The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of meteorological factors on heart rate variability (HRV) derived from daily electrocardiogram (ECG) data. Daily meteorological data were obtained from the Japan Meteorological Agency’s database. Daily ECG data were measured while bathing for five y ears. T he s ubject w as a h ealthy m ale i n h is fi fties. After collecting ECG data, R-R intervals were calculated to perform HRV analysis in time domain and frequency domain. The evaluation of link between meteorological factors and HRV parameters was realized by utilizing meteorological factors’ importance calculated by Random Forest, and Steel-Dwass significant difference analysis of the values. Additionally, the evaluation was also performed by analyzing the obtained meteorological factors’ importance values using Granger Causality test. Traditional decision-making methods often struggle with inherent uncertainty and imprecision in data. Neutrosophic set-based algorithms offer a novel approach by incorporating degrees of truth, indeterminacy, and falsity. This paper explores the structure and implementation of these algorithms, highlighting their potential to handle real-world complexities. The application of neutrosophic sets in medical diagnosis is presented as a case study, demonstrating how the algorithm aids in evaluating probabilities for various diagnoses under uncertain conditions. This paper aims to resume the information on the various ways in which security can be achieved when it comes to accessing external resources from the outside through company devices or personal devices. When planning security policies, it is essential to start with the idea that anything outside is exposed to the risk of infection. We will analyze the Zero Trust model and other security concepts in order to use them for remote access. The model has been designed to adapt to the modern needs of the workforce and employers, including remote work in terms of maximum cyber security, minimizing the risk of resource exploitation (people, devices, applications or data). In order to make the transition to such a model, this paper will implement and test a solution for remote management of resources (applications, servers), which implements some of the principles of Zero Trust architectures, starting from the classic version SSH (Secure Shell) access. The solution involves accessing, securing and authorizing a secure virtual machine via SSH, and then securing access to production resources. The technical mechanism by which these operations are performed presupposes that after authentication on the buffer machine a user certificate is automatically requested which will be signed by a certification authority. This certificate contains the group to which the operator belongs so that, by presenting this certificate, it is allowed to authenticate, authorize and audit access to the resources that will be managed by the user in that session. © 2023 SPIE.

The IEEE 802.15.4 standard is designed for low-rate wireless personal area networks (LR-WPANs). Deterministic and Synchronous Multi-channel Extension (DSME) is one of the key Medium Access Control (MAC) modes of the IEEE 802.15.4 standard that was introduced to address the need for higher reliability, lower latency, and better scalability in network communication in Internet of Things (IoT) applications. However, in dynamic network conditions (topology and channel traffic), the network suffers from several limitations, such as low packet delivery ratio, high latency and packet collisions, and finally, higher power consumption. This is because of sub-optimal parameter settings. The standard does not define any mechanism to adapt the parameters based on network conditions. In this paper, we propose a mechanism to adapt/fine-tune the network parameters DSME along with the optimization of QoS using an algorithm based on Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO) for dense and dynamic DSME-based IoT networks. Through simulations, the proposed mechanisms' performance is analyzed in terms of energy efficiency, transmission overhead, throughput, and latency and is shown to outperform the existing DSME MAC scheme. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper proposes a method enabling mobile LoRa gateways to support mobile end devices. The approach utilizes trilateration and similar approaches based on RSSI to estimate the position of end devices and specify the movement of the gateways to maintain contact. The evaluation of the proposed method tests various parameters such as speed and number of end devices, and it shows that it is able to retain contact even with speeds up to 12 mps. Moreover, the evaluation shows that the ADR-MIN algorithm performs better in this scenario than the default ADR. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper we purpose several methods for creating 2D projection image from a 3D scan such as from CT or MR scans, and then look at different types of 2.5D projections with a growing window sizes and see its effects on the efficacy of the machine learning model when combined with the selection algorithms. As such we are using Shi-Tomasi Detectors, Sobel Edge Detectors, Sum of Pixel Intensity, Center Select, and Random Selection as selection algorithms from which we select the most interesting index for a given scan, from which depending on the window size, we stack the neighboring slices in the axial plane to the channel dimension creating a 2.5D image from which we could pass into our ResNet-9 model configured for classification and train the model for a given number of epochs, under the same conditions for all of our tests, this ensures that for all of our experiments the main effector is window size and the selection algorithm. From our tests we found that the Center Select on average outperforming the other selection algorithm, this result indicate that medical information is mostly centered around the scan, and when combined with the saving of 60% less parameters, the purposed method shows a new way of processing 3D Scans for processing with a 2D CNN model. © 2024 IEEE.

This research study focuses on the prediction of inflation rates using two distinct models, Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), tailored to accommodate the temporal resolutions of monthly and quarterly inflation data. While a comprehensive evaluation across varying time horizons was not conducted, the results suggest that the ARIMA model excels in short-term forecasting, as evidenced by its impressive performance on a 2021 holdout dataset. Conversely, the LSTM model displays potential for medium-term predictions. This study underscores the significance of aligning forecasting models with data characteristics, emphasizes the importance of temporal resolution, and discusses potential avenues for improvement, such as multivariate modeling or alternative techniques like Prophet. The findings have broad implications for economists, policymakers, and analysts seeking precise inflation forecasts, shedding light on the nuanced interplay between models and data in the domain of inflation prediction. © 2023 IEEE.

Optical speed sensors based on the spatial frequency filter method are a proven technology that offer high measurement accuracy over a wide speed range. Newly developed variants also enable measurements at very low speeds and increase the robustness of the method [1]. This makes the sensor very suitable for use in the area of functional safety. A measurement chain up to safety integrity level 3 (SIL3) should be feasible via a combination with a safety system on a chip (SoC) for evaluating the measurement data and an extension of the sensor module to include safety-related elements [2], [3]. By integrating the sensor at IC level, a compact overall solution is to be made possible. After the first successful tests with the safety SoC, further examinations of the measuring method with regard to functional safety are now necessary. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper describes PULSAR, our system submission at the ImageClef 2023 MediQA-Sum task on summarising patient-doctor dialogues into clinical records. The proposed framework relies on domain-specific pre-training, to produce a specialised language model which is trained on task-specific natural data augmented by synthetic data generated by a black-box LLM. We find limited evidence towards the efficacy of domain-specific pre-training and data augmentation, while scaling up the language model yields the best performance gains.
