Distracted driving behaviour recognition based on transfer learning and model fusion

In the recognition of distracted driving behaviour, traditional manual feature extraction is subjective and complex;single deep convolutional network also has problems such as insufficient generalisation performance and stability. To solve the above problems, this paper proposes a distracted driving behaviour recognition method based on transfer learning and model fusion. First, based on the transfer learning method, the deep convolutional neural network models ResNet18 and ResNet34 are used to extract the features of some images, respectively. Furthermore, the pre-trained model is fine-tuned to obtain four deep convolutional neural network models. Finally, the four network models are fused by stacking method, using 5-fold cross-validation method to reduce over-fitting. Experimental results show that the recognition accuracy of distracted driving behaviour after model fusion reaches 95.47%. The fusion model has higher model generalisation performance and recognition accuracy, which can provide certain technical support for the research of distracted driving behaviour recognition. © 2023 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

Intelligent reflecting surface (IRS), unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), and Terahertz (THz) communications, which are recognized as 6G promising techniques, have attracted significant attentions. We propose UAV energy minimization schemes for IRS/UAV-based mobile-edge-computing (MEC) and traffic-offloading over broadband THz mobile networks. In the networks, multiple UAVs serving as MEC-servers collect data from multiple ground users (GUs) with the assistance of a set of passive IRSs. First, we formulate a UAV energy minimization problem, which jointly optimizes the IRSs' phase shifts, UAVs' trajectories, and system computation and communication resources. For THz communications, since the composite channel power gains of GUs are complicated functions of UAVs' trajectories and IRSs' phase shifts, the formulated optimization problem is non-convex. Then, using the alternating optimization (AO) technique, we decompose this non-convex optimization problem into three sub-problems which then can be iteratively solved. Finally, we validate and evaluate the proposed schemes by numerical analyses, which show that the energy consumption of UAVs can be reduced by around 40% by using IRSs. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents the current use of the Internet of Things (IoT) in fire evacuation and extinction. It examines the different approaches to the problem and technologies like Building information Modeling (BIM) and mathematical algorithms that can be used to determine the optimal evacuation route. It also evaluates existing fire security solutions such as smoke, flame, motion, and gas sensors, LED lights, buzzers, and SMS modules. Entities that specialize in Residential and Commercial Security Systems and Home Automation are also discussed, along with the services they offer. The main objective of this study is to understand current systems and resources regarding fire evacuation and extinction systems and to analyze different developments in smart buildings to create an efficient system for fire detection and evacuation. © 2023 IEEE.

The Surface Albedo reflects the ability of a surface to reflect solar radiation, which is a major factor in the surface energy budget and atmospheric motion in images. Low-resolution Surface Albedo cannot meet daily needs, and high-resolution Surface Albedo has become a hot research topic. GF-1 Wide Field of View (WFV) data can achieve 16 m wide range and high precision ground observation data, making it suitable for the production of high quality Surface Albedo products. In this paper, the 6S Radiative Transfer Model is used for atmospheric correction of GF-1 multispectral WFV data, and the Surface Albedo of Zhengzhou Airport is estimated based on the Bidirectional Reflectance Distribution Function (BRDF) model using its observation angle information. Finally, the inversion results of GF-1 are compared with existing MODIS Surface Albedo products. The results show that the Root Mean Square Error between GF-1 Albedo and MODIS Albedo is 0.0218 based on BRDF products as a priori knowledge. The inversion results of GF-1 data are in good agreement with MODIS Albedo products, which has certain reference significance for GF-1 satellite Albedo product generation and application. © 2024 COPYRIGHT SPIE. The new era of technology is being greatly influenced by the field of artificial intelligence. computer vision and deep learning have become increasingly important due to their ability to process vast amounts of data and provide insights and solutions in a variety of fields. computer vision, deep learning and signal analysis have been used in a growing number of applications and services including smart devices, image, and speech recognition, healthcare, etc., one such device is an infant monitoring system. It monitors the daily activities of the infant such as their sleeping patterns, sounds, and movements. In this paper, deep learning and computer vision libraries were used to develop algorithms to detect whether the infant was in any uncomfortable situation such as sleeping on its back, face being covered and whether the infant was awake. The smart infant monitoring system detects the infant's unsafe resting situation in real time and sent immediate alerts to the caretaker's device. This paper presents the design flow of a smart infant monitoring system consisting of a night vision camera, a Jetson Nano, and a Wi-Fi internet connection. The pose estimation and awake detection algorithms were developed and tested successfully for different infant resting/sleeping situations. The smart infant monitoring system provides significant benefits for safety and an improved understanding of infants' sleep patterns and behavior. © 2023 IEEE.

