The detection of cyber threats and cybersecurity can be benefitted greatly from the advances in artificial intelligence (AI). Cyber threat detection is the main focus of cybersecurity. It has used various tools and techniques to find unauthorized access to systems, attacks, effective security incidents or applications, and networks. Owing to data flow presence over networks and extensive devices, the possibility of intrusion detection and cyberattacks has increased. Monitorization of this immense volume of data traffic is found to be tough, though machine learning (ML) techniques effectively support this task. This study develops an auction-based optimization with machine learning for cyber threat detection and classification (ABOML-CTDC) technique. The presented ABOML-CTDC technique concentrates on the identification and classification of cyber threats in accomplishing cybersecurity. The proposed ABOML-CTDC technique makes use of the ABO-based feature subset selection (ABO-FSS) technique to elect optimal features. For cyber threat detection, the ABOML-CTDC technique utilizes a variational autoencoder (VAE) model. Finally, the moth flame optimization (MFO) algorithm is exploited for the parameter selection of the VAE method del to improve the detection rate. The experimental validation of the ABOML-CTDC approach is tested on benchmark datasets and the results pointed out the promising results on detecting threats over recent state-of-the-art methods. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

In the field of autonomous vehicles (AV), it is crucial for the perceptual systems of the AVs to learn inter-domain adaptations in the absence of paired examples for detecting vehicular instances in unstructured real-world scenarios. One straightforward approach is to train the models directly on labeled synthetic datasets. However, this approach usually fails to achieve generality, owing to the domain bias between the real and fake databases of images. We therefore, propose a novel architecture that produces synthetic images based on cycle consistency, in the absence of labeled pair of images. We test the object detectors Detectron and SSD on four types of curated benchmark datasets to evaluate their robustness in detecting objects such as cars, bikes, and pedestrians on road. The four benchmark datasets contain a diversified set of image corruptions and a few variations are built using the proposed framework such as weather variations. The four datasets are PASCAL VOC and SYNTHIA dataset images, weather-translated images, variation-augmented images, and stylized renderings using Adain style transfer. After conducting extensive investigations, we observe a decreased classification loss when exposed to variable image quality. We also witness that augmenting the training datasets with variations in the wild aided in boosting the generalizing capability of the object detectors. The boost in performance is testified by the testing results showing better mAP. © 2023 IEEE.

This proposal outlines the development of a mobile application aimed at enhancing the learning capabilities of Sri Lankan kindergarteners. Through the improvement of early writing and speaking skills, emotion recognition, and personalized memory assessments, the application seeks to identify and address learning gaps in young children. The application's core focus includes four key components: refining writing skills through guided practice, empowering parents to identify and track their child's weaknesses and progress, enabling accurate pronunciation practice and tracking, and promoting emotional awareness by identifying and reflecting emotions through music. Additionally, the app offers tailored memory assessments via a mobile game, catering to individual learning needs and fostering cognitive growth. Extensive research, collaboration with educators, psychologists, and parents, as well as usability testing, contribute to the app's effectiveness and user-friendliness. By providing personalized learning experiences, the mobile application has the potential to significantly enhance educational outcomes for Sri Lankan children, equipping them with essential skills in writing, speaking, emotional intelligence, and memory retention. © 2023 IEEE.

Children with hearing impairments face serious challenges as they are unlikely to develop normal speech and language abilities. It is important to build positive relationships with the external environment to support hearing impaired children's learning;hence, IHear was introduced. 'IHear' is a mobile application meticulously developed that aims to support children with mild to moderate hearing impairments under the age group of 6-10. The IHear mobile application serves as a potent intervention designed to facilitate effective learning while mitigating potential academic setbacks. A positive relationship with the surrounding environment that incorporates learning is crucial for hearing-impaired children since the development aspects of a child are directly connected to external factors. This study investigates IHear's tailored and comprehensive approach to speech and learning development using technology and machine learning. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper proposes a novel approach to securing electronic health records(EHRs) using non-fungible tokens (NFTs). NFTs are unique digital tokens that can be used to represent ownership or proof of authenticity of digital assets. The proposed framework explores the use of NFTs for secure patient data storage, secure data transfer, data provenance, and patient ownership of data. By using NFTs to establish secure and auditable records of patient data, electronic health records management systems can better protect patient privacy and security. The paper also discusses the challenges and opportunities of using NFTs in EHRs, as well as the legal and ethical implications of giving patients ownership and control over their medical data. This paper presents a new avenue for research into securing EHRs using NFTs, which has the potential to improve patient outcomes and advance the field of health informatics. © 2023 IEEE.

