In bacterial populations, cells are able to cooperate in order to yield complex collective functionalities. Interest in population-level cellular behaviour is increasing, due to both our expanding knowledge of the underlying biological principles, and the growing range of possible applications for engineered microbial consortia. The ability of cells to interact through small signalling molecules (a mechanism known as quorum sensing) is the basis for the majority of existing engineered systems. However, horizontal gene transfer (or conjugation) offers the possibility of cells exchanging messages (using DNA) that are much more information-rich. The potential of engineering this conjugation mechanism to suit specific goals will guide future developments in this area. Motivated by a lack of computational models for examining the specific dynamics of conjugation, we present a simulation framework for its further study. Service systems' business processes show the existence of mutual interaction between users. Running a particular business subdomain requires the role of each user. This role is in line with the concept contained in blockchain-based smart contracts. However, determining the subdomains that require smart contract coding is challenging in developing business processes that will run on the blockchain. We aim to determine the service-oriented business process (in the case of marketplace service) and the subdomain of the business process that requires smart contract coding. This article is essential because it shows how developing IT services without a smart contract differs from developing IT services with a smart contract. The main differences between developing services that need smart contracts and those that do not are that certain process can be run automatically and the record of activity in blockchain cannot be changed by anyone (tamper-proof). We outlined methods for designing marketplace business processes and defined subdomains to be encoded into smart contract code. After reviewing the three marketplace platforms, we determined eight subdomains of the marketplace business process. Two subdomains require smart contract coding from eight, namely the payment and complaint subdomains. © 2022 IEEE.

We study the effects of random fluctuations included in microscopic models for phase transitions on macroscopic interface flows. We first derive asymptotically a stochastic mean curvature evolution law from the stochastic Ginzburg-Landau model and develop a corresponding level set formulation. Secondly, we demonstrate numerically, using stochastic Ginzburg-Landau and Ising algorithms, that microscopic random perturbations resolve geometric and numerical instabilities in the corresponding deterministic flow.

Mathematical calculation of gamma rays interaction in bismuth gadolinium silicate glass using WinXCom program

The WO3 doped bismuth gadolinium silicate glass have been calculated using WinXCom program at the gamma energy range of 1 keV to 100 GeV in the concentration of WO3 = 0, 10, 20 and 30 mol%. The mass attenuation coefficient, the partial interaction and effective atomic number were investigated. The results of the photoelectric absorption, the μm and the Zeff show the similar trend and the absorption edges were observed at an energy lower than 100 keV. The result can be found the photoelectric absorption at low photon energy, the Compton scattering in the medium photon energy and the pair production effect has the main interaction at high photon energy. Furthermore, the Zeff show increasing the concentration of WO3 the values because of the atomic number of W replacing Si in the glass matrix. © 2022

Computational approach of alpha and proton interaction of gadolinium bismuth borate glass system using SRIM program

The purpose of this research is used to study the alpha and proton shielding characteristics of gadolinium bismuth borate glass with chemical compositions (80-x)B2O3: 5CaF2: 15Bi2O3: xGd2O3 (where × = 0, 5, 10, 15, and 20 mol%). The mass stopping power (MSP) and projected range (PR) have been calculated by SRIM program for the proton and alpha particles. From the calculation, it was found that the proton mass stopping power (PMSP) value and alpha mass stopping power (AMSP) values tended to decrease with increasing Gd2O3 concentration. From the analysis, adding the Gd2O3 content in the glass affects the structure which increase the alpha and proton shielding properties. Likewise, the values of proton projected range (PPR) and alpha projected range (APR) were found to decrease with increasing Gd2O3 content. From the analysis, adding the Gd2O3 content to the glass affect the increase in the alpha and proton shielding properties. These results suggest that gadolinium bismuth borate glass is suitable to develop as alpha and proton shielding materials. © 2022

In this study, we present a new heuristic for the multi-stream multi-source multicast routing problem. The core of the heuristic proposed in this study is based on a generalisation of Voronoi diagrams in graphs. It allows building the trees needed to serve the demands of multiple sessions efficiently. Also, the proposed algorithm supports multiple sources. We performed an extensive experimental analysis of different network and problem configurations such as the number of sessions, nodes, sources and participants per session. We compare the proposed algorithm to heuristics proposed previously. The results of the experiments showed that the heuristic proposed in this study finds high-quality solutions efficiently. © 2018 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

This article begins with an attempt to contextualize the use of digital media and computation in works related to cultural heritage, in Portugal, in the frame of the regulations and policies that have been developed internationally and nationally. It then develops on the contextualization of the implementation of digitalization strategies regarding museum's collections in Portugal and its struggles both to implement these strategies as well as to invest in the creation and implementation of applications of digital tools for audience's engagement. Following some examples that have been developed for different purposes such as preservation, cataloguing, education and teaching, in different fields of cultural heritage such as archeology, ethnology, natural and historical sites, the article will then focus on the contributions of the more recent uses of technology to enhance or create interactive heritage experiences in cultural heritage, such as, photogrammetry, 3D modelling, and movement analysis. Finally, the last part of this article explores a proposal of gamification of intangible cultural heritage, portraying the winter festivity Carnival of Podence inscribed, in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, in December 2019. © 2021 AISTI.

A new VGOS (VLBI Global Observing System) radio telescope will be constructed at Bosscha Observatory Lembang, West Java, in cooperation between Shanghai Astronomical Observatory (SHAO) and Institut Teknologi Bandung. One of the preparation steps is to conduct RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) measurements to obtain the RFI environment from the vicinity of the observatory. In this work, we report preliminary measurements of the RFIs that were done for several days in August and September 2023. Instruments used includes: A-INFOTM LB-20180 horn antenna, Wright TechnologiesTM low noise amplifier, and AaroniaTM Spectran V5 80200 OEM spectrum analyzer. The frequency range of 2.0 - 18.0 GHz is targeted referring to VGOS frequencies. Measurements in one day are carried out for about 24 hours in eight cardinal directions and two polarizations. The results and analysis are presented in spectral power flux density plots. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Indonesia is a country with a vast archipelago and rich biodiversity, particularly in the province of Aceh. However, challenges are often encountered when exploring biodiversity due to limited information access. Providing a comprehensive source of information in this context is therefore important. This study is aimed to design and develop the Aceh Biodiversity Application, which was designed for Android-based mobile devices. In our implementation, the waterfall model is used as development method to build the application which are consisted of two core elements including the back-end REST API and the front-end Android application. The application also uses three different roles to differentiate the access, those are contributors, testers, and administrators. Finally, the functionalities testing were applied using black-box testing after the development phase. In addition, the usability testing was performed using the Post Study Usability Questionnaire (PSSUQ) method. The PSSUQ results showed the efficiency of the application, with an average usability score of 5.85, signifying a high level of usability. © 2023 IEEE.
