In recent years, making computers understand the emotions of users is necessary because emotions are an important factor in human communication. Among many methods of recognizing emotions, EEG is widely used because it has high temporal resolution and it is impossible to disguise intentionally. However, it is necessary to acquire new user data and construct the personal Emotion recognition model since EEG varies widely among individuals. The conventional methods lack practicality because it builds a different model for every new user data. Our method builds a model in a single training using new user data. To reduce the number of new user data for training and to relieve the burden of EEG measurement, we adapt existing user data. We absorb the individual differences in EEG between a new user and existing users by domain adaptation using a small number of new user data and construct a model by deep neural networks. From the experiments, we confirmed that the proposed method performs as well as the conventional methods, even though it is built with single training using new user data. © 2022 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

According to the trend of worldwide car sales have grown up, this cause may increase accidents on the road due to human error. The self-driverless car has been developed to solve this problem. One task of the self-driverless car is traffic sign detection and recognition (TSDR), which will help drivers notify the traffic sign installed on the road in advance. Taiwan roads have specific traffic signs, and no Taiwan traffic sign public dataset is available. In this paper, our proposed object detection method was experimentally performed using YOLOv5s6 and YOLOv8s models on three different datasets, as Tsinghua-Tencent 100K (TT100k), the self-created Taiwan traffic sign (TWTS), and the hybrid dataset, which combine the traffic scenes between TT100k and TWTS dataset. The output results from each dataset and each model, which is trained on the same parameter, will be compared to validate the proposed method. The experiment results’ comparison of the hybrid dataset between YOLOv5s6 and YOLOv8s models display the results of the mAP@.5 is about 65% and 76.2%, respectively, which means the performance of the YOLOv8s is higher than the YOLOv5s6 when using hybrid dataset.

In offshore aquaculture operations, personnel equipped with diving gear are often necessary to inspect the underwater net cages for damage, particularly on the sea floor. This manual inspection process is time-consuming and complex. To overcome this problem, this paper proposes a computer vision solution for identifying damage in underwater net cages to address the inefficiencies and challenges of traditional manual inspections. The proposed scheme utilizes a high-performance multi-branch computational architecture designed based on ShuffleNet architecture to detect net cage damage more efficiently. Experimental results demonstrate that this work performs well on the ImageNet ILSVRC-2010 dataset and achieves an accuracy of 88.54% in underwater net damage detection.

Dynamic programming is a fundamental algorithm that can be found in our daily lives easily. One of the dynamic programming algorithm implementations consists of solving the 0/1 knapsack problem. A 0/1 knapsack problem can be seen from industrial production cost. It is prevalent that a production cost has to be as efficient as possible, but the expectation is to get the proceeds of the products higher. Thus, the dynamic programming algorithm can be implemented to solve the diverse knapsack problem, one of which is the 0/1 knapsack problem, which would be the main focus of this paper. The implementation was implemented using C language. This paper was created as an early implementation algorithm using a Dynamic program algorithm applied to an Automatic Identification System (AIS) dataset. © 2023 IEEE.

A Novel Machine Learning Classifier Based on Genetic Algorithms and Data Importance Reformatting

