Coronavirus is a potentially fatal disease that normally occurs in mammals and ***,in humans,the virus spreads through aerial droplets of any type of fluid secreted from the body of an infected *** is a family of viruses that is more lethal than other unpremeditated *** December 2019,a new variant,i.e.,a novel coronavirus(COVID-19)developed in Wuhan province,*** January 23,2020,the number of infected individuals has increased rapidly,affecting the health and economies of many countries,including *** objective of this research is to provide a system to classify and categorize the COVID-19 outbreak in Pakistan based on the data collected every day from different regions of *** research also compares the performance of machine learning classifiers(i.e.,Decision Tree(DT),Naive Bayes(NB),Support Vector Machine,and Logistic Regression)on the COVID-19 dataset collected in *** to the experimental results,DT and NB classifiers outperformed the other *** addition,the classified data is categorized by implementing a Bayesian Regularization Artificial Neural Network(BRANN)*** results demonstrate that the BRANN classifier outperforms state-of-the-art classifiers.

This paper proposes a Quality-of-Task-Perception (QoTP) based performance optimization approach for bilateral haptic teleoperation. For time-delayed teleoperation, stabilizing control schemes are combined with communication and data reduction algorithms to ensure stability, transparency, and Quality of Experience (QoE). An adaptive control scheme switching strategy to improve the QoE of teleoperation considering network quality of service (QoS) and quality of control (QoC) is proposed in our previous work. In this paper, we introduce a novel concept named quality of task perception (QoTP) to optimize teleoperation from another dimension in addition to QoS and QoC. QoTP represents the pre-cognition of the task and the accuracy of the environment restoration. The proposed optimization approach is applied to a haptic teleoperation system with switchable control schemes (prediction-based or passivity-based). An environment restoration model is set on the leader side using the least squares method (LSM) to fit different environment models and provide force feedback without the influence of round-trip delay. We also evaluate the system performance with different delays, control schemes, and model complexities both objectively and subjectively. Our experiments validate the proposed approach and show that the QoE performance increases when selecting the more accurate environment restoration model in the QoTP dimension considering the system’s computing power.

Micro-grids function to connect to power system power produced by the renewable energy resources. In islanded micro-grids, grid-forming units collaborate to maintain the micro-grids voltage and frequency by utilizing droop control technique that includes primary, secondary and tertiary levels. Secondary control intervenes to improve power sharing and restore voltage and frequency to their nominal levels. However, the conventional droop control applied to a grid with mismatched line parameters experiences a trade-off between reactive power sharing and voltage regulations. This paper applies real-time trajectory tracking convex optimization to ensure by communicating power sharing between units in a consensus topology. The optimization function is designed with local frequency and voltage constraints to maintain the frequency at its nominal value and ensure the voltage remains within a 5% tolerance range.. The proposed controller maintains power sharing among all units at the global consensus average value with constraints to within the limits. When the voltage limit is reached, the reactive power automatically deviates from the agreed global average in an optimal manner. The performance of the controller is shown using MATLAB/SIMULINK for different control parameters. The performance is compared to centralized-based topology. Finally, the controller is tested for grids with different line-parameters mismatches. The results show the reactive power sharing in an optimized manner. © 2020 IEEE.

In the context of Industry 4.0, the interest in digitalizing manufacturing environments is steadily increasing. Hence, the need of a frequently updated digital twin of the facilities is also growing. In order to create a digital twin, specialized hardware is used to capture data with lidars and cameras. The data is then processed by a SLAM algorithm. However, the data acquisition process is typically done manually by multiple employees. This requires dedicated training and many working hours and hence is not feasible to do on a daily basis. In this paper, we present a solution to automate the data acquisition process, by combining an autonomous mobile robot and a scanning device. We show that the quality of the resulting point clouds matches the one of the manual scanning process and is hence ready to be deployed in real environments.

