This paper presents a preliminary analysis of an Indoor Positioning System (IPS) designed for forklifts using Wi-Fi signal fingerprinting and the K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) algorithm. The system utilizes M5stack (ESP32) devices programmed with MicroPython and collects Wi-Fi signal data from multiple access points. By creating a fingerprint database and employing KNN for position determination, the system achieved a location accuracy rate of 86% in a precision test of 15 reference points and an overall accuracy rate of 90% with an average error of 1.5 meters. These results demonstrate the system's potential for enhancing navigation and efficiency in warehouse operations. © 2024 IEEE.

A transformer is a key component in the electrical power distribution system. To maintain the continuity and reliability of the power system, it is essential to ensure the reliability of the energy distribution system. Factors affecting the quality of electrical energy include current, voltage, and temperature. With an increase in load, the transformer's temperature and current can rise, and the increase in current can be influenced by excessive load, thus raising the transformer's temperature. The temperature rise can also be influenced by the environmental conditions inside the transformer room. Excessive temperature in the transformer room can lead to explosions. Therefore, this thesis research aims to design a prototype monitoring device based on WiFi for parameters such as current, voltage, and temperature, to provide real-time information about the transformer's condition. The results of this research show that the prototype monitoring device for the transformer provides values very close to manual calculations, with the largest error percentages being 2.18% for current measurement, 1.04% for voltage measurement, and 3.3% for temperature measurement. This prototype monitoring device also provides information to the user when the current value in the circuit reaches 2A, making it easier for the user to identify potential transformer faults before they lead to damage. The transformer's efficiency ranges from 99.54% to 99.82%. Maintenance is required for the transformer as it approaches high temperatures to ensure optimal transformer performance. © 2023 IEEE.

In the current day, digital transformation is imperative;both customer demand and market competitiveness are mostly driving that trend. Wireless sensors and actor networks (WSANs) have been widely used in various fields, from basic data collection to precise real-time control and monitoring, including battlefield monitoring, rescue, and exploration. The actor nodes in a WSAN play a key role in processing and transmitting data, and because of the harsh environmental conditions encountered, network node failures are prone to occur. The failure of an actor causes a loss of connectivity with its neighbor nodes, resulting in network splits and failure to deliver messages between nodes. Therefore, determining how to quickly and autonomously recover network connectivity while minimizing the moving distance of backup nodes and the number of relocated nodes is crucial. In this paper, we propose a dynamic weight-based connectivity recovery (DWCR) method to minimize the total moving distance of actor nodes, the number of relocated nodes, the total messages sent, and the coverage loss rate. The proposed DWCR method involves selecting a backup node for each critical node by dynamically adjusting the weight. If a critical node fails, the backup node starts to move to restore the connectivity of the failed node. The simulation results indicate that the proposed DWCR method outperforms the recovery through inward motion (RIM) method and other methods in terms of minimizing the total moving distance, the number of relocated nodes, and the total messages sent. However, because the RIM algorithm requires the relocation of more nodes during the network process, the DWCR algorithm is slightly inferior to the RIM algorithm in terms of coverage loss rate. Nevertheless, the DWCR algorithm still outperforms the distributed actor recovery algorithm and the distributed autonomous connectivity restoration method based on finite state machine algorithm. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature.

In this paper, the dynamic warehouse location problem is considered. A Tabu search algorithm (TSA) is proposed to solve the problem. The procedure is tested on three generated benchmark problems. The small-sized problem includes 25 customers, 3 potential warehouse locations, and 3 planning horizon periods. The medium-sized problem consists of 50 customers, 5 potential warehouse locations, and 5 periods of the planning horizon. The large-sized problem consists of 100 customers, 10 potential warehouse locations, and 10 periods of the planning horizon. The proposed algorithm was compared with a solution method for mixed-integer linear programming in a cloud, CPLEX. The proposed algorithm provides reasonable solutions, while CPLEX could not provide solutions for medium and large problems in the limited computation time. © 2023 IEEE.

Despite technological advancements, ensuring aircraft safety remains a challenge, however, Machine learning (ML)-based approaches for predicting future incidents play a crucial role in addressing flight safety. As ML models increase in complexity, their decision-making process becomes less transparent, posing significant challenges to trustworthiness. While simpler models demonstrate lower accuracy, more intricate models such as deep neural networks achieve higher accuracy but sacrifice interpretability. In this study, we enhance trustworthiness in aircraft safety prediction by leveraging a dataset of past accidents and incidents to prevent similar accidents from occurring in the future. To achieve this, we apply Random Forest and Extreme Gradient Boosting models to classify different categories of aircraft incidents. Additionally, we apply two powerful explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) techniques: Local Interpretable Model-Agnostic Explanations (LIME) and Shapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) to provide insights into both local and global predictions made by the models. Notably, our results reveal high accuracy in these predictions while maintaining trustworthiness. This research contributes to the advancement of XAI and offers valuable insights for safety-critical applications and decision support systems. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.
