Artificial intelligence self-efficacy: Scale development and validation

With the development of artificial intelligence (AI) applications, it has become critical for scholars, educators and practitioners to understand an individual’s perceived self-efficacy regarding the use of AI technologies/products. Understanding users’ subsequent behaviors toward the advancement of AI technology is also critical. Despite the growing focus on AI, a suitable scale for measuring AI self-efficacy (AISE) has yet to be developed. Current scales for measuring AISE (i.e., technology self-efficacy scales) are considered inapplicable because they neglect to evaluate perceptions of specific AI characteristics (e.g., AI-based configuration or anthropomorphic design). Given the limitations of existing self-evaluation and diagnostic instruments, the aim of this research is to investigate the construct of AISE, and develop and validate an AISE scale (AISES) for measuring an individual’s perceived self-efficacy in regard to the use of AI technologies/products, in accordance with established exploratory and confirmatory scale development procedures. Specifically, a literature review is employed to generate initial items. An exploratory factor analysis is then performed for item purification purposes. At this stage, potential elements of AISE are extracted. Subsequently, factor extraction and confirmatory factor analysis are used to verify the construct structure of AISE. An analysis of 314 responses indicates that the AISE construct contains four factors: assistance, anthropomorphic interaction, comfort with AI, and technological skills. The scale is comprised of 22 items, and is found to have good fit, reliability, convergent validity, discriminant validity, content validity, and criterion-related validity. Moreover, nomological validity is built by the positive correlation between the AISE construct and motivated learning behaviors. In the modern age of rapid global information circulation, public opinion on social media reflects differences in people's opinions on a certain issue. These opinions can include emotions, likes and dislikes, etc. Once an incident happens, many social media gather a lot of discussions. Such situations let us to analyze the public's perception and preferences through public opinion analysis. Moreover, people cannot live without food, thus our team takes gourmet restaurants as an entry point to develop a public opinion analysis platform for gourmet restaurants. This study uses Python web crawler technology to capture data from public websites, such as PTT, Dcard, and Google Maps user comments. Then we extract public opinion data in the last year, clean and sort the data, and combine the sentiment analysis tool SnowNLP, analyze the positive and negative emotions of users’ comments in various restaurants. And we screen out the top popular restaurants in the form of scores, build a website entry function so that users can query and view the names, ratings of various restaurants, and emotional scores sorted out by our team. Since the emergence of Pokémon Go in 2016, the world has been introduced to Augmented Reality (AR) games. Many IT companies have begun developing augmented reality (AR) games due to the great commercial potential in this industry. Certain products may have managed to remain viable in the market, while others were forced to close due to one or two factors. Since the emergence of Pokémon Go, no other game has managed to surpass its unprecedented success. The company responsible for developing Pokémon Go has decided to shut down one of their games due to a lack of consumer interest. The technology of augmented reality (AR) is consistently associated with the concept of immersion. Immersion is a key aspect of the game that allows users to deeply engage and feel fully involved in the experience. This study will employ a quantitative methodology, utilising a questionnaire that will be distributed to and completed by those who have engaged in augmented reality (AR) games. The data will be analysed using Smart PLS to examine the impact of user experience on immersion, which in turn influences intention. After gathering over 200 participants by spreading google form questionnaires and doing data analysis, the findings indicate that only a few aspects of user experience, namely Brand Experience and User Need Experience, have an impact on reasons. Niantic, the developer of Pokémon Go, was unable to replicate their success with a similar augmented reality game called Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. The initial release occurred on June 21, 2019, and the shutdown took place on December 21, 2021. In the beginning, they shown a profound enthusiasm for the game but were unable to sustain it, much as Pokémon Go. Ontario, the most populous province and the main driver of economic growth in Canada, has been plagued by rising healthcare costs and declining health quality. Firmly believing that care integration is integral to health quality and efficiency of the healthcare system, the Ontario government has embarked on its journey of healthcare system transformation. The case, by taking a snapshot of its transition from the Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) model to the Ontario Health Team model, offers insights into the governance of the LHIN model as well as the initiative of integrating a myriad of healthcare information systems to support care integration. After 12 years’ controversial operation of LHINs, the government dissolved the organization and announced its plan to switch to the Ontario Health Team model. Under the new model, Ontario Health Teams would be responsible for providing a full and coordinated spectrum of care for patients, especially those with complex care needs. The global population is undergoing major demographic changes, with the number of older people increasing and the number of children decreasing. There are nearly 50 million people worldwide with Alzheimer's disease, and that number is expected to exceed 130 million by 2050, according to the International Dementia Association. Lack of engagement in mental and physical activities will lead to cognitive decline and various health problems in older adults. To address these challenges, this study proposes the use of an artificial intelligence model to develop a personalized game that analyzes users' activity data and provides timely feedback on appropriate health-promoting activities. By following the suggestions provided by the game, users can engage in health-promoting activities that are appropriate to their needs, ensuring that the intensity of the activity is not too high or too low. The artificial intelligence dynamically adjusts the game content according to the user's current state to achieve a progressive and targeted health promotion effect. The experimental results show that the system developed in this study is effective in promoting the health of the elderly. © 2023 ACM.

