Efficient management and cost-related factors in the power sector call for accurate short-term load forecasting as it enables better planning with the electric grid and achieving stability within it. This paper looks into the state-of-the-art forecasting strategies that enhance load forecasts made in shorter time frames. Such techniques include but are not limited to machine learning applications, effective data models, and multi-dimensional modeling leveraging historical, meteorological, and economic data. Their review is carried out in detail with their advantages and disadvantages and their application in practice. Furthermore, this study strives to understand the barriers that need to be overcome in the quest to increase the accuracy of the forecasting models especially concerning renewable energy sources. We illustrate how new trends relate to future developments of predictive models about supporting the decision-making in operating power systems and improving the reliability and sustainability of energy systems. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents a computer platform for the automated analysis of associations among different solar events and activities. This computer tool enables the advanced learning by implementing many associations' algorithms to analyze years of solar catalogues data and to study the associations among solar flares, eruptive filaments per prominences and Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs). The aim is to combine all solar data catalogues in one dynamic space weather database that can be easily used in the analysis of solar activities and features. The computer tool identifies patterns of associations and provides numerical representations that can be used as inputs to the machine learning algorithms to provide computerized learning rules that can be developed in the future within the context of a real-time prediction system.

Today's autonomous vehicles will deploy multiple sensors to achieve safe and reliable navigation and precise perception of the environment. Although multiple sensors can be advantageous in terms of providing a robust and complete description of the surrounding area, the synchronization of multi-sensors in real-time processing is extremely important. When data is synchronized, primary functional systems such as localization, perception, planning, and control, will all benefit. In this paper, we proposed a synchronized data illustration and collection method to assist the data processing applications for autonomous driving. Our proposed solution among different sensors can be directly deployed on autonomous vehicles for data integration and environment analysis to support the driving model construction. The experimental results validate that our proposed method can present a 360° synchronized view while providing the capability of real-time scanning with up to 80% reduced latency.

We propose a generic transformation that can convert any nonbinary (n=k{+}r,k)maximum distance separable (MDS) code into another (n,k) MDS code over the same field such that: 1) some arbitrarily chosen r nodes have the optimal repair bandwidth and the optimal rebuilding access;2) for the remaining k nodes, the normalized repair bandwidth and the normalized rebuilding access (over the file size) are preserved;and 3) the sub-packetization level is increased only by a factor of r. Two immediate applications of this generic transformation are then presented. The first application is that we can transform any nonbinary MDS code with the optimal repair bandwidth or the optimal rebuilding access for the systematic nodes only, into a new MDS code which possesses the corresponding repair optimality for all nodes. The second application is that by applying the transformation multiple times, any nonbinary (n,k) scalar MDS code can be converted into an (n,k) MDS code with the optimal repair bandwidth and the optimal rebuilding access for all nodes, or only a subset of nodes, whose sub-packetization level is also optimal. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

$k$kTCQ: Achieving Privacy-Preserving $k$k-Truss Community Queries Over Outsourced Data

Community search over graphs, which is believed as a powerful tool for locating subgraphs of closely related vertices, has received considerable attention in recent years, and $k$ -truss is such a popular community search metric to obtain subgraphs in which every edge forms $(k-2)$ triangles. In this paper, we particularly consider $k$ -truss community query services, which will return all $k$ -truss communities containing a given query vertex. As is known, when the size of graph grows, for achieving better performance, it is natural for a service provider to outsource the services to a powerful cloud. However, this stresses the need for privacy-preserving $k$ -truss community query services, as the cloud server is not fully trustable. Over the past years, many schemes focusing on privacy-preserving graph computation have been put forth, but none of them can well support privacy-preserving $k$ -truss community queries. Aiming at this challenge, we first propose a privacy-preserving $k$ -truss community query scheme ( $k$ TCQ) by constructing boolean circuits with homomorphic encryption technique and a table-based index. After that, we also design an efficiency-enhanced version ( $k$ TCQ+) based on a stream cipher scheme to reduce the encrypted index's size and improve the query efficiency. Detailed security analysis shows that both $k$ TCQ and $k$ TCQ+ can well preserve data privacy and access pattern privacy, and extensive experimental results also demonstrate that $k$ TCQ+ can observably reduce the size of encrypted index and the query time by $12\times$ and $5.9\times$ , respectively.

