To raise the resource efficiency in Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication, we realize a new random access (RA) procedure. In the improved RA scheme, we use Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) to transmit User Equipment Identity (UE ID) and Cyclic Redundancy Check(CRC) information in the first step of RA procedure, and then distinguish each UE and detect preamble collisions in the second step. We then analyse RB allocation between Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) and Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH) accordingly. Results show that the new scheme has a good performance and can save resource up to 40%.

Human conversations of recommendation naturally involve the shift of interests which can align the recommendation actions and conversation process to make accurate recommendations with rich explanations. However, existing conversational recommendation systems (CRS) ignore the advantage of user interest shift in connecting recommendation and conversation, which leads to an ineffective loose coupling structure of CRS. To address this issue, by modeling the recommendation actions as recommendation paths in a knowledge graph (KG), we propose DICR (Dual Imitation for Conversational Recommendation), which designs a dual imitation to explicitly align the recommendation paths and user interest shift paths in a recommendation module and a conversation module, respectively. By exchanging alignment signals, DICR achieves bidirectional promotion between recommendation and conversation modules and generates high-quality responses with accurate recommendations and coherent explanations. Experiments demonstrate that DICR outperforms the state-of-the-art models on recommendation and conversation performance with automatic, human, and novel explainability metrics. © 2022 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Data transmission in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is recognized as an interesting field of research due to the specificities of this type of network, where energy consumption is considered one of the major challenges of communication protocol options. Hierarchical data routing in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) represents a distinct category of routing protocols. This category includes approaches that implement a reorganization of the physical network into a logical hierarchy system, aimed at optimizing energy consumption. In this paper, we propose a new scheme named Genetic-Firefly (GF) for the Hierarchical routing based on the hybridization of the genetic algorithm to select an alternative of cluster heads (CHs) with the firefly bio-inspired technique that allows forming clusters. The simulation of GF and the Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy protocol (LEACH) has proved that our proposal has achieved good results in terms of the energy consumed, network lifetime, and received data. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

This paper presents a robust deep learning framework developed to detect respiratory diseases from recordings of respiratory sounds. The complete detection process firstly involves front end feature extraction where recordings are transformed into spectrograms that convey both spectral and temporal information. Then a back-end deep learning model classifies the features into classes of respiratory disease or anomaly. Experiments, conducted over the ICBHI benchmark dataset of respiratory sounds, evaluate the ability of the framework to classify sounds. Two main contributions are made in this paper. Firstly, we provide an extensive analysis of how factors such as respiratory cycle length, time resolution, and network architecture, affect final prediction accuracy. Secondly, a novel deep learning based framework is proposed for detection of respiratory diseases and shown to perform extremely well compared to state of the art methods. © 2020 IEEE.

Affine frequency division multiplexing (AFDM) and orthogonal AFDM access (O-AFDMA) are promising techniques based on chirp signals, which are able to suppress the performance deterioration caused by Doppler shifts in high-mobility scenarios. However, the high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) in AFDM or O-AFDMA is still a crucial problem, which severely limits their practical applications. In this paper, we propose a discrete affine Fourier transform (DAFT)-spread AFDMA scheme based on the properties of the AFDM systems, named DAFT-s-AFDMA to significantly reduce the PAPR by resorting to the DAFT. We formulate the transmitted time-domain signals of the proposed DAFT-s-AFDMA schemes with localized and interleaved chirp subcarrier allocation strategies. Accordingly, we derive the guidelines for setting the DAFT parameters, revealing the insights of PAPR reduction. Finally, simulation results of PAPR comparison in terms of the complementary cumulative distribution function (CCDF) show that the proposed DAFT-s-AFDMA schemes with localized and interleaved strategies can both attain better PAPR performances than the conventional O-AFDMA scheme. © 2024 IEEE.

Moving object segmentation in the compressed domain plays an important role in many real-time applications, e.g. video indexing, video surveillance, etc. H.264/AVC is the up-to-date video coding standard, which employs several new coding tools and provides a different video format. In this paper, a robust spatio-temporal segmentation approach to extract moving objects in the compressed domain for H.264 video stream is proposed. Coarse moving objects are firstly extracted from the motion vector field through the MRF classification process. Spatial segmentation is based on the HT coefficient, which is used to refine the object boundary of temporal segmentation results. Fusion of spatio-temporal segmentation is based on region projection based labeling technique. Further edge refinement is performed to smooth the object boundaries. The performance of the proposed approach is illustrated by simulation carried on several test sequences. Experimental results show that the proposed approach can provide the visually similar results as by using spatial domain process with much less computational complexity.

We demonstrate polarization multiplexed dissipative Kerr solitons in an on-chip silicon nitride micro-resonator. In our experiment, TE- and TM-polarized soliton can be individually generated and controlled, thanks to their weak mutual interaction as the result of sufficiently different repetition rates and orthogonal polarization states. Furthermore, we find that TE- and TM-polarized solitons usually exhibit uncorrelated time jitters, therefore the frequency and phase coherence between the polarization multiplexed soliton microcombs change dramatically as a function of pump laser parameters, by optimizing which we achieve narrow dual-microcomb beat note linewidth as small as 4.4 kHz. Potential applications of on-chip polarization multiplexed soliton microcombs include Kerr comb spectral expansion, dual-comb metrology, and measurement of quantum entanglements. Advanced wireless standards of communication like 3GPP and LTE are becoming more and more efficient and with this evolution of communication systems mobile equipment is also become smaller and smaller. Power amplifier designing has become a very crucial task in this era where efficiency and size are the main concern of any designer. In this paper we have design and analyzed X-band Class E Metal-semiconductor field effect transistor(MESFET) based Power Amplifier. This device targets the devices which use OFDM technique to improve their spectral efficiency for the next generation communication systems. Microstrip lines are used to achieve small size for our design instead of lumped components. Load Pull measurements are used to get MESFET input and output impedances optimum values. For linear and non linear operation small signal mathematical model of the design is used. To reduce thermal losses FR4 substrate is used to increase PA efficiency. Our designs shows small values of input and output return loss of about-22.3d B and-23.716 d B achieving a high gain of about25.6 d B respectively, with PAE of about 30 % having stability factor greater than 1 and 21.894 d Bm of output power.
