarchical learning framework, presented at the Scientific Challenge, and the release of our codebase to the RoboCup community. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

The escalating visibility of secure direct object reference (IDOR) vulnerabilities in API security, as indicated in the compilation of OWASP Top 10 API Security Risks, highlights a noteworthy peril to sensitive data. This study explores IDOR vulnerabilities found within Android APIs, intending to clarify their inception while evaluating their implications for application security. This study combined the qualitative and quantitative approaches. Insights were obtained from an actual penetration test on an Android app into the primary reasons for IDOR vulnerabilities, underscoring insufficient input validation and weak authorization methods. We stress the frequent occurrence of IDOR vulnerabilities in the OWASP Top 10 API vulnerability list, highlighting the necessity to prioritize them in security evaluations. There are mitigation recommendations available for developers, which recognize its limitations involving a possibly small and homogeneous selection of tested Android applications, the testing environment that could cause some inaccuracies, and the impact of time constraints. Additionally, the study noted insufficient threat modeling and root cause analysis, affecting its generalizability and real-world relevance. However, comprehending and controlling IDOR dangers can enhance Android API security, protect user data, and bolster application resilience. © 2023 IEEE.
