Cause-effect graphs are a commonly used black-box testing method, and many different algorithms for converting system requirements to cause-effect graph specifications and deriving test case suites have been proposed. However, in order to test the efficiency of black-box testing algorithms on a variety of cause-effect graphs containing different numbers of nodes, logical relations and dependency constraints, a dataset containing a collection of cause-effect graph specifications created by authors of existing papers is necessary. This paper presents CEGSet, the first collection of existing cause-effect graph specifications. The dataset contains a total of 65 graphs collected from the available relevant literature. The specifications were created by using the ETF-RI-CEG graphical software tool and can be used by future authors of papers focusing on the cause-effect graphing technique. The collected graphs can be re-imported in the tool and used for the desired purposes. The collection also includes the specification of system requirements in the form of natural language from which the cause-effect graphs were derived where possible. This will encourage future work on automatizing the process of converting system requirements to cause-effect graph specifications. © 2023 IEEE.

Many different methods are used for generating blackbox test case suites. Test case minimization is used for reducing the feasible test case suite size in order to minimize the cost of testing while ensuring maximum fault detection. This paper presents an optimization of the existing test case minimization algorithm based on forward-propagation of the cause-effect graphing method. The algorithm performs test case prioritization based on test case strength, a newly introduced test case selection metric. The optimized version of the minimization algorithm was evaluated by using thirteen different examples from the available literature. In cases where the existing algorithm did not generate the minimum test case subsets, significant improvements of test effect coverage metric values were achieved. Test effect coverage metric values were not improved only in cases where maximum optimization was already achieved by using the existing algorithm. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents the development of proof of concept for a low-cost, real-time Cyber Physical System (CPS)/IoT that deals with observed excess braking issues in Formula Student (FS) race cars. The goal is to utilize telemetry aspects through a smart monitoring system under the FS low budget competition restrictions, with low-cost materials, open-source software, Long Range wireless communication (LoRa) and cloud services. The paper also introduces an algorithm for implementing an adaptive sampling rate based on the proximity of monitored parameters to warning levels to minimize unnecessary data transmission. The system prototype was tested under realistic driving conditions, obtaining useful preliminary data that can be used to guide both driving behavior and future vehicle design. The results demonstrate that the proposed approach can be useful for the race team in FS conditions and may be possible to expand it to other similar driving scenarios outside FS. © 2023 IEEE.

Management and information systems are considered two major disciplines that have to be combined to benefit from knowledge for rational decision-making which means strict procedures utilizing objective knowledge and logic for many years. Effective and efficient use of already invested organizational resources is a key subject to gain a competitive advantage by making decisions with the help of AI techniques which benefit from both internal and external knowledge. This paper introduces a new model to get benefits from open-source intelligence (OSINT) in the context of external knowledge with a green computing approach for solving global organizational challenges in the scope of Society 5.0. This research has a dual background, theoretical and practical. Problem defining and hypothesis formulation was carried out by literature review. Then, the application developed according to the proposed model was put into action in some organizations for testing, and feedback from experts who participated in the proof of concept (POC) activities was evaluated and discussed empirically. Finally, the findings of our research, the advantages of our model, and both academic and business future work were summarized. It has been practically determined that the model and application we have developed are largely successful in line with our hypotheses. However, the weaknesses and advantages of our study were also revealed. Our research is the first study that combines Management Information Systems and Open-Source Intelligence disciplines with the approach of Society 5.0 to support SMEs in analyzing open-source information to build better decision-making mechanisms. The developed application in this study can also be applied to solving other green distributed computing needs in different domains. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

A first attempt in the construction of a modular, low-cost, various microcontroller-based computer system, with the ability to implement many different educational and industry scenarios. Special care has been taken so the whole lab exercises are team based, motivational, DIY for the most time, keep the audience intrigued so their learning is most efficient and pleasant. Arduino, ESP32 & 8266, Raspberry Pi, and ARM Cortex-M (STM32), micro-controllers and more in future, add-on shields, sensors, actuators, some components, and measurement devices are the partners in crime that motivate the students to be involved in the whole project. All exercises look simply but are based in the context that the students must combine knowledge from different engineering, scientific and computational methodology. As a new concept, it will be tested this year and the outcome next year will justify experience-based predictions or suggest needed changes. © 2022 ACM.

