Improved LSTM hyperparameters alongside sentiment walk-forward validation for time series prediction

This study aims to address the common issue of biased estimation errors in time series modeling by analyzing the error in locating ideal hyperparameters and defining appropriate validation methods. Specifically, it focuses on predicting the stock price of Bank Rakyat Indonesia using a combination of historical stock prices, technical indicators, exchange rates, and news sentiment data, while determining the optimal variables for deep learning models. Employing a deep learning-based Long-Short Term Memory (LSTM) model, the study optimizes hyperparameters alongside walk-forward validation for time series prediction. It explores different combinations of variables and adapts the sliding window approach to the context of the data. The results highlight the importance of optimizing hyperparameters and utilizing walk-forward validation for accurate time series prediction. The model incorporating historical stock prices and sentiment scores outperforms others, achieving an RMSE of 96.61 and MAE of 86.97. Incorporating sentiment scores reduces RMSE by 39.55 % compared to models using only historical stock prices, while adding technical indicators does not yield improvement. This study contributes to the field by addressing the issue of biased estimation errors in time series modeling, offering insights into the optimization of hyperparameters and validation methods for accurate predictions. It also underscores the significance of incorporating sentiment analysis alongside historical stock prices for improved forecasting accuracy. © 2024 The Authors

Soft skills competencies is a special skill by a person in the field of self-management. This competency is very much needed by higher education in getting a job in the era of industry 4.0 and society 5.0. Analysis of the impact of soft skills competencies is currently not widely carried out, even though the tracer study instrument for higher education already exists. Prediction of graduate readiness to enter the work world is very important for higher education. It is necessary to carry out further analysis in this regard. The focus of this research is to analyze the relationship between soft skills competencies and the absorption of graduates in getting a job before six months using the random forest algorithm. The results of the testing using confusion matrix in the development of this prediction model resulted an accuracy of 64%. © 2022 IEEE.

Let G be a simple and finite graph with vertex set V and edge set E. The local antimagic total labeling of G is a map from V ∪ E to the set of positive integers from 1 to |V| + |E| such that the weight of two adjacent vertices are distinct. The weight of a vertex v is calculated by the sum of the label of the vertex v and the labels of all edges incident to it. If the vertices of G is labelled by the smallest labels, that is, {1, 2,.., |V|}, then the such labeling is called local super antimagic total labeling. Thus, the local super antimagic total labeling induces a proper vertex coloring of G where the vertex v is colored by the weight of vertex v. The minimum number of colors taken over all colorings induced by super local antimagic total labeling of G, is called local super antimagic total chromatic number of graph G, and denoted by χlsat (G). In this paper, we consider the local super antimagic total chromatic number of some wheel related graphs such as fans, even gear graphs, and sun flower graphs. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Although interoperability has always been a priority in e-learning, conventional Learning Management Systems are mostly geared towards the Standards for Learning Objects exchange and the integration among systems. The contingency for integration with other web applications and data is hardly foreseen. This prevents them, nowadays, from being flexible to adapt to the Linked Data standards emergence and the advent of Semantic Web in general, unless they radically change orientation. In contrast, Wikis, followed by Content Management Systems, proved to be more versatile in complying with the Semantic Web and Linked Data standards. These advancements, together with their modular architecture, turn Wikis and CMSs into a decent choice for modern e-learning solutions. MediaWiki and Drupal were customized and deployed in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki to assess their potential in exposing the University's learning resources on the Web of Linked Data, in accordance with the Linked Universities Initiative. On the occasion of these two deployments, a thorough comparison of their platforms' potentials to function as Learning Management Systems took place and is presented on this paper.

Recent web advances and progress in technology enhanced pedagogies have outlined the important role of gaming within education. The advent of SemanticWeb and Linked Data, as well as, the availability of initiatives and infrastructures like that of DBpedia have facilitated the incorporation of gaming within educational knowledge bases. This paper presents a web game that uses datasets derived from Greek DBpedia. It is consisted of several different quiz types and it is used for educational purposes in native speakers. The application has a preliminary evaluation in primary education settings in north Greece. The evaluation results indicated its potential in the learning process.

Using digital literacy in the educational environment can make students more responsible and wiser in using and accessing technology. To find out how prepared the educational environment is in facing this digital era a study that aimed to determine whether there is a correlation between age and gender factors with the number of devices used in the online learning process was conducted at one of the private universities in West Jakarta. The results of this study can contribute to the model developments in both online and offline learning processes to increase student motivation. The data collection method used is qualitative with primary data from survey results, using non-probability sampling, and descriptive analysis. The sample of this study was students at that university with a total of 310 students. Based on the test results using the two-way ANOVA test on the SPSS tool, the result is 0.055. This value is above the significance value requirement of 0.05. The age and gender do not significantly affect device usage, with a Sig value of >0.05, and the simultaneous relationship between age and gender does not affect device usage. It can be concluded that digital literacy has been applied in that university which can be proven from the test results that 225 students out of 310 or 72.5% use more than one device in online learning activities. © 2024 IEEE.

This study investigates the relationship the courses achievement of undergraduate students in informatics mathematics curriculum. Social Network Analysis and Pearson product Moment Correlation Coefficient are used to determine which courses are significant important and influence predictors. Data collected is from the sample of 91 online report submitted by science graduated students who have graduated during the academic year 2010-2017. The results of the study indicate that Linear Algebra and Discrete mathematics are the highest score of weighted degree centrality as mathematics information technology is the highest score of betweenness centrality and English for informatics mathematics influence over the whole courses.

This paper purpose to combine the GDSS framework with AHP and Copeland Score Model. The framework model is used to ranking popular tourism object in Bali. Tourism became one of the main factors in the development of an area. One of the famous tourist destinations in Indonesia is the province of Bali. Bali becomes a world tourism destination because of its culture and there are hundreds of tourism objects in Bali spread in every district. Each tourist object has beautiful characteristics and panoramas but not all tourist object have a high level of visits. There is an deferences between one tourist objects with the other, affecting the number of tourist visits. To overcome these problems by knowing the characteristics each tourism object that is done through the ranking process. The assessment and ranking process involves various parties related to tourism objects such as tourism, community, academia, government, and entrepreneurs. The model used is the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) algorithm, which is used to rank tourism objects individually and combine ranking results, using the Copeland score model. In the Copeland score model, each object has a weight that is different from each other. The next ranking becomes a reference for improving the assessment criteria of each tourism object. The results showed that the tourism object of Uluwatu is the first rank, with an assessment of 8.1 and Taman Ayun obtaining the last rank with a value of 1. Analysis of sensitivity and risk by changing the characteristic weights on the criteria by giving a high point has an impact on ranking changes. © 2018 IEEE.

We evaluate the first-order approximation solution piecewise by first-order polynomial collocation with Quadrature scheme on second-type Fredholm integral equations. This discretization derived the formulation to solve the first order piecewise approximation equation in which the linear system was built. The SOR method was described as a linear solver in which its formulation was constructed and applied in this study. In order to obtain the approximation solutions, the combination of SOR iterative method with the first-order piecewise polynomial by collocation with quadrature scheme has shown that performance of SOR method is superior than Jacobi method in terms of number of iterations and time of completion. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