Securing digital image data is a key concern in today’s information-driven *** encryption techniques are required to protect sensitive image data,with the Substitution-box(S-box)often playing a pivotal role in many symmetric encryption *** study introduces an innovative approach to creating S-boxes for encryption *** proposed S-boxes are tested for validity and non-linearity by incorporating them into an image encryption *** nonlinearity measure of the proposed S-boxes is *** qualities significantly enhance its resistance to common cryptographic attacks,ensuring high image data ***,to assess the robustness of the S-boxes,an encryption system has also been proposed and the proposed S-boxes have been integrated into the designed encryption *** validate the effectiveness of the proposed encryption system,a comprehensive security analysis including brute force attack and histogram analysis has been *** addition,to determine the level of security during the transmission and storage of digital content,the encryption system’s Number of Pixel Change Rate(NPCR),and Unified Averaged Changed Intensity(UACI)are *** results indicate a 99.71%NPCR and 33.51%*** results demonstrate that the proposed S-boxes offer a significant level of security for digital content throughout its transmission and storage.

One of the most popular sports in the world is cricket, and current research has been done to improve several aspects of the bowlers and batsmen. This research specifically focuses on right arm spin bowlers. Regarding the spin bowlers, 4 main components are focused namely, detecting the player in danger area, detecting the position of the front leg, detecting the angle of the bowling arm and detecting whether the delivery is a no ball or not. The whole system is specifically designed to be used in the training time for the amateur players. The authors have developed Deep Learning-based models to automatically detect whether the bowler is following correct rules and best practices regarding the 4 components mentioned above. Authors have used different Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) architectures to build the models and compared to choose the best architecture for each component by considering the accuracy and few other factors. The research focused to deliver an overall value of above 95% accuracy. Moreover, the authors have developed a website so that the players and the coach can obtain the results of each component by using the website. © 2023 IEEE.

Ensuring the well-being of foetuses during pregnancy is crucial for preventing child and maternal mortality, aligning with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. Utilizing a dataset of 2126 records from Cardiotocography (CTG) exams, obtained from the Kaggle repository, the study employs machine learning ensemble techniques, specifically stacking with 10x10 validations, to increase the classification of fetal health's precision and dependability. To address class imbalance, the dataset is resampled to 150%, and filter-based feature selection using the chi-squared statistical test is applied. Base models, including Decision Trees (C4.5), Random Forest (100 trees), Logistic Regression, and Sequential Minimal Optimization (SMO), are utilized. With the help of the Weka Machine Learning software tool, the ensemble model, after hyper parameter tuning and employing diverse techniques, with 98.68% accuracy, the model effectively classifies fetal health, indicating robust performance across various evaluation metrics. © 2024 IEEE.

The election of a country holds significant importance, as it plays a pivotal role in the advancement and growth of a nation. Ensuring the safety and integrity of an election is a concern closely tied to national security. Electoral mechanisms in Sri Lanka and many other regions remain conventional and vulnerable. Despite the evolution of democracy, voting processes continue to rely on manual methods using paper ballots and pens. Although e-voting machines have emerged, these systems carry a substantial risk of manipulation and are susceptible to issues such as malfunction and breakdown, as well as unauthorized breaches. Addressing these challenges can be achieved by embracing cutting-edge technology, specifically blockchain, to establish a voting procedure that is both dependable and transparent. This paper presents a voting platform built upon the principles of blockchain with the aim of digitalizing the voting process while ensuring dependability, security, and user-friendly functionality. The ballots submitted by voters are recorded on the blockchain, making them immutable and safeguarded against possible manipulation. The system's capacity can be expanded to suit the needs of any election. Participants can access the system using biometric authentication methods, which will make the voting process more secure. Therefore, this system illustrates the potential of utilizing blockchain technology, including distributed systems, Ethereum, and smart contracts, to provide a secure, trustworthy, and transparent voting system for contemporary elections. © 2023 IEEE.

Maintenix is a system that provides real time notification and tracking system for typical maintenance of potential issues in a complex building. The proposed solution covers four distinct areas including air conditioning management system, electrical leakage system, water leakage system and CCTV management system. This research paper aims to address the most critical and frequent issues that may arise in the building maintenance system. In this proposed solution, it may address the above issues with the power of IoT and integrate the 3D model to visualize the building's issues in real-time. This testing environment is created to facilitate research purposes physically and is designed to integrate with a 3D simulation mode. This paper highlights the importance of the system and enhances the performance and capabilities of the system using the testing environment. YOLOv8 which used to identify the count of the people in the building infrastructure. By considering the testing environment, we plan to test the remaining components in research. This research paper presents a valuable experience to workers engaged with maintenance in complex buildings. © 2023 IEEE.
