In today’s complex global environments, it is highly challenging to achieve effective healthcare management. The critical challenges faced by healthcare management are being met by the revolution of m-health where mobile cloud computing plays a major role. The taxonomy of mobile computing comprises operational aspects, end-user issues, and service quality and mobility management. The use of smartphone technologies and applications has become a highly significant approach to improving healthcare management. Mobile health services such as mobile pathology, mobile neurosurgery, cancer treatment, and behavioral/psychological disorders are gaining significance where smartphone applications are being used. Portability, flexibility, and convenience are major characteristics of mobile computing that have helped patients and doctors to develop better relationships through coordination and communication. The relationship between smartphone technologies and applications and healthcare management can be understood in several broad aspects. This article aims to analyze the current and future implications of these technologies on healthcare and disease management systems.

Human-computer interaction influences the effectiveness of e-learning knowledge transfer, so it is necessary to pay attention to user engagement and achievement. The aim of this research is to examine the factors that support e-learning knowledge transfer through achievement and user engagement (self-efficacy, self-confidence, self-esteem). The research method was carried out by surveying e-learning users, namely students, data from students was collected through quantitative questionnaires. The data is then processed using the SmartPLS tool through two tests, namely the PLS Algorithm and Boostrapping. The model was tested using inner and outer tests, and the data was analyzed based on the research hypothesis design. Student interactions with e-learning influence several behaviors that can support e-learning knowledge transfer performance. The research results prove that student e-learning achievement has a positive impact on e-learning knowledge transfer. Several supporting factors play a role in increasing e-learning achievement, namely self-efficacy, self-confidence and self-esteem of students. However, the supporting factors for students are only self-efficacy and self-confidence which are directly able to increase e-learning knowledge transfer. It is known that students who are less able to respect themselves in interacting with e-learning are unable to support knowledge transfer. The rules of human-computer interaction play a role in supporting e-learning knowledge transfer, studies on user behavior need to be considered, especially self-efficacy and self-confidence to support online learning academic performance. © 2024 IEEE.

Sports Science is an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary science that strives to increase athletic performance and endurance. Sport Science recognizes and prevents injuries. Sensors and statistics formalize Sports Science. Runners need coaches and teams to support them before, during, and after the run race. Coaches generate running training plans to boost performance. Running race performances may be impacted by air pollution exposure while training, so coaches should consider limiting air pollution exposure when training. One of the external factors is Particulate Matter (PM2.5 and PM10). Sensors connecting to the Internet can record external factors and produce csv data. The foundation of supervised machine learning is the labeling process. Labeling a set of data is one of the laborious and time-consuming phases in every machine-learning application because it requires verifying the accuracy of the labels and making any necessary revisions. This research aimed to find a solution to automatically label numerous air particulate matter raw data using a rule based on parameters to reduce manual work, human errors and faster processes. This labeled data will later be used for supervised machine learning classification to support the coach in generating training programs for the runners in a Sports information System. Based on Indonesia Air Quality index rule-based approach, labeled text data in csv has been generated and tested with PM2.5 and PM10 parameters in three scenarios with a 100% success rate. It was possible to automate the labeling process, and it explained how automation results in fast and accurate results. © 2023 IEEE.

In agricultural water research, the adoption of Internet of Things (IoT) technology has emerged as a pivotal approach for large-scale data collection. Water availability in the context of water quality is very important, both for domestic and industrial purposes. For domestic purposes, drinking water and bathing water are separated. Meanwhile, for the palm oil industry, boiler filler is differentiated from additional process water (dilution water). Water quality parameters can be assessed from turbidity and Total Dissolve Solid (TDS). Measurements using measuring instruments separately and repeatedly require significant energy, time, and costs. This research was conducted with the primary objective of presenting a novel method for categorizing water quality with the approach of IoT sensor technology. The research methodology entailed the utilization of an integrated IoT water sensors system in conjunction with manual water categorization. The methods consist of (1) system design, (2) design and installation of sensor and IoT-based microcontrollers, and (3) accuracy and precision testing compared with laboratory measurements. The precision of the integrated IoT water sensors was assessed through a dedicated sensor precision test, resulting in an accuracy rate of 94.4% for the turbidity sensor and 97.5% for the TDS sensor. Notably, this approach successfully discriminated drinking water with valid categorization, while other water types, including groundwater, water with tea, and water with coffee, yielded null categorization results. © 2023 IEEE.