This study presents a new machine learning algorithm, named Chemical Environment Graph Neural Network (ChemGNN), designed to accelerate materials property prediction and advance new materials discovery. Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) and its doped variants have gained significant interest for their potential as optical materials. Accurate prediction of their band gaps is crucial for practical applications;however, traditional quantum simulation methods are computationally expensive and challenging to explore the vast space of possible doped molecular structures. The proposed ChemGNN leverages the learning ability of current graph neural networks (GNNs) to satisfactorily capture the characteristics of atoms' chemical environment underlying complex molecular structures. Our experimental results demonstrate more than 100% improvement in band gap prediction accuracy over existing GNNs on g-C3N4. Furthermore, the general ChemGNN model can precisely foresee band gaps of various doped g-C3N4 structures, making it a valuable tool for performing high-throughput prediction in materials design and development. © The Author(s) 2024.

Assessing the quality of pansharpened images is a critical issue in order to obtain a quantitative score to represent the quality and compare the performance of different fusion methods. Most of the introduced metrics for pansharpened image quality assessment, evaluate the spectral content of the image, while in different applications of remote sensing like detection and identification of image objects, spatial quality has an important role. In the current study, a new index for spatial quality assessment is introduced that extracts gray level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM) from distorted and reference images and compares the similarities of these features. The tempere image database 2013 (TID2013) that provides reference and different types of distorted images with subjective scores of each image is used as the desired database. To solve the high computational complexity of obtaining GLCM features, the fast GLCM method is employed. In this way, 16 different features are extracted. To select the features that have the most consistency with the human visual system (HVS), the forward floating search method is used as a feature selection method and five features are obtained as the final features to form the desired index. Experimental results show the efficiency of the proposed method in determining the spatial quality of fused images compared with that of the available quality assessment metrics. © 2022 IEEE.

Metasurface-based holograms,or metaholograms,offer unique advantages including enhanced imaging quality,expanded field of view,compact system size,and broad operational ***-channel metaholograms,capable of switching between multiple projected images based on the properties of illuminating light such as state of polarization and angle of incidence,have emerged as a promising solution for realizing switchable and dynamic holographic ***,existing designs typically grapple with challenges such as limited multiplexing channels and unwanted crosstalk,which severely constrain their practical ***,we present a new type of waveguidebased multi-channel metaholograms,which support six independent and fully crosstalk-free holographic display channels,simultaneously multiplexed by the spin and angle of guided incident light within the glass *** employ a k-space translation strategy that allows each of the six distinct target images to be selectively translated from evanescent-wave region to the center of propagation-wave region and projected into free space without crosstalk,when the metahologram is under illumination of a guided light with specific spin and azimuthal *** addition,by tailoring the encoded target images,we implement a three-channel polarization-independent metahologram and a two-channel full-color(RGB)***,the number of multiplexing channels can be further increased by expanding the k-space’s central-period region or combing the k-space translation strategy with other multiplexing techniques such as orbital angular momentum *** work provides a novel approach towards realization of high-performance and compact holographic optical elements with substantial information capacity,opening avenues for applications in AR/VR displays,image encryption,and information storage.
