Fingerprints of Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) imaging provide 3D volume data which have the nature property of multi-layered tissue structure. This paper, for the first time, attempts to extract minutiae for OCT-based fingerprint by making full use of the merits multi-layered structure of OCT imaging and powerful convolution al neural network (CNN). In particular, a novel multi-layered feature fusion minutiae extraction network is proposed, involving a multi-layered feature extractor to integrate the rich information of multiple subsurface fingerprints, and a two-stage object detection framework using reweighted concatenation feature to detect minutiae points. Compared with the results achieved by typical traditional and learning-based methods, our method outperforms the best one by about 2% of F1-score in minutiae extraction, and achieves the improvement of 0.09% than the best one in matching performance, which further demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of our proposed method. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Benefiting from the rapid advancements in Deep Learning (DL), data-driven features exhibit remarkable separability in PolSAR image classification. However, data-driven features are challenging to interpret and susceptible to resolution and noise. On the contrary, polarimetric features based on the target decomposition not only have high robustness, but also has physical interpretability. Consequently, researchers have begun to explore ways to integrate both types of features to achieve enhanced performance, which typically concat the data-driven features and polarimetric features directly. However, polarimetric features are not stable in separability, which is because the inherent defects of the target decomposition algorithm. To mitigate the adverse effects of low-quality features, this paper proposes a trusted polarimetric feature fusion (TPFF). The new paradigm calculates the confidence of features and employs a novel feature fusion method. The proposed method has been tested on the EMISAR Foulum dataset, with experimental results demonstrating improved classification performance and robustness.

The demand for precise timing continues to grow with the rapid development of smart cities, where intelligent transportation emerges as a critical application heavily dependent on accurate time distribution. Deterministic communication is anticipated to be a defining feature of nextgeneration mobile networks (6G), enabling end-to-end timecritical applications, and unlocking new possibilities for achieving end-to-end precise time synchronization as well. To cope with the challenge of delivering precise time synchronization across broader areas at a lower cost, this paper proposes a method to achieve end-to-end precise time synchronization by leveraging the deterministic characteristics of communication networks. Specially, the proposed approach adopts the software-Defined Networking (SDN) paradigm to implement deterministic networking for the seamless integration of Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) and cellular networks. Furthermore, to mitigate the impact of wireless channel uncertainties on synchronization accuracy, we propose a network delay measurement mechanism based on the principle of time redundancy, designed to reduce end-to-end network delay variation. Experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed method, demonstrating its capability to constrain the end-to-end relative time error of wired and wireless converged networks to the microsecond scale, without necessitating modifications to the existing network infrastructure.

Automatic Repeat Request Design in AoI-Aware Broadcast With Heterogeneous Direct and Relay-Assisted Users

This paper investigates the design of automatic repeat request (ARQ) protocols in age of information (AoI)-aware broadcast systems with heterogeneous users, including both direct and relay-assisted users. In this setup, a direct user receives status updates directly via a single-hop link, while a relay-assisted user can receive status updates through either a direct single-hop link or a two-hop relay-assisted link. While ARQ is commonly used to ensure reliable transmission in error-prone wireless networks, previous studies suggest that ARQ does not improve the average AoI in single-hop networks. However, its impact on AoI in systems with relays, particularly those involving heterogeneous users, remains unclear. We address this gap by analyzing the average AoI under different ARQ strategies, introducing a transmission limit k ≥ 0 at the relay. Here, k = 0, k = 1, and k > 1 correspond to non-relay, non-ARQ-at-relay, and truncated-ARQ-at-relay strategies, respectively. Utilizing a unified Markov chain framework that models the transmission processes for each user type, we derive the theoretical average AoI. Our results show that the direct user benefits most from non-relay and non-ARQ strategies, similar to single-hop systems. In contrast, the relay-assisted user achieves optimal performance with truncated-ARQ-at-relay, leveraging both direct and relay-assisted links. For the overall system, applying a non-ARQ-at-relay approach strikes a balance in AoI between the direct and relay-assisted users, leading to a more stable and lower system-wide average AoI. © 2014 IEEE.

This paper proposes an automatic data extraction algorithm for web pages based on noise reduction and visualization blocks' construction. In this algorithm, we first build an MD5 trigeminal tree of the web page's source files using a Message-Digest Algorithm. And then we arrange some noise reduction. Finally, we construct visualization blocks by an optimized cluster algorithm named BIRCH A-CF which could create an area clustering feature forest and complete the clustering by dynamically changing the circle's radius according to the correction factor. We perform experiments on eight different datasets to compare our method with eight baseline methods. The experimental results show that our approach outperforms current methods by providing more accuracy and robustness, it also accelerates noise reduction and reduces the number of nodes effectively. © 2022 SPIE.

