Most practical uses of Dynamic Bayesian Networks (DBNs) involve temporal inuences of the first order, i.e., inuences between neighboring time steps. This choice is a convenient approximation inuenced by the existence of efficient algorithms for first order models and limitations of available tools. We focus on the question whether constructing higher time-order models is worth the effort when the underlying system's memory goes beyond the current state. We present the results of an experiment with a series of DBN models monitoring woman's monthly cycle. We show that higher order models are significantly more accurate. However, we have also observed overfitting and a resulting decrease in accuracy when the time order chosen is too high.

Organizations have been relying on collaboration for productivity improvement and knowledge sharing. The first step to foster collaboration in organizations is to make it explicit. With this aim, the Collaboration Maturity Model (CollabMM) was proposed and evaluated. The lessons learned during model applications in previous work pointed out the need to review both the model and its evaluation instruments. A literature review also showed some improvement opportunities. Therefore, the objective of this work is to develop a roadmap to highlight the main opportunities of evolution in CollabMM. These opportunities will compose our research agenda in this topic and guide future work.

In an uncertain environment, information is needed primarily to support the performance of organization in decision-making. information Systems is an orderly combination of human, hardware, software and communication network of data resources, which collect, modify, and distribute information within an organization to support organizational decision-making and control. But before the IS/IT is implemented, it is worth considering the antecedent factors that may be used as reference to see the history before the IS/IT is implemented, whether antecedent factors of IS/IT implementation has correlation and influence on organizational performance. Antecedent factors consist of six aspects, which are social factors, attitudes, support conditions, system complexity, long-term consequences and habits. This study aims to find empirical evidence that there is correlation and influence between antecedent factors of IS/IT implementation and organizational performance. Using Pearson correlation analysis and Regression analysis for the testing, the results obtained showed that attitude, facilitating conditions and system complexity have correlation with organizational performance. Among these, only attitude and facilitating condition that influence organizational performance.

Background: In bioinformatics projects, scientific workflow systems are widely used to manage computational procedures. Full-featured workflow systems have been proposed to fulfil the demand for workflow management. However, such systems tend to be over-weighted for actual bioinformatics practices. We realize that quick deployment of cutting-edge software implementing advanced algorithms and data formats, and continuous adaptation to changes in computational resources and the environment are often prioritized in scientific workflow management. These features have a greater affinity with the agile software development method through iterative development phases after trial and error. Here, we show the application of a scientific workflow system Pwrake to bioinformatics workflows. Pwrake is a parallel workflow extension of Ruby's standard build tool Rake, the flexibility of which has been demonstrated in the astronomy domain. Therefore, we hypothesize that Pwrake also has advantages in actual bioinformatics workflows. Findings. We implemented the Pwrake workflows to process next generation sequencing data using the Genomic Analysis Toolkit (GATK) and Dindel. GATK and Dindel workflows are typical examples of sequential and parallel workflows, respectively. We found that in practice, actual scientific workflow development iterates over two phases, the workflow definition phase and the parameter adjustment phase. We introduced separate workflow definitions to help focus on each of the two developmental phases, as well as helper methods to simplify the descriptions. This approach increased iterative development efficiency. Moreover, we implemented combined workflows to demonstrate modularity of the GATK and Dindel workflows. Conclusions: Pwrake enables agile management of scientific workflows in the bioinformatics domain. Sliding mode control (SMC) has been considered as a powerful method for disturbances rejection. On the other hand, we have presented an equivalent-input disturbance (EID) approach to reject disturbances. This paper takes a dual-stage feed drive as an example to compare these two methods. The example shows that, while the EID approach obtains almost the same disturbance rejection performance for matched disturbances as that of the SMC does, it can reject unmatched disturbances. This shows the superiority of the EID approach over SMC method.

This paper formalizes the concept of logical structure and presents three basic ways of logical structure construction, i.e., generating a logical structure from a specialization system, constructing a conjunctive logical structure, and logical structure morphing. Instantiations of the proposed framework in the context of first-order logic, clausal-form logic, and a basic description logic are illustrated.
