In this paper, a fast image enhancement algorithm based on multi-scale retinex in HSV colour model is presented. The proposed algorithm produces the result similar to the one which uses a nonlinear processing in the HSV colour model, but with less computational cost. It uses linear dependencies of RGB colours from the V-component of HSV model. Additionally, to speed up the images processing and enhance the local contrast is suggested to perform multi-scale retinex (MSR) computation only in the low-frequency area obtained by the wavelet transform. Experimental research was performed on more than 100 colour images having non-uniform brightness. Different algorithms based on retinex technology were implemented and their performance was compared. The proposed way of output image colour formation allows reducing processing time by 30%-75%, depending on the image size. The experimental data show that the usage of the wavelet transform in proposed MSR algorithm additionally leads to 2-2.8 times increase in processing speed. The study is devoted to a comparative analysis and retrospective evaluation of laboratory and instrumental data with the severity of lung tissue damage in COVID-19 of patients with COVID-19. An improvement was made in the methodology for interpreting and analyzing dynamic changes associated with COVID-19 on CT images of the lungs. The technique includes the following steps: pre-processing, segmentation with color coding, calculation and evaluation of signs to highlight areas with probable pathology (including combined evaluation of signs). Analysis and interpretation is carried out on the emerging database of patients. At the same time the following indicators are distinguished: the results of the analysis of CT images of the lungs in dynamics; the results of the analysis of clinical and laboratory data (severity course of the disease, temperature, saturation, etc.). The results of laboratory studies are analyzed with an emphasis on the values of the main indicator - interleukin-6. This indicator is a marker of significant and serious changes characterizing the severity of the patient's condition.

Most of the medical diagnostic requires studies of medical images for to give an accurate treatment. Therefore is important the improvement of the medical images in terms of noise, quality, and morphological definition. The medical images series contains approximately 20% of noise caused by the equipment itself, especially in the x-ray modality. Therefore, the principal aim of this project is to develop an algorithm that helps suppress the noise as a preprocessing stage before medical analysis. The algorithm for noise reduction proposed uses classic and optimized mean filter, Gaussian filter, and median filter. This project also uses OpenMP parallel programming to optimize processing time and computational resources. The parallel implementation results of algorithms with sequential and classic implementation show great performance in the quality of the time processing, noise localization, and noise reduction. This improvement helps medical professionals get better details about the different pathologies for effective diagnostics and treatment. © 2019 International Association of Engineers.

For remove noise digital filters are used which in the last decades have taken great impetus for the treatment of images in different fields of science and in the case of the medical image processing better results are obtained in order to make better interpretations. Medical images can contain some noise therefore it makes sense to suppress noise on preprocessing stage. For the research we used digital filters such as mean filter, Gaussian filter and median filter. The speed performance comparison of optimized and classical implementations of these filters was conducted. It shows great speed improvement of optimized implementation. The possibilities of modern hardware allow using parallel technology for image processing. The parallel implementations of noise reduction filters algorithms taking into account the data parallelism were made utilizing OpenMP technology. The comparison of parallel implementation of filters algorithm with sequential and classic implementation show great increase in performance. Thus the parallel implementation gives a performance boost in 2-3 times for optimized version of algorithms. © 2018 Newswood Limited. All rights reserved.

Nowadays, remotely sensed images are used for various purposes in different applications. One of them is the cadastral application using high resolution satellite imagery. The edge detection has an important role in image processing, especially in the detection and the extraction physical features, those which are useful to their enforcement in the analysis of cadasters. An improve methodology is shown for detection of parcels of land in satellite images using GPU and fast filter for improve time process to reduce the noise, dynamic histogram equalization instead classic histogram equalization and Canny edge detection which is the best of others as Sobel, Prewitt, etc, for accelerated time process we used parallel Matlab GPU. © 2018 Newswood Limited.