Research on the study of houses, condominiums and buildings in Taiwan’s metropolitan areas continues to be an important area of research. In real estate forecasting and analysis, methods such as statistical analysis and questionnaire data collection are widely used. However, when multidimensional data is considered, these methods are time-consuming and inadequate. This study aimed to build a real estate forecasting model that can adapt to a changing environment. Data were collected from public government databases, the collected data were standardized for accurate clustering, an appropriate data clustering algorithm was applied to the standardized data, and cross-statistical analysis was performed to verify the adopted algorithm. We used a deep learning based on autoencoder algorithm to increase the accuracy of the clustering analysis. A double-bottom map particle swarm optimization (DBM-PSO) clustering algorithm was then used to determine the optimal clustering solution. Cluster analysis and deep learning were conducted on data collected from public websites to understand the factors that led to the sustained increase in housing prices in Taiwan over the past decade. The results of this study indicate that three key factors—the number of real estate transactions, the average unit price of real estate transactions, and the building material and construction index—significantly affected real estate prices in Taiwan. Our results could help researchers and governments to focus on specific aspects of real estate development without being influenced by other related factors. In addition, the relationships between real estate trends and the aforementioned three key factors were determined to obtain valuable information that can enable the Taiwanese government to regulate the property market and prevent excessive growth. Wireless sensors and actor networks (WSANs) have been widely used in various fields, from basic data collection to precise real-time control and monitoring, including battlefield monitoring, rescue, and exploration. The actor nodes in a WSAN play a key role in processing and transmitting data, and because of the harsh environmental conditions encountered, network node failures are prone to occur. The failure of an actor causes a loss of connectivity with its neighbor nodes, resulting in network splits and failure to deliver messages between nodes. Therefore, determining how to quickly and autonomously recover network connectivity while minimizing the moving distance of backup nodes and the number of relocated nodes is crucial. In this paper, we propose a dynamic weight-based connectivity recovery (DWCR) method to minimize the total moving distance of actor nodes, the number of relocated nodes, the total messages sent, and the coverage loss rate. The proposed DWCR method involves selecting a backup node for each critical node by dynamically adjusting the weight. If a critical node fails, the backup node starts to move to restore the connectivity of the failed node. The simulation results indicate that the proposed DWCR method outperforms the recovery through inward motion (RIM) method and other methods in terms of minimizing the total moving distance, the number of relocated nodes, and the total messages sent. However, because the RIM algorithm requires the relocation of more nodes during the network process, the DWCR algorithm is slightly inferior to the RIM algorithm in terms of coverage loss rate. Nevertheless, the DWCR algorithm still outperforms the distributed actor recovery algorithm and the distributed autonomous connectivity restoration method based on finite state machine algorithm. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature.

The purpose of this study is to address the issue of a shortage of caregivers for the elderly in an aging society. Elderly individuals living alone at home may experience various sudden health issues such as falls and emergencies. However, healthcare professionals may not have access to the individuals at that moment. Having access to real-time data can assist medical professionals in making more informed decisions about the patient's conditions. Thus, using FMCW millimeter-wave radar, we track the vital signs of individuals through a non-contact method in point clouds. Additionally, RGB cameras and the human pose estimation tool, OpenPose, are used to monitor and analyze motions and activities in public spaces, detecting special events such as falls and fainting and issuing alerts for immediate rescue to minimize further harm. This approach facilitates the exchange of information between medical professionals and patients, thereby reducing the likelihood of unfortunate incidents and improving patient outcomes. © 2023 IEEE.

Obstacle removal in crowd evacuation is critical to safety and the evacuation system efficiency. Recently, manyresearchers proposed game theoreticmodels to avoid and remove obstacles for crowd evacuation. Game theoreticalmodels aim to study and analyze the strategic behaviors of individuals within a crowd and their interactionsduring the evacuation. Game theoretical models have some limitations in the context of crowd evacuation. Thesemodels consider a group of individuals as homogeneous objects with the same goals, involve complex mathematicalformulation, and cannot model real-world scenarios such as panic, environmental information, crowds that movedynamically, etc. The proposed work presents a game theoretic model integrating an agent-based model to removethe obstacles from exits. The proposed model considered the parameters named: (1) obstacle size, length, andwidth, (2) removal time, (3) evacuation time, (4) crowd density, (5) obstacle identification, and (6) route *** proposed work conducts various experiments considering different conditions, such as obstacle types, obstacleremoval, and several obstacles. Evaluation results show the proposed model’s effectiveness compared with existingliterature in reducing the overall evacuation time, cell selection, and obstacle removal. The study is potentially usefulfor public safety situations such as emergency evacuations during disasters and calamities.
