Due to their advantages especially the capability of operation at wide wind speed ranges, doubly-fed induction generators (DFIGs) are widely used in wind energy conversion systems (WECSs). This paper introduces a performance enhancement of WECS-DFIG by extracting the maximum power from WECS-DFIG in addition to active and reactive powers control. The maximum power point is extracted by capturing the optimal speed by an intelligent controller. While Integral Sliding Mode Controller (ISMC) and the Field Oriented Control (FOCPI) are presented for active and reactive powers control. The proposed controllers were applied to control a 1.5 grid-connected DFIG. All simulations were done using Matlab Software. © 2022 IEEE.

The widespread use of simulation in future military systems depends, among others, on the degree of reuse and availability of simulation models. Simulation support in such systems must also cope with failure in software or hardware. research in fault-tolerant distributed simulation, especially in the context of the high level architecture (HLA), has been quite sparse. Nor does the HLA standard itself cover fault-tolerance extensively. This paper describes a framework, named distributed resource management system (DRMS), for robust execution of federations. The implementation of the framework is based on Web services and semantic Web technology, and provides fundamental services and a consistent mechanism for description of resources managed by the environment. To evaluate the proposed framework, a federation has been developed that utilizes time-warp mechanism for synchronization. In this paper, we describe our approach to fault tolerance and give an example to illustrate how DRMS behaves when it faces faulty federates

This paper presents an in-depth analysis of an infinite-space single-server Markovian queueing model for a customer support center that incorporates working breakdowns, repairs, balking, and reneging, along with both single and multiple vacation policies. Additionally, we consider the scenario where the server must wait for a random period before going on vacation. By employing the matrix-geometric method, we determine the steady-state probabilities of the system and derive essential performance measures. We construct an expected cost function and formulate an optimization problem to minimize the cost, using the direct search method to find the optimal service rates during working breakdown and busy periods. To demonstrate the model’s usefulness, the results are complemented with numerical illustrations and sensitivity analysis. This work thus enables improved decision-making and resource management in customer support centers by deepening our understanding of their dynamics. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Heart failure (HF) is a complex syndrome that is affected by many factors and causes. It is crucial to early recognize the disease subtypes and the unidentified clinical pathways that give rise to it. Machine learning (ML) is the tool that assist to deal with these challenges and improve the prediction of HF. In this work, the HF risk prediction was implemented by employed ML classifiers, such as Random Forest (RF), Extreme Grading Boosting (XGBoost) and Light Gradient-Boosting Machine (LGBM). We utilized the data from the German epidemiological trial on ankle brachial index - getABI cohort, which includes 6,454 patients. The performance of classifiers was estimated by Accuracy (ACC), Sensitivity, Specificity and the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) in mean values for each ML classifier. The results were also interpreted using the Explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) approach, the Shapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) values. Our work reveals that LGBM classifier predict the HF risk within 5 years follow-up in general population with 68 % accuracy. Moreover, the N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) was identified as the most important feature for HF risk prediction. © 2024 IEEE.

This work concerns different stability approaches for Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy systems. We present some recent approaches based on the idea of multiple Lyapunov functions and slack matrices to reduce the conservatism of stability analysis conditions. Then, new stability conditions are proposed in order to more reduce the conservatism using another upper bound of time-derivative of membership functions, fuzzy Lyapunov functions and slack matrices. Consequently, a large stability domain is obtained. Finally, examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approaches in stability analysis.

It is our pleasure to provide you with the volume containing the proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Parallel Processing and Applied Mathe- tics, which was held in Cz¸ estochowa, a Polish city famous for its Jasna Gora Monastery, on September 7–10, 2003. The ?rst PPAM conference was held in 1994 and was organized by the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Cz¸ estochowa University of technology in its hometown. The main idea behind the event was to provide a forum for researchers involved in applied and computational mathematics and parallel computing to exchange ideas in a relaxed atmosphere. Conference organizers hoped that this arrangement would result in cross-pollination and lead to successful research collaborations. In - dition, they hoped that the initially mostly Polish conference would grow into an international event. The fact that these assumptions were correct was proven by the growth of the event. While the ?rst conference consisted of 41 presen- tions, the conference reached 150 participants in Na l¸ ecz´ ow in 2001. In this way the PPAM conference has become one of the premiere Polish conferences, and de?nitely the most important one in the area of parallel/distributed computing andappliedmathematics. This year’s meeting gathered almost 200 participants from 32 countries. A strict refereeing process resulted in the acceptance of approximately 150 cont- buted presentations, while the rejection rate was approximately 33%.

NAREGI is a 5-year Japanese National Grid Project during 2003--2007, whose chief aim is to develop a set of grid middleware to serve as a basis for future e-Science. NAREGI also aims to lead the way in standardization of grid middleware, based on the OGSA architecture. Its super-scheduler is based on the proposed OGSA-EMS Architecture, in that it becomes the first working implementation that implements the documented component relationships within the OGSA-EMS architecture document v.l.0. Through the efforts and experience in the design and implementation, it has been confirmed that the documented OGSA-EMS architecture is quite feasible, but will require significant amount of refinement and speed improvements to finalize its detailed specifications. The super-scheduler also supports co-allocation across multiple sites to support automated execution of grid-based MPIs that execute across machines. Such a resource allocation requires sophisticated interactions between the OGSA-EMS components not covered in the current OGSA-EMS architecture, some of which are non-trivial. Overall, job scheduling with OGSA-EMS has proven to not only work, but also that its job allocation and execution time is within reasonable bounds.

Earthquake prediction is currently the most crucial task required for the probability,hazard,risk mapping,and mitigation *** prediction attracts the researchers'attention from both academia and ***,the risk assessment approaches have used various traditional and machine learning ***,deep learning techniques have been rarely tested for earthquake probability ***,this study develops a convolutional neural network(CNN)model for earthquake probability assessment in NE *** conducts vulnerability using analytical hierarchy process(AHP),Venn's intersection theory for hazard,and integrated model for risk mapping.A prediction of classification task was performed in which the model predicts magnitudes more than 4 Mw that considers nine *** classification results and intensity variation were then used for probability and hazard mapping,***,earthquake risk map was produced by multiplying hazard,vulnerability,and coping *** vulnerability was prepared by using six vulnerable factors,and the coping capacity was estimated by using the number of hospitals and associated variables,including budget available for disaster *** CNN model for a probability distribution is a robust technique that provides good *** show that CNN is superior to the other algorithms,which completed the classification prediction task with an accuracy of 0.94,precision of 0.98,recall of 0.85,and F1 score of *** indicators were used for probability mapping,and the total area of hazard(21,412.94 km^(2)),vulnerability(480.98 km^(2)),and risk(34,586.10 km^(2))was estimated.