In the dynamic realm of technology, where new advancements consistently transform our online interactions, maintaining the security of web apps is crucial. This study explores the area of web security by investigating Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) vulnerabilities in great detail. We untangle the complexities of CSRF attacks and highlight their possible risks and implications by using advanced simulations in a controlled environment. To carefully and correctly mimic CSRF attacks, the process entails creating a legitimate web application along with a malicious counterpart. The study carefully assesses the effectiveness of custom headers, SameSite cookie characteristics, and anti-CSRF tokens as defense strategies. In addition to its technological focus, the research emphasizes participant involvement's ethical implications and stresses the significance of user safety. The results provide practical advice for developers and security experts to strengthen web apps in addition to furthering our theoretical understanding of CSRF issues. We show why there is a need for strong security measures to be put in place as soon as possible, acknowledge the ever-changing nature of cyber threats, and call for ongoing research to keep ahead of the curve in terms of protecting digital ecosystems. In conclusion, this study is an invaluable tool for understanding and resolving the urgent problems caused by CSRF vulnerabilities, demonstrating its importance in strengthening the security framework of our globalized digital society. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, we present a web-based optical character recognition (OCR) system that converts images of Ottoman documents printed with naskh font into text using CNN+RNN-based deep neural network models. For training, three datasets - original, synthetic, and hybrid - were prepared and three different OCR models were created. The original data set consists of 1,000 pages and the synthetic data set consists of 23,000 pages. Hybrid data set contains both. The trained models were compared with Tesseract's Arabic and Persian, Google Docs' Arabic, Abby FineReader's Arabic, and Miletos OCR model/tools with a 21-page test set. The comparison was made with 3 different texts (raw, normalized, and joined) and using 3 different criteria (character, ligature, and word recognition). The *** Hybrid model produced significantly better results than the others with 88.86% raw, 96.12% normalized, and 97.37% joined accuracy in character recognition;80.48% raw, 91.60% normalized, and 97.37% joined accuracy in ligature recognition;and 44.08% raw and 66.45% normalized accuracy in word recognition. To investigate the effects of the characteristics of the alphabet on OCR, character, ligature, and word frequency analyses of Ottoman was performed. In this analysis, the characters in the alphabet were grouped according to distinctive features such as connectedness, letter body, position and number of dots, type of character, and source language;and frequencies and recognition accuracies were examined for each group. The integration of drone technology with 5G networks presents novel opportunities for enhancing wireless communication systems. This paper explores the application of beamforming optimization techniques in dynamic environments, specifically focusing on moving drones in a simulated environment based on the DeepMIMO O1 scenario. By leveraging the unique properties of the O1 drone setup of DeepMIMO simulation environment, which simulates realistic urban mobility patterns at millimeter-wave (mmWave) frequencies, we propose a novel beamforming algorithm designed to optimize the signal quality and stability in highly mobile aerial networks. Key performance metrics used in this study include Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR), battery consumption, and power consumption of both the drones and the base station. Our findings indicate that the adaptive beamforming algorithm not only enhances the SNR and reduces power consumption but also optimizes battery usage compared to conventional beamforming methods. This study enhances the understanding of mmWave beamforming dynamics in aerial scenarios but also lays the groundwork for future advancements in drone-based communication networks. © 2024 IFIP.

The evolution of 5G networks is driving advancements in data rates, latency reduction, and connectivity, with adaptive beamforming emerging as a core technology to enhance spectral efficiency. This study demonstrates how integrating beamforming with spatial filtering can effectively optimize signal quality in 5G MIMO networks. Through simulations, we show that our approach achieves significant improvements in Signal-To-Noise Ratio (SNR) by optimizing beam directions. Specifically, results indicate that optimal beamforming angles can yield SNR values as high as 78 dB, substantially outperforming lower SNRs observed at less favorable angles. These findings underscore the potential of combined beamforming and spatial filtering to enhance communication reliability and network performance, particularly in high-density settings. © 2024 IEEE.

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) play a crucial role in various domains, from commercial to military, enabling precise monitoring of environmental and other conditions. However, the transmission of sensitive data in WSNs poses security challenges, particularly concerning eavesdropping attacks. While cryptographic methods offer protection, they often incur high energy costs, making them impractical for battery-powered WSNs. Our problem formulation, based on graph theory, reduces to the Secluded Paths problem for which no polynomial solution yet to known. Motivated by the challenge of reducing the eavesdropping risk through intelligent routing, we propose a scalable optimization approach using heuristics and local search techniques. We present a solution framework, followed by an experimental evaluation to demonstrate its efficacy. This paper contributes to the advancement of secure and efficient data transmission in WSNs. © 2024 ACM.
