Due to the nature of the crowdsourcing applications that relies on the crowd participation to be successful, sustaining the volume of participating crowd is imperative. This is of particular concern in non-profit crowdsourcing applications where monetary rewards are not usually offered. To ensure this, factors that influence crowd to participate in non-profit crowdsourcing application need to be identified and means to address these factors when developing the crowdsourcing applications need to be devised. While existing work on the influencing factors are seen, the means to address the factors when developing the crowdsourcing applications are still absent. This research therefore extends the existing work on factors that influence the crowd participation in non-profit crowdsourcing applications by coming out with the framework containing the components that address the identified factors. A total of 11 components were included in the framework as a result of the analysis made on the identified influencing factors, which are divided into process and entity components. Preliminary evaluation performed by identifying the presence of the components in two selected nonprofit crowdsourcing applications known to be successful shows the relevance of the components in addressing the factors that influence crowd participation. The presence of the framework will be able to serve as a guide for the non-profit crowdsourcing application developers to develop applications that would be able to sustain crowd participation and hence, contributing to the survival of the applications.

Smart Building and its applications have become one of the essential ways of delivering a better quality of life and environment nowadays. The smart construction of building use the technology to share information between application by automate various processes, such as lighting, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HV AC), security and other systems. A smart building and supervisory control systems infrastructure uses wired, wireless, and smart sensor networks to collect data according to the needs and services of the business. This paper presents a review and a comparison between the various communications technologies commonly used in smart building. Choosing an appropriate technology is crucial in smart building in ensuring the automated process run well.

Requirements elicitation and analysis is one of the topics covered in Software Engineering, Requirements Engineering (RE) and other subjects belonging to the group, which are usually taught to the undergraduate computer science students. Requirements elicitation and analysis are crucial to the software development as mistakes made at this stage will negatively impact the subsequent stages of development. Thus, it is important to ensure students' firm understanding of the topic. One way to improve their understanding is by improving their interest and engagement in the topic. Taking advantage of younger generation's inclination towards games, means to increase students' interest and understanding of the topic using serious games were proposed. However, most of the existing games thus far are not focusing on the requirements elicitation and analysis in detail and are limited to only one real-life scenario per game. This research therefore attempted to address the gap by designing and developing a digital serious game for requirements elicitation and analysis topic that aims to improve students' understanding of the topic by applying the knowledge gained from lectures to a number of real-life scenarios provided in the game. The content of the game was designed based on the learning objectives to be attained and its overall design and development followed the ADDIE model comprising analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation phases. This paper however focuses on the design and development phases of the game. A pilot test was performed at the end of the development phase where the game's usability and its ability to attain the learning objectives of the topic were assessed. However, the test only covered the first level of the game. Analysis performed on the test results showed that while most of the assessed learning objectives were satisfactorily attained, rooms for improvement with regards to game usability were seen, particularly on the difficulty an

In recent years, we see more degradation in the quality of cyber security graduates, especially in terms of not meeting the employer's perspective. They lack a certain amount of skills to be competent enough for the industry. This study aims to inculcate interest in cyber security at a younger age, specifically from secondary-level education. After exploring various methods of approaching this problem, Capture the Flag (CTF) has been chosen to introduce secondary school students to the cyber security competitive scene in the hope that they find fun factors to be more interested in the field of area. A one-day event was conducted with the implementation of the CTF competition at the end. A pre-test and post-test questionnaire were constructed and given to the participants to answer prior and after the event to measure any changes made to their view and interest of cyber security.

energy generation from plastic composites offers a viable solution to the dual challenges of plastic waste management and renewable energy production. This study explores the potential of plastic composites for energy generation through key waste-to-energy technologies, including incineration, pyrolysis, gasification, and anaerobic digestion. The study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methodology, following the PRISMA guidelines, and draws from two primary databases: ScienceDirect and Web of Science. Each method is assessed in terms of energy efficiency, environmental impact, economic feasibility, and scalability, based on studies published between 2020 and the second quarter of 2024. Pyrolysis and gasification emerge as particularly promising technologies due to their flexibility and higher energy recovery potential. Incineration, although widely used and well-established, presents challenges related to emissions, despite improvements in emissions control technologies. Anaerobic digestion, though limited in its application to conventional plastics, provides sustainability benefits when used with biodegradable materials. The analysis reveals regional disparities in research focus, the influence of policy frameworks, and the need for technological innovation to optimize these processes. Ultimately, the findings highlight the importance of integrating energy recovery from plastic waste within circular economy models to achieve sustainable waste management and renewable energy goals. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Blockchain is a time stamped ledger that is used to keep immutable records. This technology has gained immense popularity due to the use of its decentralized architecture in cryptocurrency platforms. Blockchain has been increasingly adopted in other sectors due to its ability to ensure data integrity. The increasing use of blockchain by the public has made it become a subject to data privacy laws. Based on the study conducted by other researchers, there are features of blockchain that conflict with certain elements in data privacy laws. The European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which becomes a model for data privacy act of many other countries, has been identified to be incompatible with blockchain. One of the research works in the area of blockchain is to figure out how blockchain can be made to comply with such privacy laws. In Malaysia, blockchain is still relatively new and a study needs to be done to evaluate its compatibility with Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA). Hence, the aim of this paper is to identify the gaps between blockchain and PDP A in terms of their compatibility and to propose solutions to bridge the gaps. Based on the gaps identified, the paper proposed the use permissioned or private blockchain, off-chain storage and stealth address to enable a blockchain application to be compliant with PDPA.

CSMPQ:Class Separability Based Mixed-Precision Quantization

Mixed-precision quantization has received increasing attention for its capability of reducing the computational burden and speeding up the inference time. Existing methods usually focus on the sensitivity of different network layers, which requires a time-consuming search or training process. To this end, a novel mixed-precision quantization method, termed CSMPQ, is proposed. Specifically, the TF-IDF metric that is widely used in natural language processing (NLP) is introduced to measure the class separability of layer-wise feature maps. Furthermore, a linear programming problem is designed to derive the optimal bit configuration for each layer. Without any iterative process, the proposed CSMPQ achieves better compression trade-offs than the state-of-the-art quantization methods. Specifically, CSMPQ achieves 73.03% Top-1 acc on ResNet-18 with only 59G BOPs for QAT, and 71.30% top-1 acc with only 1.5Mb on MobileNetV2 for PTQ. © 2022, CC BY.

This paper proposes a computationally efficient modulated model predictive current control method for a three-phase neutral-point clamped (NPC) central inverter in the photovoltaic energy system. The proposed control method calculates the optimal sector number based on grid voltages, grid currents and maximum power point tracking and uses a subset of voltage vectors to reduce the number of calculations significantly, reducing the computational burden. The subset of voltage vectors are used to predict the future behavior of grid currents and DC-link capacitor voltages. A triangular-region based cost function chooses three optimal voltage vectors for a seven-segment switching method. The proposed control method provides low steady-state errors, fast transient response and a constant switching frequency. An 817 kW photovoltaic energy system is simulated to validate the proposed control method under transient and steady-state conditions.