Enhanced-SETL: A multi-variable deep reinforcement learning approach for contention window optimization in dense Wi-Fi networks

In this paper, we introduce the Enhanced Smart Exponential-Threshold-Linear (Enhanced-SETL) algorithm, a new approach that uses the multi-variable Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) framework to simultaneously optimize multiple settings of the Contention Window (CW) in IEEE 802.11 wireless networks. Unlike traditional DRL methods that adjust only a single CW parameter, our innovative approach simultaneously optimizes both the CW minimum (CWmin) and CW Threshold (CWThreshold), significantly improving network traffic control. We utilize a Double Deep Q-learning Network (DDQN) for dynamic updates of these CW settings, broadcasted across the dense Wi-Fi networks. This dual adjustment method, coupled with dynamic, data-driven updates, not only enhances throughput, but also reduces collision rates, and ensures fairness access across both static and dynamic wireless environments. Enhanced-SETL achieves a throughput improvement ranging from 3.55% up to 43.73% and from 3.98% up to 30.15% in static and dynamic scenarios over standard protocols and state-of-the-art DRL models, while maintaining a fairness index near 99% across diverse stations, showcasing its effectiveness and adaptability in various network conditions. © 2024

Dropout is a particular concern for countries striving to increase human capital. Various attempts have been made by universities to minimize the number of dropouts. Machine learning has also developed various predictive models to determine the likelihood of students dropping out. However, there is a challenge in dropout data, specifically the problem of class imbalance, where the number of students who drop out (minority class) is significantly less than those who do not drop out (majority class). This imbalance can reduce the model’s ability to classify students at risk of dropping out. This study proposes classification optimization using the Random Forest algorithm to handle class imbalances in student dropout data. To overcome class imbalance, the Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (SMOTE) and Edited Nearest Neighbors (ENN) techniques are used. Additionally, the attribute selection method is also applied to enhance the predictive results. The test results demonstrate that the combination of implementing feature selection with Chi-Square, followed by class imbalance handling with SMOTE-ENN, provided the most optimal predictive performance for identifying the status of both dropouts and graduates.

Diagnosis of diabetes disease is very promising because it may create various other acute or chronic health problems in the human body. This study proposes a recommendation system for diagnosis and treatment of Diabetes Mellitus as suggested by the Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG). A treatment plan is designed which includes medications and lifestyle changes, according to the patient information, symptoms, and lab tests. Various tasks such as gathering, modelling, and implementing diabetic domain expertise knowledge collected from the experts, CPG, and other sources are used to construct an ontology for diabetes and a decision support system to manage diabetes in its early stages. This work also uses an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and a Natural Language Processing (NLP) model that help directly to read doctors prescription and extract useful information useful for developing the ontology. Web Ontology Language (OWL) is used to build the proposed ontology, and the Semantic Web Rule Language (SWRL) is used to create the rules for providing restrictions on the ontology. © 2022 Institute of Advanced Engineering and Science (IAES).

Social media has now become a place for others to exchange information in the form of writing, photos, videos, and audio. Social media has become a place for humans to interact from all over the world. In the use of social media, attractive professional information is conceptualized as access to relevant information and opening up better career opportunities. User content about work and choosing personal information compilation strategies consistently predict information usefulness. This study discusses the effect of using a linked-in application on the success of its users in the professional world. It is hoped that it can provide insight into the use of this recruitment application, making it easier for users to find work. The research model used in this research is quantitative. The survey was conducted on connected users in Indonesia using an online questionnaire, and the data collected was analyzed using PLS-SEM. Of the 68 respondents who took the survey, it can be said that all research models have a positive relationship with the successful use of the linked-in platform. © 2022 IEEE.

NNSplit-SØREN: Supporting the model implementation of large neural networks in a programmable data plane

Embedding neural network (NN) models in the data plane is one of the very promising and attractive ways to leverage the computational power of computer network switches. This method became possible with the advent of the P4 language controlling the programmable data plane. However, most data planes today have some constraints, such as a limited set of operations and limited memory size. The computational cost of training large-scale NNs is high. In addition, while complex large-scale NN architectures are often used to improve prediction accuracy, they affect the functional performance of the data plane because of factors such as numerous input parameters and complex model design. Therefore, determining how to reduce the performance cost incurred by implementing large NN models in the data plane is a critical issue that needs to be addressed. This research proposes a technique called Neural Network Split (NNSplit) to solve the performance problems of embedding a large NN in a data plane by splitting the NN layers across multiple data planes. To support layer splitting, a new protocol called SuppORting ComplEx Computation in the Network (SØREN) is also proposed. The SØREN protocol header carries the activation value and bridges the NN layers in all switches. A multi-class classification use case of network traffic is used as the context for the experimental analysis. Experimental results show that compared to non-splitting NN architectures, NNSplit can reduce memory usage by nearly 50% and increase network traffic throughput with the cost of a 14% increase in round-trip time. In addition, when the SØREN protocol is encapsulated into data packets, the average processing time of the switch is 773 µs, which has very little impact on the processing time of the packets. Experimental results also show that the proposed NNSplit–SØREN can support large NN models on the data plane with a small performance cost. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.

The Innovative Nation competition is a Jordanian initiative that uses workshops, training camps, and competitions to improve students' general and soft skills, problem-solving, creativity, and invention. The curriculum is divided into three parts, each of which has the potential to increase interest in Science, technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The goal of this research is to determine how much the STEM competition has influenced students' education and decision to pursue jobs in science and technology. Personal interviews with students and mentors were employed in this study to assess their skill sets, prospective career paths, and interests. The collected data was reviewed, and it was found that participation in the Innovation Nation competition increased students' interest in STEM vocations. © 2023 IEEE.