In this paper, a novel classification algorithm that is based on Data Importance (DI) reformatting and Genetic Algorithms (GA) named GADIC is proposed to overcome the issues related to the nature of data which may hinder the performance of the Machine Learning (ML) classifiers. GADIC comprises three phases which are data reformatting phase which depends on DI concept, training phase where GA is applied on the reformatted training dataset, and testing phase where the instances of the reformatted testing dataset are being averaged based on similar instances in the training dataset. GADIC is an approach that utilizes the exiting ML classifiers with involvement of data reformatting, using GA to tune the inputs, and averaging the similar instances to the unknown instance. The averaging of the instances becomes the unknown instance to be classified in the stage of testing. GADIC has been tested on five existing ML classifiers which are Support Vector Machine (SVM), K-Nearest Neighbour (KNN), Logistic Regression (LR), Decision Tree (DT), and Naïve Bayes (NB). All were evaluated using seven open-source UCI ML repository and Kaggle datasets which are Cleveland heart disease, Indian liver patient, Pima Indian diabetes, employee future prediction, telecom churn prediction, bank customer churn, and tech students. In terms of accuracy, the results showed that, with the exception of approximately 1% decrease in the accuracy of NB classifier in Cleveland heart disease dataset, GADIC significantly enhanced the performance of most ML classifiers using various datasets. In addition, KNN with GADIC showed the greatest performance gain when compared with other ML classifiers with GADIC followed by SVM while LR had the lowest improvement. The Plasmodium parasite, which causes malaria, is an acute fever illness that infects people when a female Anopheles mosquito bites them. It is predicted that malaria would claim 619,000 lives in 2021, with 96% of those deaths occurring in the African continent. We can achieve this by using a microscope to examine thick and thin blood smears. The proficiency of a microscope examiner is crucial for doing microscopic examinations. Consider how time-consuming, ineffective, and costly it would be to examine thousands of malaria cases. Consequently, Creating an automated method for detecting malaria parasites is the aim of this study. We employ a MobileNetV2 pretrained model with CNN technology. Because it has been trained on dozens or even millions of data points, this pretrained model is incredibly light but dependable. There are two main benefits of automatic malaria parasite detection: firstly, it can offer a more accurate diagnosis, particularly in locations with limited resources; secondly, it lowers diagnostic expenses. The optimizer utilizes Adam Weight, the criteria uses NLLLoss, and the model is trained using 32 for batch_size. In the fourteenth epoch, we obtained the maximum accuracy score of 96.26% based on the training data. The outcomes of the predictions demonstrate how excellent this score is. EfficienceNet, DenseNet, AlexNet, and other pretrained models are among the alternatives that scientists are advised to try training with.

The cyber-physical production system (CPPS) was developed for the interconnection between operational technology (OT) and information and communication technology (ICT) among the machines and decentralized production control. However, OT and ICT are now getting more complex in the modern industry. To enhance industrial management and production process, the CPPS based on the 5G architecture under production environments can provide a more comprehensive solution in the context of Industry 4.0. For this purpose, a 5G CPPS model to improve the interoperability of CPPS in ICT and OT is proposed to build a virtualized Industry 4.0 asset management shell system. First, real-time task artifacts and 5G communication modules are bound in a certain form of virtualization. Second, task artifacts are released to the production line in a real-time scheduling. Third, an order is placed on a production line and split into multiple tasks for production process. Single-machine single-workpiece and multi-machine and multi-workpiece processing cases are used for testing in the production line. Experimental results show that the proposed 5G CPPS can efficiently achieve multi-machine work piece processing. © 2022, The Author(s).

Machine learning has been employed to automatically detect the defects on car engines in several studies. One of crucial challenges on applying machine learning is on the amount of defect data collected is often large with high dimensional data, making manual detection inefficient and inaccurate. The other problem is on the missing data as oftentimes the collected data are incomplete. In this paper, we employ machine learning frameworks for engine defect detection. It comprises the data pre-processing stage which includes imputing missing value data, then performing feature correlation using the Pearson method, and selecting the features to use. After that, the label encoder and standard scaler are carried out. The experimental process begins with creating a baseline, then continues with improving imbalance data using SMOTE, and feature reconstruction using variational autoencoder (VAE). Afterwards, for classification, we employ convolutional neural networks (CNN). The proposed method achieved precision 99.63%. We collect engine quality dataset of 224,239 data with 90 features from major automobile manufacturing in Indonesia. This showed that SMOTE and Variational Autoencoder dimensional reconstruction method can overcome defect predictions in car engine defect data with data imbalance conditions. This novel methodology distinguished our study from prior methods and shows considerable increases in precision and recall matrix.
