Social platforms such as Gab and Parler, branded as ‘free-speech’ networks, have seen a significant growth of their user base in recent years. This popularity is mainly attributed to the stricter moderation enforced by mainstream platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and Reddit. In this work we provide the first large scale analysis of hate-speech on Parler. We experiment with an array of algorithms for hate-speech detection, demonstrating the limitations of transfer learning in that domain, given the illusive and ever changing nature of the ways hate-speech is delivered. In order to improve classification accuracy we annotated 10K Parler posts, which we use to fine-tune a BERT classifier. Classification of individual posts is then leveraged for the classification of millions of users via label propagation over the social network. Classifying users by their propensity to disseminate hate, we find that hate mongers make about 16% of Parler active users, and that they have distinct characteristics comparing to other user groups. We find that hate mongers are more active, more central, express distinct levels of sentiment, and convey a distinct array of emotions like anger and sadness. We further complement our analysis by comparing the trends observed in Parler to those found in Gab. To the best of our knowledge, this is among the first works to analyze hate speech in Parler in a quantitative manner and on the user level. © 2022 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Colorectal intraepithelial neoplasia is a precancerous lesion of colorectal cancer, which is mainly diagnosed using pathological images. According to the characteristics of lesions, precancerous lesions can be classified into four different grades, i.e., background, normal, low and high level. However, due to the continuity of lesion development, tissue in different stages has high similarity. Recently, visual transformers have achieved impressive results in different visual tasks, due to their capacity of capturing long-range dependencies. However, due to computational cost, transformer cannot well extract detailed feature, which is important for lesion grading. To accurately segment pathological tissues with high similarity, in this work, we embed the multi-head MLP mixer module in the transformer network to extract cell and edge information. Furthermore, we propose a hierarchical MLP decoder to facilitate multi-scale feature fusion. The proposed transformer, namely MLPFormer, achieves remarkable results against competitive baselines on the Histo-CRC Biopsy dataset. The experimental results demonstrate that MLPFormer significantly outperforms the competitive baselines, i.e., a 3% dice improvement is achieved over the SegFormer series. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

This study developed and implemented a machine learning-driven HR system designed to enhance recruitment outcomes, particularly in online interviews. Challenges such as candidate impersonation, interview question memorization, and deepfake manipulations were addressed. The system incorporated several critical processes utilizing advanced algorithms: pre-interview shortlisting employed Support Vector Machines (SVM) achieving 92% accuracy;cognitive skills assessment utilized adaptive testing methods powered by fine-tuned Large Language Models (LLMs) with 88% accuracy;emotional intelligence evaluation was conducted using deep learning-based emotion detection algorithms attaining 85% accuracy;face verification leveraged Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for identity and deepfake detection with 90% accuracy;online video interviews were analyzed through integrated audio-visual processing techniques;language proficiency testing employed Natural Language Processing (NLP) models reaching 87% accuracy;analysis of thinking patterns was performed using sentiment analysis algorithms with 83% accuracy;and candidate grading was facilitated by ensemble learning methods ensuring consistent and reliable evaluations. The results demonstrated the system’s effectiveness in verifying candidate authenticity and assessing competence, providing a robust solution for modern recruitment challenges. © 2024 IEEE.

Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is a prevalent eye complication among individuals with diabetes. Early detection of DR can prevent vision loss and lower associated problems. Manual diagnosis via retinal fundus images requires the expertise of medical professionals to assess several complex characteristics, including visual acuity tests, pupil dilation, and optical consistency tomography. The process is challenging, time-consuming, and prone to errors. This paper proposes a deep learning (DL) technique, DRDnet22, to detect and categorize DR into five distinct stages. The APTOS 2019 dataset is utilized in this study, which contains 3662 images. The study employs dense block and transition layer with global average pooling (GAP) techniques, and the combination of distinct Convolutional Networks (ConvNets) results in an enhanced representation beyond the utilization of features from a single ConvNet alone. To conduct an ablation analysis, the conventional pre-trained model's performance was compared. The performance evaluation points out that the proposed model achieved 81.6% accuracy, which is an advantage over other DCNN models. Despite facing a few inaccuracies, the model's competence in spotting vital features underscores its diagnostic potential. © 2024 IEEE.

Supplier selection is a critical component of Supply Chain Management (SCM), as suppliers provide raw materials or services essential for supporting a company's operations. Traditional supplier selection methods often rely on subjective assessments to determine the weighting of criteria, which can lead to biases and suboptimal decision making. To address this issue, this study combines the Logarithmic Percentage Change of Weight (LOPCOW) method with the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method to enhance objectivity in the supplier selection process. The LOPCOW method is used to assign criterion weights objectively based on logarithmic percentage changes, which helps minimize subjectivity, These weights are then applied using the SAW method to evaluate and rank suppliers. The results of the study show that this combined approach is more reliable for selecting suppliers objectively and accurately. The study suggests integrating other Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) methods to further strengthen the results while recommending the inclusion of real-time data analytics to improve the model's adaptability to dynamic market conditions. The LOPCOW-SAW approach can be applied across various industries for more effective and efficient SCM supplier selection. © 2024 IEEE.

In Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), sensor nodes are densely and arbitrarily deployed in monitoring areas and most of them generate redundant data due to sense same events in the overlapping area. Thus, they spent more of energy from their limited batteries that reduce the chance of its survival and continuity. This paper integrates two mathematical models namely Boolean Sensing Model and Event Radius Model in the cluster WSN. The proposed model analyses an event coverage area to compute minimum number of active source nodes required to transmit data events to CH node rather than all nodes within cluster. OMNeT++ simulation tool has been using to performs experimental study and obtain the result. The simulation result shows that 4 source nodes are become active and transmit their data to CH node whereby 12 source nodes turn off and become sleep in the cluster. In addition, the proposed model reduces the source nodes energy consumption about 80 % comparing with LEACH scheme. © 2023 IEEE.

In the method of sleep staging task, the artificial sleep staging process is complicated, while the traditional machine learning only realizes feature classification and relies on manual feature extraction. This paper presents a deep learning method which can automatically extract and classify EEG features. At the same time, in view of the slow improvement of staging accuracy and high model complexity of existing studies, and the high cost of data due to the dependence on annotated data sets, this paper constructs the end-to-end self-supervised sleep staging model for these problems and continuously improves it. An automatic sleep staging model based on Inception structure and BILSTM was proposed. The convolutional neural network of Inception structure extracts the corresponding features from different time scales, combines the application of attention mechanism and residual structure to carry out the EEG signal characterization learning, and uses BILSTM to carry out the sequence information feature learning. Finally, a self-supervised learning method based on comparison is used to learn the potential feature representation of EEG data from a large number of unlabeled data. In the experiment, the sleep-EDF dataset was used, and the results showed that self-supervision improved the overall classification accuracy of the model. Meanwhile, the classification results of various categories were equalized, and the overall performance of the Sleep staging model was improved. © 2023 SPIE.