In recent years, digital game-based learning (DGBL) has received more and more attention as a form of digital learning. This study used a portable eye tracker to explore the learners’ visual attention and cognitive process during DGBL. The study recruited 38 students in the third year of study in the school of information and design at a university in southern Taiwan. According to students’ performance in the English courses at the university, participants were divided into High Competence Group (n = 5), Intermediate Competence Group (n = 8), and Low Competence Group (n = 25). By collecting the participants’ eye movement data with eye tracker, eye movement indicators were acquired to investigate the correlation between the participants’ external behavior and cognitive process among regions of interest (ROIs). The finding results of this study were as follows: (1) The fixation sequence of ROIs from participants of different groups is different;(2) During the experiment, ROI3 (English definitions of the vocabulary) was the first ROI of fixation for participants of Intermediate and Low Competence Groups, showing a difference from participants of the High Competence Group in terms of visual attention during the first fixation;(3) By examining the total fixation duration and total fixation count of the ROIs from all participants, the same pattern can be found, indicating that as participants answered the questions in this DGBL context, their visual attention was distributed more towards the English definitions of the vocabulary, in order to successfully answer the vocabulary-related questions. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Real-world scenarios are characterized by timing uncertainties, e.g., delays, and disturbances. Algorithms with temporal robustness are crucial in guaranteeing the successful execution of tasks and missions in such scenarios. We study time-robust path planning for synthesizing robots' trajectories that adhere to spatial-temporal specifications expressed in Sig-nal Temporal Logic (STL). In contrast to prior approaches that rely on discretized trajectories with fixed time-steps, we leverage Piece-Wise Linear (PWL) signals for the synthesis. PWL signals represent a trajectory through a sequence of time-stamped waypoints. This allows us to encode the STL formula into a Mixed-Integer Linear Program (MILP) with fewer variables. This reduction is more pronounced for specifications with a long planning horizon. To that end, we define time-robustness for PWL signals. Subsequently, we propose quantitative semantics for PWL signals according to the recursive syntax of STL and prove their soundness. We then propose an encoding strategy to transform our semantics into a MILP. Our simulations showcase the soundness and the performance of our algorithm.

Price prediction and forecasting have been important topics that have been long studied in the financial world. Commodity price prediction is one such highly popular application in stock markets across the world. Among all commodities such as gold, silver, platinum and others, gold has continued to be the prime and forefront commodity which decides the price movements of other commodities. Moving average approach and its variants are the important technical indicators which help financial institutions, investors and traders to understand the movement of gold prices throughout the year. Some of the popular technical indicators are simple moving averages, cumulative moving averages and exponential moving averages. This paper proposes a unique gold price prediction methodology by building popular ensemble machine learning models utilizing all three types of moving average values as feature representation and next day price as the target for prediction. The predicted values based on the three moving average features are presented to users, investors and traders, so that investors and traders will know the gold price for the next day. Extensive experiments are conducted on the Indian gold price daily data from December 2011 to March 2024 by comparing six prominent machine learning models and ARIMA model. We also present a detailed study of different feature importance. Experimental results on the gold price daily data have confirmed that polynomial regression models have given superior performance in terms of regression accuracy and error metrics namely MSE, RMSE and MAE

The research presents a comparative analysis of the selection of objects of interest in color medical cytology images. For these purposes, the individual edge detection operators studied are Canny, Roberts, and LoG. The comparison contrasts the standard method of assessing color photographs with a technique that incorporates supplementary information. Data from individual color channels, derived from the breakdown of a color image in RGB format, serve as supplementary information. The following individual cases for potential examination are emphasized: Image processing with a complete level of reuse of edge detection operators; with a partial level of reuse of edge detection operators. The results are displayed through an array of tables, graphs, and images. Metrics of visual perception of images are utilized for comparative analysis. Compared with traditional edge detection methods, the proposed approach yields better results, which can exceed the estimates of the classical approach by 20%.

Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia that causes many of the functions of the human brain to be severely weakened. To date, there has not been a cure for Alzheimer's disease. Therefore, early diagnosis is needed using MRI images with the help of a classification program. Deep learning using the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) method is receiving increasing attention because of its excellent performance. Its architecture can be modified according to user needs based on the data to be processed and the approach for classifying, detecting, and segmenting visual objects. In this paper, we offer a classification of Alzheimer's disease using one of the architectures on CNN, namely Visual Geometry Group-19 (VGG-19), with a sagittal view of MRI images with an image size of 229 x 229 pixels. The classification accuracy of the described method is 94% for the validation set. © 2023 IEEE.

We study a secure integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) model motivated by the need to simultaneously exploit the sensitive attributes of wireless devices, such as their location, and communicate securely. Specifically, we consider a state-dependent binary-input two-user additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) broadcast channel, in which the channel state se-quence consists of two components, each affecting a receiver, mod-eled as independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) correlated phase shifts to approximate the location-dependent signatures of the receivers. The objective of the transmitter is to simultaneously estimate the channel states while reliably transmitting a secret message to one of the receivers, treating the other as a passive attacker. We characterize the exact secrecy-distortion region when 1) the channel output feedback is perfect, i.e., noiseless with a unit time delay; and 2) the channel is degraded. The characterized rate region offers an outer bound for more complex secure ISAC settings with noisy generalized output feedback and non-degraded channels. We also characterize the secrecy-distortion region for reversely-degraded channels. The results illustrate the benefits of jointly sensing the channel state and securely communicating messages as compared to separation-based methods.
