This paper implements an automatic bird data capture system which uploads data captured from social network websites to the server and stores them in the database. When using the Facebook API to capture data of interest, the system needs to filter the captured data to avoid false data storage. This paper takes building an automatic system that includes reinforcing the training database of the bird community as a top priority.

BACKGROUND:As in many countries worldwide, due to the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, higher institutions in Nigeria closed in March 2020 and only began reopening in October of the same year. As a result of the lockdown, some higher institutions had to quickly move from the traditional face-to-face teaching method to virtual learning. This study aimed to investigate the impact of COVID-19 lockdown on education in Nigeria and also provide recommendations that may be useful in developing remote teaching contingency strategies. Five-point Likert-scale questionnaire targeting students and teachers separately was designed to get feedbacks from both students and teachers on their experiences, issues and successes. The questionnaires were divided into five categories: virtual classrooms, course learning outcomes, alternative method of assessment, impact of online teaching and satisfaction. RESULTS:A total of 703 students and 60 teachers from five different local universities participated in this study. All participants (> 50%) had difficulties with Internet connection. Students (67%) as well as teachers (59%) agree that they had limited interactions with one another and this negatively influence student's satisfaction ( < 0.01). While students were split on the most appropriate method of assessment, teachers (63%) believe assignments and oral examinations are more suitable for online teaching. Many teachers (66%) admitted that it was difficult assessing students' abilities and performance. Some students (> 40%) were concerned about the number of assignments given. Most teachers (84%) believe there is an increase in tendency for examination malpractice when assessment was conducted virtually. Students had significantly ( < 0.05) higher marks in all courses during online assessment compared to previous session involving face-to-face teaching. Background: The joint impact of exposure to multiple urban environmental factors on asthma remains unclear. Methods: We analysed data from 14 European cohorts to assess the impact of the urban exposome on asthma incidence across the life course. We linked three external exposome domains (air pollution, built environment, ambient temperature) to the participants’ home addresses at baseline. We performed k-means clustering within each domain and assessed associations of clusters with asthma adjusting for potentially relevant covariates in cohort-specific analyses, with subsequent separate meta-analyses for birth and adult cohorts. An environmental risk score using a coefficient-weighted sum approach was used to assess the impact of combining the three domains. Findings: A total of 7428 incident asthma cases were identified among 349,037 participants (from birth up to age 70+). Overall, we observed higher risks of asthma for clusters characterized by high particulate matter and nitrogen dioxide exposure in adults (OR_meta = 1.13, 95%CI:1.01–1.25), and clusters characterized by high built-up area and low levels of greenness in both children and adults (OR_meta = 1.36, 95%CI: 1.14–1.64 for birth cohorts and OR_meta = 1.15, 95%CI: 1.03–1.28 for adult cohorts, respectively). The joint exposure using the environment risk score combining the three domains was consistently associated with higher risks of incident asthma (OR_meta = 1.13, 95%CI: 1.07–1.20 for birth cohorts, OR_meta = 1.15, 95%CI: 1.10–1.20 for adult cohorts per 20% increase). On average 11.6% of the incident asthma cases could be attributed to environmental risk score above cohort-specific median levels. Interpretation: Multiple environmental exposures jointly contribute to incident asthma risk across the life course. Urban planning accounting for these factors may help mitigate asthma development. Decision problems of stochastic or probabilistic optimization arise when certain coefficient of an optimization model are not fixed or known but are instead, to some extent, stochastic(or random or probabilistic) quantities. This paper focused on multiobjective stochastic optimization. We propose a method for solving a multiobjective chance constraints integer programming problem based on interactive approach. We assume that there is randomness in the right-hand sides of the constraints only and that the random variables are normally distributed. Some examples are presented.

