The ability to simulate a fermionic system on a quantum computer is expected to revolutionize chemical engineering, materials design, nuclear physics, to name a few. Thus, optimizing the simulation circuits is of significance in harnessing the power of quantum computers. Here, we address this problem in two aspects. In the fault-tolerant regime, we optimize the rz and t gate counts along with the ancilla qubit counts required, assuming the use of a product-formula algorithm for implementation. We obtain a savings ratio of two in the gate counts and a savings ratio of eleven in the number of ancilla qubits required over the state of the art. In the pre-fault tolerant regime, we optimize the two-qubit gate counts, assuming the use of the variational quantum eigensolver (VQE) approach. Specific to the latter, we present a framework that enables bootstrapping the VQE progression towards the convergence of the ground-state energy of the fermionic system. This framework, based on perturbation theory, is capable of improving the energy estimate at each cycle of the VQE progression, by about a factor of three closer to the known ground-state energy compared to the standard VQE approach in the test-bed, classically-accessible system of the water molecule. The improved energy estimate in turn results in a commensurate level of savings of quantum resources, such as the number of qubits and quantum gates, required to be within a pre-specified tolerance from the known ground-state energy. We also explore a suite of generalized transformations of fermion to qubit operators and show that resource-requirement savings of up to more than 20%, in small instances, is possible. © 2020, CC BY.

The development of natural language processing algorithms and the explosive growth of conversational data are encouraging researches on the human-computer conversation. Still, getting qualified conversational data on a large scale is difficult and expensive. In this paper, we verify the feasibility of constructing a data-driven chatbot with processed online community posts by using them as pseudo-conversational data. We argue that chatbots for various purposes can be built extensively through the pipeline exploiting the common structure of community posts. Range verification of therapeutic proton beam is crucial in proton therapy to confirm the irradiation field for ensuring effects and safety of the treatment. The irradiation field reconstruction using prompt gamma-rays generated from excited nuclides by proton beam has being studied for the purpose of precision medicine. A simulation tool based on fundamental physics processes employs an important role to understand intermediate relationship between physics interactions and detected observables, and to optimize a detector system with its analysis method. Previously, we reported on the simulation study about an irradiation field reconstruction by using prompt gamma-rays of whole energy range. In this study, we analyzed the energy spectrum and reconstructed the image of irradiation field by using prompt gamma-rays corresponding to a particular energy peak. The simulation was performed for proton beam with a target placed at the isocenter by using Geant4 based particle therapy system simulation framework. A simple tubular detector was placed around the target, in which the kinetic energy and the detected position of each gamma-ray were recorded. The irradiation field was then reconstructed in the ordered subset expectation maximization method. The reconstructed irradiation fields were compared with the dose distribution in the target. The peak positions of these depth distributions were compared each other and discussed about the range verification of therapeutic proton beam.

KAGRA, the underground and cryogenic gravitational-wave detector, was operated for its solo observation from February 25 to March 10, 2020, and its first joint observation with the GEO 600 detector from April 7 to April 21, 2020 (O3GK). This study presents an overview of the input optics systems of the KAGRA detector, which consist of various optical systems, such as a laser source, its intensity and frequency stabilization systems, modulators, a Faraday isolator, mode-matching telescopes, and a high-power beam dump. These optics were successfully delivered to the KAGRA interferometer and operated stably during the observations. The laser frequency noise was observed to limit the detector sensitivity above a few kilohertz, whereas the laser intensity did not significantly limit the detector sensitivity.

Web applications continue to grow however web attacks are also increasing, this shows an increase in web application vulnerabilities. Several methods have been used to detect vulnerabilities in web applications such as black-box testing, dynamic analysis, and static analysis. In this article, we propose a framework for detecting web application vulnerabilities by combining all three methods. The strengths of one method are used to overcome the weaknesses of another method. This framework is believed to provide better results than if each method was used separately.

Classification is an important technique in data mining to create patterns and data modeling. Hepatitis is a disease that is dangerous to humans as this disease affects the human liver which is a vital organ. Early detection of hepatitis by diagnosing its occurrence on patients is needed to give them help, care, and treatment. Therefore, a classification technique is required to create patterns and models of data. To achieve accuracy in classifying hepatitis there would be requirements to separate relevant from irrelevant features. By only considering relevance features in classifying hepatitis, it is expected that the classification process will be faster, easier, and more accurate. In this research, the ANFIS algorithm and genetic algorithm are used in classifying the diagnosis of hepatitis based on a dataset from the UCI data mining repository. Results obtained showed that the genetic algorithm gave a slightly higher accuracy of 98.73% compared to 86.67% results obtained using ANFIS.

Currently, the growth of information and technology is rapid. It makes a lot of things in various fields including education becoming more effective and efficient. In education, one of its implementation which is a game is proven to be a useful tool to support conventional teaching methods and bring a more natural understanding of learning materials. Moreover, as a product of the popular culture in modern society, video game mirrors the general culture practice in real life and reflects it via its own culture inside the game. This makes a video game can give a contribution to the social construction of reality as it affects the player's view towards learning in real life and vice versa. From there, we see that there is an opportunity for learning about religion to be supported by its utilization to provide an interactive and fun learning experience. In this paper, we discuss how a video game is implemented to support religious learning. The game was developed with the scrum method where we surveyed to gather the user requirements before the design step. The game design was made by using the use case diagram and storyboard, and it was built using Unity version 2017.3.0f3.

The development of Internet of Things (IoT) makes the application of smart homes grow rapidly. It is very popular to install smart appliances in the house. However, building a smart control system at home not only costs a lot but also has many limitations. For this reason, this study proposes a smart homes control system to easily integrate IoT, WSN, smart robot and single-board computer to implement smart home applications. We use wireless technology and automatic equipment to avoid excessive communication cable and to make the house more intelligent to keep in-house movement unimpeded and indoor space tidy and to let appliance adjust appropriate environment settings automatically. This system brings intelligence and convenience to home, making living environment more comfortable. © 2018 IEEE.
