One of the most important tools for animal behavior and animal welfare scientists is video-based analysis. Despite the fact that automatic analysis system exists for many species, field of automated video-based behavior analysis doesn't have an effective tool for higher animals, as dogs and therefore scientists have to use manual analysis. This work is aimed at solving this issue by developing automated software. Sleep analysis task used as basic task for development and testing. This paper describes architecture of system for automated analysis of animal behavior. © 2019 IEEE.

There is a necessity to develop affordable, and reliable diagnostic tools, which allow containing the COVID-19 spreading. Machine Learning (ML) algorithms have been proposed to design support decision-making systems to assess chest X-ray images, which have proven to be useful to detect and evaluate disease progression. Many research articles are published around this subject, which makes it difficult to identify the best approaches for future work. This paper presents a systematic review of ML applied to COVID-19 detection using chest X-ray images, aiming to offer a baseline for researchers in terms of methods, architectures, databases, and current limitations. © 2022, CC BY.

Counterpoint is an important concept in Western music theory. In the past century, there have been significant interests in incorporating counterpoint into Chinese folk music composition. In this paper, we propose a reinforcement learning-based system, named FolkDuet, towards the online countermelody generation for Chinese folk melodies. With no existing data of Chinese folk duets, FolkDuet employs two reward models based on out-of-domain data i.e., Bach chorales, and monophonic Chinese folk melodies. An interaction reward model is trained on the duets formed from outer parts of Bach chorales to model counterpoint interaction, while a style reward model is trained on monophonic melodies of Chinese folk songs to model melodic patterns. With both rewards, the generator of FolkDuet is trained to generate countermelodies while maintaining the Chinese folk style. The entire generation process is performed in an online fashion, allowing real-time interactive human-machine duet improvisation. Experiments show that the proposed algorithm achieves better subjective and objective results than the baselines.

This paper considers the distributed online convex optimization problem with time-varying constraints over a network of agents. This is a sequential decision making problem with two sequences of arbitrarily varying convex loss and constraint functions. At each round, each agent selects a decision from the decision set, and then only a portion of the loss function and a coordinate block of the constraint function at this round are privately revealed to this agent. The goal of the network is to minimize the network-wide loss accumulated over time. Two distributed online algorithms with full-information and bandit feedback are proposed. Both dynamic and static network regret bounds are analyzed for the proposed algorithms, and network cumulative constraint violation is used to measure constraint violation, which excludes the situation that strictly feasible constraints can compensate the effects of violated constraints. In particular, we show that the proposed algorithms achieve O(T max{κ,1-κ}) static network regret and O(T 1-κ/2) network cumulative constraint violation, where T is the time horizon and κ ∈ (0, 1) is a user-defined trade-off parameter. Moreover, if the loss functions are strongly convex, then the static network regret bound can be reduced to O(T κ). Goal-conditioned hierarchical reinforcement learning (HRL) is a promising approach for scaling up reinforcement learning (RL) techniques. However, it often suffers from training inefficiency as the action space of the high-level, i.e., the goal space, is often large. Searching in a large goal space poses difficulties for both high-level subgoal generation and low-level policy learning. In this paper, we show that this problem can be effectively alleviated by restricting the high-level action space from the whole goal space to a k-step adjacent region of the current state using an adjacency constraint. We theoretically prove that the proposed adjacency constraint preserves the optimal hierarchical policy in deterministic MDPs, and show that this constraint can be practically implemented by training an adjacency network that can discriminate between adjacent and non-adjacent subgoals. Experimental results on discrete and continuous control tasks show that incorporating the adjacency constraint improves the performance of state-of-the-art HRL approaches in both deterministic and stochastic environments.

This paper presents a novel biological neural networks based on memristive Tabu learning neuron (MTLN) model influenced by electromagnetic radiation. Despite the model having an unstable equilibrium plane, numerical investigation without the influence of electromagnetic radiation reveal that when increasing the memristor strength induces complex phenomena, including the coexistence of infinite bubbles of bifurcations, offset plane coexistence of various attractors. Furthermore, electromagnetic radiation can significantly impact the system's behavior, giving rise to hyperchaotic dynamics. A decent understanding is seen between the mathematical outcomes, approved through trial execution on an Arduino microcontroller-based. The insights gained from neural dynamics could pave the way for applications in neuromorphic computing, engineering, and brain-machine interfaces. Based on the complex dynamics of the model, a data privacy of biomedical data has been build and reveals good results, and enable to resist to robust attacks. © 2024 The Author(s)

In recent years, social network data analysis is an emerging field. Multilevel social network analysis could help researchers to figure out comprehensive influencing factors. But the raw data extracted from life is complicated and inoperable so that the entire analysis process is multi-step and changeable. The characteristics of social network datasets at different levels are diverse. There is no general data analysis algorithms for each level. The characteristics of the data and the requirements of the task are important basis for choosing suitable analysis methods. But it is hard for non-expert researchers. This paper proposes an intelligent multilevel assistant for multilevel social network analysis and implements it based on ontology technology. Algorithms at different levels process the corresponding data forms until the appropriate output model is generated. The use of ontology technology makes this framework extensible and understandable. Such a framework is significant for non-experts.

Bayesian neural networks are powerful inference methods by accounting for randomness in the data and the network model. Uncertainty quantification at the output of neural networks is critical, especially for applications such as autonomous driving and hazardous weather forecasting. However, approaches for theoretical analysis of Bayesian neural networks remain limited. This paper makes a step forward towards mathematical quantification of uncertainty in neural network models and proposes a cubature-rule-based computationally-efficient uncertainty quantification approach that captures layer-wise uncertainties of Bayesian neural networks. The proposed approach approximates the first two moments of the posterior distribution of the parameters by propagating cubature points across the network nonlinearities. Simulation results show that the proposed approach can achieve more diverse layer-wise uncertainty quantification results of neural networks with a fast convergence rate.
