Smart home IoT devices have always been the target of various cyber attacks. By leveraging the smart home monitoring infrastructure, event-based anomaly detection is effective to detect anomalies that cause unfavorable working state of IoT devices. However, IoT events are proven to be vulnerable to event-targeted attacks which could be achieved by exploiting the vulnerabilities embedded in IoT devices, protocols and/or platforms. Thus, existing event-based anomaly detection is not robust in the case of unreliable input. To address this issue, our insight is that the embedded microphone components in many off-the-shelf home devices (e.g., smart doorbells, speakers, cameras, tablets, laptops, etc.) could be utilized to gather acoustic information to help increase the reliability and capability of smart home security monitoring systems. To verify this idea, we propose an audio-assisted framework IoTAudMon for detecting event-targeted attacks. Considering the heterogeneity and sparsity nature of smart homes IoT devices and events, we employ transfer learning to design a practical pipeline for extracting semantic information from audio, eliminating the requirement of human labeling and mitigating the cold start issue in existing solutions. Experiments on public datasets and real devices demonstrate the effectiveness of IoTAudMon. © 2024 IEEE.

Complex chemical reaction networks often exhibit different dynamic behaviour on different time scales. A combined approach is proposed in this work for determining physically meaningful mass action realizations of complex chemical reaction networks that describe its dynamic behaviour on different time scales. This is achieved by appropriately reducing the detailed overall mass action kinetic scheme using quasi steady state assumptions fit to the particular time scale, and then searching for an optimal realization using mixed integer linear programing. Furthermore, the relationship between the properties (reversibility, deficiency, stability) of the obtained realizations of the same system on different time scales are also investigated and related to the same properties of the detailed overall model. It is shown that the reduced models obtained by quasi steady state assumptions may show exotic nonlinear behaviour, such as oscillations, when the original detailed is globally asymptotically stable. The proposed methods are illustrated by using a simple Michaelis-Menten type reaction kinetic example. The simplified versions of the well known Brusselator model have also been investigated and presented as a case study. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The paper proposes to change the bit-depth of the original data sequence as a preprocessing of the measuring data, which is carried out before the compression procedure. In this case the digit capacity conversion is performed without accounting for the primary data sample boundaries. The simulation was carried out in the Matlab software environment. The findings of the authors' research are presented. They prove to be a promising approach for some types of the studied data at least and several digit capacity values. The analysis of autocorrelation function values showing the data correlation revealed by the conversion is used as an assessment of perspective of the active conversion. In this article the authors review the values of secondary maximums of autocorrelation function. Their occurrence shows the demonstration of the implied correlative correspondence. Such correlations can potentially allow the converted data to be compressed more effectively than the original data using the known compression methods. © 2022 IEEE.

A brand new method of automated transcribing of speech signals of the selected language is represented in the article. In this method, in contrast to the existing ones, the result of transcribing is obtained as a solution of the task of optimization of the functional of relative entropy for each of the sequences of non-intersecting frames, which generalize the samples counts of the sampled speech signal. The method provides an option to improve the quality of transcribing due to personalized pre-setting of the bank of whitening filters on estimating the power spectral density in the target frequency domains of the characteristic phonemes of the selected language. Also on the basis of the proposed method in the first approximation the task of classification of language units of higher levels, in particular, morphemes and lexemes, is set. The adequacy of the proposed mathematical apparatus is proved empirically. © 2021 IEEE.

A new concept of automated phonetic analysis of a speech with asymptotic adaptation to the specifics of phonation of language units is proposed. Unlike analogues, the concept is formalized in the paradigm of information theory with the criterion of analysis of the speech signal based on its relative entropy. The obtained mathematical apparatus allows for analysing the studied process both in statics and dynamics. The quality of the analysis is characterized by errors in the first (incorrect recognition of the language unit) and the second (variability of phonation of the language unit within the corresponding cluster) kind. The derived result is an analytically substantiated possibility of estimating the phonetic saturation of speech. The formulated concept can also be used to assess the degree of information saturation of the cluster of the language unit. Such an assessment is important for the task of creating universal background models, which are an essential element of current recognition systems for both language and speaker. © 2022 IEEE.

The main contribution of the research is the neural network concept of Ukrainian-language text embedding with a two-level architecture. Basic embedding is implemented based on main lexical structures (Noun-Verb, Noun-Adjective, Verb-Adverb). To preserve the semantic component of complex, long sentences characteristic of the Ukrainian language, the post-embedding procedure is analytically defined. Both levels of the concept are implemented as autoencoder-type neural networks with appropriate topologies. To evaluate the complexity of the proposed conglomerate training process, a generalized loss function was formalized. Testing of the proposed concept in comparison with classic (BOW, Word2Vec) and progressive (MCB BERT) analogues showed that the author's solution prevails over the former and lags behind the latter in the selected quality metric. © 2023 IEEE.

A variety of wireless interfaces are available to access Internet content in a heterogeneous network composed by technologies with limited QoS abilities. Performance increasing solutions become economic in specific parts of the network architecture, as the network sizes and the clients' numbers increase. SIP is used to locate the called party to check that the capabilities of the calling and called parties are consistent and to establish and control the connection. In this paper, we propose an addition to the SIP header/message compression methodology to improve the network QoS by implementations of SIP protocol quality options. We also deal with related SIP security issues regarding practicality and realization possibilities. This paper would like to highlight that security vulnerabilities, open problems may exist using the SIP protocol in usual cases of the practical usage.

In recent years, social network data analysis is an emerging field. Multilevel social network analysis could help researchers to figure out comprehensive influencing factors. But the raw data extracted from life is complicated and inoperable so that the entire analysis process is multi-step and changeable. The characteristics of social network datasets at different levels are diverse. There is no general data analysis algorithms for each level. The characteristics of the data and the requirements of the task are important basis for choosing suitable analysis methods. But it is hard for non-expert researchers. This paper proposes an intelligent multilevel assistant for multilevel social network analysis and implements it based on ontology technology. Algorithms at different levels process the corresponding data forms until the appropriate output model is generated. The use of ontology technology makes this framework extensible and understandable. Such a framework is significant for non-experts. © 2020 IEEE.

Implementation of active control has much potential to contribute to the creation and construction of innovative structures. This paper summarizes recent research of the authors that is the study of biomimetic control solutions regarding balance and locomotion of robotic systems. A first goal of the work consists in identifying solutions necessary to balance the individual systems. Research has been focused both on systems with a single foot, but also on biped, tripods, quadrupeds, hexapods and octopods. Static balance is achieved by a proper mechanical design (Bizdoaca and Petrisor, 2009), but also by a corresponding load / tensioning actuators systems that can compensate for inertial elements that can lead to system stability limit. Theoretical studies have been focused on developing an efficient stepping algorithm in environment with strong uncertainties, known as SSTA algorithm. The article present a series of experiments made with servo actuated and smart actuated (based on shape memory alloy, especially) walking biomimetic structures.

This paper reviews existing methods and techniques addressing the problem of maintenance support throughout the life cycle for high value manufacturing products. As part of this doctorate research the analysis of current methods of maintenance planning was conducted. In order to contribute to a more comprehensive solution, an advanced approach (algorithm) of periodic maintenance is presented. The authors believe that this approach will reduce the cost of maintenance of high value manufacturing products. The algorithm based on constraint programming methods is briefly presented and the future research directions are discussed.
