Employers should recognize that employees are the most vulnerable aspect of business environments since these cyber hazards are growing because of user neglect, lack of fundamental security discipline, and a fast-changing threat context. The theoretical approach proposed in the study bridges the difference by carefully following and handling the staff's internet presence. Overall, the study describes a comprehensive solution to govern the security of employees' internet presence by utilizing Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) for advanced intrusion detection, Natural Language Processing (NLP) for implementation and enforcement of browser-based security policies, visual and text data recognition to identify phishing attempts, and lastly analyzing and profiling users based on their online presence via a mathematical model. As a result, this study provides a comprehensive solution for mitigating risks related to human factors in corporate environments. © 2024 IEEE.

Boosting speech recognition performance: a robust and accurate ensemble method based on HMMs

In this paper, we propose an ensemble method based on hidden Markov models (HMMs) for speech recognition. Our objective is to reduce the impact of the initial setting of training parameters on the final model while improving accuracy and robustness, particularly in speaker independent systems. The main idea is to exploit the sensitivity of HMMs to the initial setting of training parameters, thus creating diversity among the ensemble members. Additionally, we perform an experimental study to investigate the potential relationship between initial training parameters and ten diversity measures from literature. The proposed method is assessed on a standard dataset from the UCI machine-learning repository. Results demonstrate its effectiveness in terms of accuracy and robustness to intra-class variability, surpassing basic classifiers (HMM, KNN, NN, SVM) and some previous works in the literature including those using deep learning algorithms such as convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and long short-term memory (LSTM). The Internet of Things-empowered precision irrigation management system with LoRaWAN technology is presented given the growing food requirements across the world and pressing calls for judicious use of water in agriculture. Flow Pilot, specifically designed for chili farms, optimizes water application while enhancing crop health using precise and automated irrigation. The Flow Pilot features advanced sensors such as soil moisture, temperature, humidity, and rain sensors that collect real-time environmental data transmitted over a LoRaWAN network for analysis. Flow Pilot uses the Machine learning algorithm by analyzing sensor data to make localized irrigation recommendations based on crop needs, environmental factors, and weather forecasting. LoRaWAN gateways will support this for long-ranged communications over power-consuming agricultural fields. Besides this, it can use different network architectures. There is also an automated water tank management module that regulates the supply of water and pH levels to have optimal conditions for crop growth. A visually simple dashboard interface enables farmers to inspect and operate irrigation processes remotely, hence rendering the whole process far more efficient. Finally, over the extensive period of field tests executed by the project, Flow Pilot was able to save water, improve crop yields, and help support sustainable agriculture. For example, this testing supports the potential of IoT with LoRaWAN technologies, such as the Flow Pilot implementation, for a game change in conventional irrigation practices into a modern, scalable, and reliable solution. © 2024 IEEE.

This research offers a comparative analysis of Qual-ity of Service (QoS) within Software Defined Networks (SDN) by assessing the POX and OpenDaylight controllers across various network topologies. The results show that OpenDaylight has a 32.59% higher average throughput than POX, demonstrating its superior data handling capabilities. Conversely, POX exhibits a 54.53% lower average delay and an 85.05% higher average jitter compared to OpenDaylight, highlighting its effectiveness in maintaining lower latency and variability in packet transmission times. These contrasting performances provide essential insights for network engineers in selecting the optimal SDN controller based on specific network demands, significantly influencing the overall network efficiency and stability. © 2024 IEEE.

Coastal environments are complicated due to the variable hydrodynamics and diverse biogeomorphology. Experi-mental measurements of coastal waves and velocities are essential in these areas, as they suffer directly due to the impact of human activity (urbanisation, ports, industry, tourism, etc.), as well as climate change (sea level rise, storm surges, coastal river floods). Multi-scale studies are extremely beneficial for many applications, including resource management, protection, validating numerical models and conducting studies related to coastal processes and engineering coastal infrastructure. However, there is a lack of in-situ data as the conditions are dynamic and difficult. We propose a robotic platform equipped with cost-efficient sensing devices called Hydromasts to perform the in-situ data collection in the surf zone. We use an archimedean-screw-actuated mobile robot to profile the coastline wave motion with a robotic platform that can navigate from the beach to the sea with a GPS and record wave-induced pressures and flow velocities. © 2024 IEEE.

In cloud computing environments, trust evaluation models are critical for assessing the reliability and security of cloud service providers. The accuracy of trust evaluations may be impacted by the failure of traditional trust measurements to take resilience under dynamic settings into consideration. In order to assess the flexibility and resilience of trust assessment models in cloud computing, this research presents a new metric called the Resilience-Aware Assessment. The Risk Assessment offers a thorough assessment of trust models in a variety of cloud environments by taking into account elements including system performance during high stress, reaction to malevolent activity, and recovery time following interruptions. In order to compare various trust evaluation models already in use, this study evaluates them using the RAA in addition to other traditional criteria like accuracy, scalability, and convergence time. The findings show that the RAA metric, especially in situations with uncertainty and volatility, successfully draws attention to trust model strengths and shortcomings that are missed by traditional metrics. The integration of the RAA metric into multi-criteria decision-making frameworks for cloud service selection is also covered in the article, offering a more adaptable and robust method for evaluating trust. Future research will examine how the RAA measure can be used to improve autonomous trust management systems in edge-cloud contexts as well as how it can be applied in real-time cloud orchestration. © 2024 IEEE.

Industrial alarm systems facilitate the reliable and effective management of industrial process operations. However, the manufacturer’s fear of missing a critical fault or lacking process understanding may lead to the implementation of alarm systems that overburden operators by an enormous amount of alarms. Inadequate alarm settings and maintenance, coupled with a high volume of disturbance alarms, necessitate operators making crucial decisions within a limited time. Thus, an alarm management strategy that accurately anticipates the types of incoming alarms is needed, especially in brownfield systems where it is infeasible to simplify the underlying alarming functions. This alleviates the need for human interpretation of alarms upon arrival, allowing operators to address anomalous behaviors early. This study proposes an alarm classification approach, based on active learning, latent dirichlet allocation (LDA) topic modeling and transformer-based deep learning. It focuses on addressing these challenges through a systematic natural language processing (NLP) approach to classify and map fault messages. To demonstrate the validity of this approach, real-world alarm data from an industrial hybrid non-woven manufacturing process is used. © 2024 IEEE.
