The increasing use of digital payment systems has led to a rise in fraudulent activities, presenting a significant challenge in ensuring secure transactions. This research focuses on implementing the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm with a Radial Basis Function (RBF) kernel to detect fraud in digital payment systems. One of the main challenges addressed in this study is the severe class imbalance in the dataset, where fraudulent transactions account for only 0.17% of total transactions. To overcome this, the SMOTE (Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique) method was applied to balance the dataset, allowing the model to better recognize fraudulent patterns. The results indicate that the SVM model achieved an accuracy of 99.93%, with a precision of 86.23% and a recall of 75.51%. These results demonstrate that SVM, combined with SMOTE and RBF kernel, is highly effective in detecting fraudulent transactions while minimizing false positives. This research provides a strong foundation for improving fraud detection models in the context of digital payment systems, offering enhanced security and trust for users. Further research could explore hybrid models and real-time data analysis to improve performance.

ProBLeSS: A Proactive Blockchain Based Spectrum Sharing Protocol Against SSDF Attacks in Cognitive Radio IoBT Networks

Spectrum Sharing Data Falsification (SSDF) attacks can cause heavy performance degradation to Cognitive Radio (CR) based Internet of Battlefield Things (IoBT) networks. The challenge in such networks is to handle this security problem real time, in addition to spectrum sharing. This requires a robust CR architecture and protocol that can provide integrity of the spectrum sensing data being shared between Secondary Users (SUs) for collaborative spectrum decisions in protocols like PROLEMus. We propose one such protocol called Proactive Blockchain based Spectrum Sharing (ProBLeSS) protocol which leverages a blockchain to provide security against SSDF attacks in CR-IoBT networks. © 2019 IEEE.

In this work, we investigate the compression capabilities of a photonic neuromorphic accelerator relying on an optical spectrum slicing technique [1], following a high-flow 1D imaging cytometry setup, able to image 62000 particles/sec. The utilized image scheme relies on a technique, where spatial information is transfered to the spectrum and subsequently through dispersion to the temporal domain. Therefore, it can replace high speed spectrometers with a single photodetector [2]. On the other hand, the elevated image acquisition rate, trigger the generation of a staggering amount of data, which can cause a processing backlog at the digital backend. In this context, we explore, for the first time, the use of a photonic neuromorphic pre-processing unit, following the cytometer that can reduce the number of trainable parameters at a lightweight digital backend by a factor of 2.5, while at the same time, it can project incoming data to a high dimensional space boosting accuracy.

P4toNFV: Offloading from P4 switches to NFV in programmable data planes

P4 combines the benefits of hardware-based networking with the adaptability of software-based network operations. However, when faced with intricate network functions, P4 switches reveal constraints in memory and processing primitives. To address these, we advocate offloading traffic demanding intricate processing from the programmable data plane to network function virtualization (NFV). By leveraging this approach, P4 switches handle the core data plane, ensuring maximum performance, whereas virtualized network functions (VNF) cater to the intricate processing. Central to our research is the optimization of this offloading process, specifically considering delay constraints. We developed an analytical model that examines a P4 switch overseen by an SDN controller, integrating an offloading capability to NFV. The principal objective was to determine an offloading rate that minimizes packet processing delay. To this end, we employed a Bounded method, an advancement from Brent's method, to determine this optimal rate. The findings indicate that offloading approximately 66% of packets to the VNF achieves the lowest total delay, registering at 0.1505 (Formula presented.) s. This strategy of optimal offloading can notably reduce the system's average delay as the demand for network functions increases. The optimization technique we adopted exhibited rapid convergence in our experiments, reflecting the method's efficacy. Furthermore, a rigorous parametric sensitivity analysis spanning no offloading, full offloading, and optimal offloading strategies underscores that optimal offloading to NFV consistently augments system performance, particularly in terms of delay reduction. Conclusively, our study furnishes valuable insights into offloading strategies, augmenting the narrative on resource allocation in both PNFs and VNFs. © 2023 The Authors. Feature Fusion from Head to Tail for Long-Tailed Visual Recognition