Recognizing defects in source code through deep learning methods has become an important research subject for improving software quality. Although Transformer-based models such as CodeBERT have demonstrated impressive performance improvement in defect prediction tasks, models relying on single-structured input data, such as sequences, have limited ability to capture the code's structural features. Treating code simply as text overlooks essential information such as control dependencies, data dependencies, and syntactic structures inherent in the code. This paper proposes the Heterogeneous Discrete Code Graph (HDCG), which assigns structural information to code tokens from multiple perspectives. We also introduce an improved transformer model FINEGATE that leverages HDCG to guide self-attention. The experiments demonstrate that FINEGATE can effectively predict source code defects and perform fine-grained defect localization. © 2023 IEEE.

Arfa: An Agile Regime-Based Floating-Point Optimization Approach for Rounding Errors

Recent approaches present the concept of regimes to partition the input domain D of a floating-point expression f_e, rewriting it in each regime where f_e shows larger errors such that the accuracy across D can be improved. These methods, however, fall short of both inferring regimes and searching rewrite *** this paper, we introduce a rewriting system called Arfa to address these issues. Given an f_e and its D, Arfa first seeks a rewrite substitution f_o that has lower errors across D and next plots the error distribution of f_o. The boundary line of this plot is then sketched, based on which an effective regime inference algorithm applicable to both numerically stable and unstable programs is implemented. For each regime where f_o should be rewritten, Arfa first normalizes f_o by considering the regime’s properties and next generates an incomplete set of f_o ’s rewrite candidates, which are prioritized according to the number of floating-point operators. Finally, Arfa selects the best rewrite substitution by empirically inspecting the errors of several top ranked rewrite candidates, with enhancing precision also considered as a complementary strategy. This search heuristic avoids the need to establish a cost model used by prior *** conduct experiments using 60 benchmarks, including 56 FPbench examples and four real-life programs. The results demonstrate that Arfa can reduce both maximum and average errors of the original expressions by 4.73 and 2.08 bits on average, and up to 33 and 16 bits, respectively;the experimental outcomes also show that Arfa exhibits lower errors, sometimes to a significant degree, than Herbie, PSAT (a global optimization framework that rewrites numerical programs via prioritized stochastic algebraic transformations), Daisy, and Regina. © 2023, The Authors. Accurately synthesizing talking face videos and capturing fine facial features for individuals with long hair presents a significant challenge. To tackle these challenges in existing methods, we propose a decomposed per-embedding Gaussian fields (DEGSTalk), a 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS)-based talking face synthesis method for generating realistic talking faces with long hairs. Our DEGSTalk employs Deformable Pre-Embedding Gaussian Fields, which dynamically adjust pre-embedding Gaussian primitives using implicit expression coefficients. This enables precise capture of dynamic facial regions and subtle expressions. Additionally, we propose a Dynamic Hair-Preserving Portrait Rendering technique to enhance the realism of long hair motions in the synthesized videos. Results show that DEGSTalk achieves improved realism and synthesis quality compared to existing approaches, particularly in handling complex facial dynamics and hair preservation. Traditional LiDAR SLAM approaches prioritize localization over mapping, yet high-precision dense maps are essential for numerous applications involving intelligent agents. Recent advancements have introduced methods leveraging neural fields to enhance mapping capabilities;however, these approaches still face several limitations. Firstly, concerning scene representation, they typically employ neural fields with high-dimensional features and multi-layer perceptron decoders utilizing non-continuous activation functions. This results in low learning efficiency and challenges in capturing high-frequency signals. Secondly, in terms of scene organization, these methods often treat the entire scene as a singular neural field, leading to inefficiencies, inflexibility, and difficulties in rectifying accumulated errors when mapping large-scale environments over extended periods. To tackle the first issue, we propose a lightweight continuous SDF regression approach by encoding the scene in single-valued embeddings and decoding SDF values from a Kolmogorov-Arnold Network. By minimizing discrepancies in measuring range, sampling distance, and decoded SDF values, we facilitate iterative frame-to-model tracking and bundle adjustment neural mapping. To mitigate the second challenge, we propose structuring the whole scene into multiple neural SDF submaps. By establishing node-node, node-submap, and loop closure constraints into a global pose graph, the system can create dense neural maps with global consistency across large-scale scenes. Experimental evaluations in both real-world and simulated settings indicate that our system achieves superior mapping completeness and accuracy, enhanced learning efficiency, reduced memory consumption, and greater flexibility compared to its counterparts. © 2025 IEEE.

Realizing Generalized Zero-Shot Learning (GZSL) based on large models is emerging as a prevailing trend. However, most existing methods merely regard large models as black boxes, solely leveraging the features output by the final layer while disregarding potential performance enhancements from other layers. Indeed, numerous researchers have visually depicted variations in the features learned across different layers of neural networks. Motivated by this observation, we propose a Vision Transformer (ViT)-based GZSL method named Depth-Aware Multi-Modal ViT (DAM2ViT), which exploits multi-level features of ViT. DAM2ViT incorporates a multi-modal interaction block to align semantic information of categories across multiple layers, thereby augmenting the model’s capacity to learn associations between visual and semantic spaces. Extensive experiments conducted on three benchmark datasets (i.e., CUB, SUN, AWA2) have showcased that DAM2ViT achieves competitive results compared to state-of-the-art methods. © 2024 IEEE.