We present GauKGT5, a sequence-to-sequence model proposed for knowledge graph completion (KGC). Our research extends the KGT5 model, a recent sequence-to-sequence link prediction (LP) model. GauKGT5 takes advantage of textual characteristics inherent in the knowledge graph, exhibiting a small model size. However, KGT5's proficiency in link prediction necessitates the ensemble with a knowledge graph embedding model, which itself poses challenges due to its substantial size and expense. By integrating the Gated Attention Unit into the KGT5 model and directly applying it to the encoder-decoder structure, we achieve improved contextual dependency capturing within the sequence, resulting in enhanced prediction accuracy, accelerated training speed, and enhanced computational efficiency. At the same time, we introduce parallel computing as a means to enhance the efficiency of model training and inference within the XPU distributed computing environment. © 2023 IEEE.

In many underwater application scenarios, recognition tasks need to be executed promptly on computationally limited platforms. However, models designed for this field often exhibit spatial locality, and existing works lack the ability to capture crucial details in images. Therefore, a lightweight and detail-aware vision network (LDVNet) for resource-constrained environments is proposed to overcome the limitations of these approaches. Firstly, in order to enhance the accuracy of target image recognition, we introduce transformer modules to acquire global information, thus addressing the issue of spatial locality inherent in traditional convolutional neural networks (CNNs). Secondly, to maintain the network's lightweight nature, we integrate the transformer module with convolutional operations, thereby mitigating the substantial parameter and floating point operations (FLOPs) overhead. Thirdly, for the efficient extraction of crucial fine-grained details from feature maps, we have devised a channel and spatial attention module (C&SA). This module aids in recognizing intricate and fine-grained visual tasks and enhances image understanding. It is seamlessly integrated into LDVNet with nearly negligible parameter overhead. The experimental results demonstrate that LDVNet outperforms other lightweight networks and hybrid networks in different recognition tasks, while being suitable for resource-constrained environments. © 2023 IEEE.

The aim of cross-modal image-text retrieval is to heighten comprehension and to create robust associations between visual and textual content. This process entails a mutual querying and synchronization across various data formats. While conventional techniques have seen enhancements via attention-based approaches, they frequently miss the dynamics between corresponding and non-corresponding entity areas within image-text pairs. These techniques, often fixated on aligning image entities with textual terms, can overlook the congruence of entity characteristics, leading to less accurate localization. This research introduces PNRITR, an innovative strategy for cross-modal retrieval that leverages label learning to discern attributes absent from images, broadening the scope beyond just positive entity areas. Image inpainting, which aims to reconstruct reasonably clear and realistic images from known pixel information, is one of the core problems in computer vision. However, due to the complexity and variability of the underwater environment, the inability to extract valid pixel points and insufficient correlation between feature information in existing image inpainting techniques lead to blurring in the generated images. Therefore, a novel gated attention feature fusion image inpainting network based on generative adversarial networks (GAF-GAN) is proposed. The accuracy of feature similarity matching depends heavily on the validity of the information contained in the features. On the one hand, gating values are dynamically generated by gated convolution to reduce the interference of invalid information. On the other hand, semantic information at distant locations in an image is accurately acquired by the attention mechanism. For these reasons, we designed an improved gated attention mechanism. Gated attention mechanism make the network focus on effective information such as high-frequency texture and color fidelity of restored images. In addition, the dense feature fusion module is added to expand the overall receptive field of the network to fully learn the image features. Experimental results show that the proposed method can effectively repair defective images with complex texture structures and improve the reality and integrity of image details and structures. © 2023 IEEE.

Image-text matching is an important problem at the intersection of computer vision and natural language processing. It aims to establish the semantic link between image and text to achieve high-quality semantic alignment between the two modalities. However, the existing methods have the problem that the meaning expressed in the image or the complex narrative in the text cannot be fully understood due to insufficient feature extraction. Moreover, due to the essential modal differences between images and texts, how to effectively and accurately align the semantic contents in images and texts has become the key of research. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes a method based on feature enhancement and relationship interaction. When processing images, the proposed method fuses labeled features, region features and location features to represent images. When processing text, a combination of Bi-GRU and self-attention mechanism is used to represent the text. In order to further align the semantic content in images and texts accurately, this paper improves two relational interaction mechanisms by identifying connection relationships and learning association relationships. Thus, the relation enhanced embedding is obtained. Finally, it calculated the similarity of the enhanced embedding to judge the matching degree of the image and text. Extensive experiments on the public datasets Flickr30K and MSCOCO demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. © 2024 IEEE.