This paper aims to facilitate the owner to control water pump machine from the vacuum, and the condition of the water is it full or not in house or apartment. The current control system still has many limitations in controlling the water pump machine at home or apartment. The water machine control system was designed with device that has a smart surveillance system that can be accessed with Android smartphone and all information from or to machine control system will command by using SMS, this device create a development of Arduino UNO microcontroller technology that allows the reading of the GSM Module and connected with SMS Gateway. Experiment results facilitate real-time water control and much easy for the owner to control water tank. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

FINDING CONTINUITY AND DISCONTINUITY IN FISH SCHOOLS VIA INTEGRATED information THEORY

Collective behaviour is known to be the result of diverse dynamics and is sometimes likened to a living system. Although many studies have revealed the dynamics of various collective behaviours, their main focus was on the information process inside the collective, not on the whole system itself. For example, the qualitative difference between two elements and three elements as a system has rarely been investigated. Tononi et al. have proposed Integrated information Theory (IIT) to measure the degree of consciousness Φ. IIT postulates that the amount of information loss caused by certain partitions is equivalent to the degree of information integration in the system. This measure is not only useful for estimating the degree of consciousness but can also be applied to more general network systems. Here we applied IIT (in particular, IIT 3.0 using PyPhi) to analyse real fish schools (Plecoglossus altivelis). Our hypothesis in this study is a very simple one: a living system evolves to raise its Φ value. If we accept this hypothesis, IIT reveals the existence of continuous and discontinuous properties as group size varies. For example, leadership in the fish school emerged for a school size of four or above;but not below three. Furthermore, this transition was not observed by measuring mutual information or in a simple Boids model. This result suggests that integrated information Φ can reveal some inherent properties which cannot be observed using other measures. We also discuss how the fish recognition of the figure-ground relation, that is, what determines the relevant ON and OFF states, may reveal various optimal paths for obtaining the functional evolution of collective behaviour. The ability of an eavesdropper (Eve) to perform an intercept-resend attack on a free-space quantum key distribution (QKD) receiver by precisely controlling the incidence angle of an attack laser has been previously demonstrated. However, such an attack could be ineffective in the presence of atmospheric turbulence due to beam wander and spatial mode aberrations induced by the air’s varying index of refraction. We experimentally investigate the impact turbulence has on Eve’s attack on a free-space polarization-encoding QKD receiver by emulating atmospheric turbulence with a spatial light modulator. Our results identify how well Eve would need to compensate for turbulence to perform a successful attack by either reducing her distance to the receiver, or using beam wavefront correction via adaptive optics. Furthermore, we use an entanglement-breaking scheme to find a theoretical limit on the turbulence strength that hinders Eve’s attack. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Traditional disease surveillance systems depend on outpatient reporting and virological test results released by hospitals. These data have valid and accurate information about emerging outbreaks but it's often not timely. In recent years the exponential growth of users getting connected to social media provides immense knowledge about epidemics by sharing related information. Social media can now flag more immediate concerns related to outbreaks in real time. In this paper we apply the long short-term memory recurrent neural network (RNN) architecture to classify tweets conveyed influenza-related information and compare its performance with baseline algorithms including support vector machine (SVM), decision tree, naive Bayes, simple logistics, and naive Bayes multinomial. The developed RNN model achieved an F-score of 0.845 on the MedWeb task test set, which outperforms the F-score of SVM without applying the synthetic minority oversampling technique by 0.08. The F-score of the RNN model is within 1% of the highest score achieved by SVM with oversampling technique. © 2017 AFNLP

Depth Image-Based Rendering (DIBR) is an approach to generate a 3-D image by the original 2-D color image with the corresponding 2-D depth map. Although DIBR is a quite convenient to convert 2D images to 3D ones, there is a disadvantage in DIBR system that it cannot reach real-time processing due to the computing time. Against this, this paper proposes a method which is based on discrete wavelet transform and adaptive edge-oriented smoothing process, to speed up the computing of the system. The proposed method still preserves the original texture and thus the proposed method not only preserves the vertical texture but also reduces at least 60% of the computing time of the DIBR system. © 2018 computer Society of the Republic of China. In this paper, we applied K-means++, Agglomerative and Decision Tree techniques to classify characteristics of Thai business organizations toward the perceived benefit of predictive analytics. We believe that different characteristics of business organizations require different solution approaches to overcome challenges and gain business value. In the exploratory survey, we collected 84 respondents, who are data analysts, business analysts, business owners, management, and IT managers. The respondents' size of organization varies from small firms to large firms. The result from three techniques of classification shows that Thai business organizations perceiving the benefit of predictive analytics could be divided into two groups. We further confirmed that with the analysis of variance technique to identify the difference of means in each parameter. We also found that the most important descriptive profile is led by customer-related factors such as a change in the percentage of customers, the number of direct customers, and number of sales and marketing staff. These are followed by technology factors, which are the number of external and internal data sources and number of analytics and technologies currently used for data analytics.