The imbalanced distribution of long-tailed data presents a considerable challenge for deep learning models, as it causes them to prioritize the accurate classification of head classes but largely disregard tail classes. The biased decision boundary caused by inadequate semantic information in tail classes is one of the key factors contributing to their low recognition accuracy. To rectify this issue, we propose to augment tail classes by grafting the diverse semantic information from head classes, referred to as head-to-tail fusion (H2T). We replace a portion of feature maps from tail classes with those belonging to head classes. These fused features substantially enhance the diversity of tail classes. Both theoretical analysis and practical experimentation demonstrate that H2T can contribute to a more optimized solution for the decision boundary. We seamlessly integrate H2T in the classifier adjustment stage, making it a plug-and-play module. Its simplicity and ease of implementation allow for smooth integration with existing long-tailed recognition methods, facilitating a further performance boost. Extensive experiments on various long-tailed benchmarks demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed H2T. The source code is available at https://***/Keke921/H2T. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. Ensuring reliable communication can be incredibly challenging in emergencies due to the breakdown of conventional infrastructure. However, a promising solution is on the horizon: the integration of reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) onto unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), known as UAV-RIS. This innovative approach holds the potential to offer agile and adaptable communication services during crises, overcoming the limitations of traditional systems. This paper establishes an innovative UAV-RIS system with an active RIS to enhance the uplink communication between ground devices (GDs) and the air base station (ABS). We present an advanced communication strategy utilizing deep reinforcement learning (DRL) for UAV-RIS-supported uplink communication in dynamic emergencies. This scheme is designed to optimize the energy efficiency of the UAV-RIS communication system while adhering to quality of service (QoS) constraints for all GDs. It achieves this by jointly optimizing the trajectory of the UAV-RIS and the phase of the active RIS, ensuring efficient and reliable communication in challenging environments. To optimize the performance of the system, we propose a hierarchical Proximal Policy Optimization (H-PPO) algorithm and the upper and lower layers of H-PPO optimize the trajectory and phase control, respectively. Simulation results demonstrate that our scheme can effectively learn the communication strategy to enhance the performance of dynamic emergency communication networks.

In this paper a detailed description of the design and implementation of a system capable of detecting various obstacles for wheelchairs is provided. This system is part of a larger project that its goal is to create intelligent applications for patients using powered wheelchairs. The system is implemented on an electric wheelchair using low-cost ultrasonic and infrared sensors. All tests took place in indoor environment inside our laboratories, and the performance of the system is found to be adequate for the purposes of our project. © 2022 IEEE.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is as severe as cancer in today s world. It may even lead to the permanent failure of kidney. The initial detection of this disease is needed for timely cure. Our work presents a classifier (named ANFIS) in accordance with the notion of neuro-fuzzy in order to detect the existence of chronic kidney disease. We use blood test results of several patients for our research study. We compare our proposed classifier with some conventional classifiers such as Multi-layer Perceptron, Support Vector Machine, Logistic Regression and Decision Tree. Experimental results indicates that our proposed neuro-fuzzy rule-based classifier performs better than the other classifiers used here. ANFIS has given 3% to 4% better accuracy compared to the other classifiers. © 2022 IEEE.

Knee Osteoporosis (KOP) is a skeletal disease that is caused by low bone mineral density and the degradation of bone tissue. It increases the risk of bone fractures in the knee region and is commonly seen in older people but usually ignored due to its silent nature. Osteoporosis is mostly diagnosed via X-ray images and Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA) scans that can be difficult to read due to their sheer volume the subtle variations. This study aims to develop a Deep Learning (DL) utilizing Swin Transform model that can accurately recognize osteoporosis in knee X-ray images at an early stage. The dataset used for this research comprises knee X-rays labeled as either “normal” or “osteoporotic,” with image preprocessing including resizing to standard dimensions, converting the images into tensors, and normalizing pixel values to improve model performance. The model is trained and validated on arranged dataset, characterized by metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall or F1-score that gives an idea how well our model performs for prediction as acknowledged for its performance in image classification tasks. The results demonstrate that the Swin Transformer model has an overall accuracy of 89.38% on the data set for identifying osteoporosis features on knee X-ray images. This approach demonstrates the potential of the Swin Transformer model to serve as an effective tool for early osteoporosis diagnosis, offering improved accuracy and reliability compared to traditional convolutional neural networks (CNNs).
