Tag-based physical-layer authentication (PLA) has gained significant research interest due to its high security and low complexity compared to traditional upper-layer authentication mechanisms. However, conventional tag-based PLA schemes often require strict synchronization between the tag and the source message before transmission, which may limit their practicality and effectiveness. To address this limitation, we propose an asynchronous tag-based PLA scheme, where the tag and the source message are transmitted asynchronously with an intentional time delay introduced at the transmitter. The proposed scheme enhances both compatibility and security without compromising robustness. We provide a theoretical analysis of the proposed scheme, and derive closed-form expressions to characterize its performance. Furthermore, theoretical comparisons with existing methods yield insightful conclusions regarding the advantages of the proposed approach. The scheme is implemented and extensively evaluated through simulations, where the theoretical results exhibit strong agreement with the simulation outcomes, thereby validating its effectiveness. © 2025 IEEE.

Computationally Expensive High-Dimensional Multiobjective Optimization via Surrogate-Assisted Reformulation and Decomposition

In recent decades, various surrogate-assisted evolutionary algorithms (SAEAs) have been proposed to solve computationally expensive multiobjective optimization problems (EMOPs). Nevertheless, designing an SAEA to handle high-dimensional EMOPs and balance convergence, diversity, and computational complexity remains challenging. Here, we propose a two-phase SAEA (TP-SAEA), which follows the idea of convergence first and diversity second, for solving high-dimensional EMOPs. In Phase I, a surrogate-assisted problem reformulation method is proposed to fast-track the Pareto optimal set in association with some reference solutions. Specifically, the high-dimensional EMOP is reformulated into an expensive single-objective one with low-dimensional decision space. Then, the surrogate-assisted optimization is utilized to obtain well-converged solutions. In Phase II, the high-dimensional EMOP is decomposed into two subproblems to explore subregions of the decision space that can effectively promote the diversity of the solutions. The two subproblems are optimized independently via surrogate-assisted optimization, aiming to push the population towards different regions of the Pareto optimal front. Experiments are conducted on EMOPs with 100 to 500 decision variables compared with four state-of-the-art SAEAs. The proposed TP-SAEA obtains well-converged and diverse solutions with only 509 real function evaluations. Miniaturized autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are an emerging and trending topic. With their form factor as big as the palm of one hand, they can reach spots otherwise inaccessible to bigger robots and safely operate in human surroundings. The simple electronics aboard such robots (sub-100 mW) make them particularly cheap and attractive but pose significant challenges in enabling onboard sophisticated intelligence. In this work, we leverage a novel neural architecture search (NAS) technique to automatically identify several Pareto-optimal convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for a visual pose estimation task. Our work demonstrates how reallife and field-tested robotics applications can concretely leverage NAS technologies to automatically and efficiently optimize CNNs for the specific hardware constraints of small UAVs. We deploy several NAS-optimized CNNs and run them in closed-loop aboard a 27-g Crazyflie nano-UAV equipped with a parallel ultra-low power System-on-Chip. Our results improve the State-of-the-Art by reducing the in-field control error of 32% while achieving a real-time onboard inference-rate of ~10Hz@10mW and ~50Hz@90mW.

Steel plate is a highly customized product, and steel plates from the same order may be stored in different stacks. However, during the outbound process, the steel plates of the next order can only be dispatched from the warehouse once all plates from the preceding order have been fully completed. In this case, the outbound scheduling of steel plates is a challenging problem since its efficiency and complexity are affected by the shuffling of steel plates. In order to address the challenge, this paper formulates the steel plate outbound scheduling as a dynamic programming model with the aim of minimizing the crane operation time. To solve the problem, an decision tree-based backtracking search algorithm (DTBSA) is developed, in which the search tree is pruned through lower bound functions and dominance rules, so as to reduce the search range of the solution space. Experimental results prove that the proposed method can obtain optimal scheduling results within a reasonable time range.

A dual-band polarization-diversity omnidirectional glass antenna is presented in this paper. A stepped glass dielectric resonator (DR) is fed by a probe and dual loops for vertical and horizontal polarizations, respectively. This antenna is designed in the 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz WiFi bands, with available bandwidths of 7.5% (2.31-2.49 GHz) and 6.5% (5.04-5.38 GHz). Two DR TM modes and two DR TE modes are used to obtain omnidirectional radiation patterns.

This paper considers the global finite time stabilization of linear systems subject to actuator saturation. We show that a controllable SISO system whose eigenvalues are real and negative can be globally stabilized in finite time by a homogeneous feedback law. To obviate numerical issues, this homogeneous feedback law is implemented by discretizing a compact set. Numerical simulation validates the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

As a revolutionary technology, reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) has been deemed as an indispensable part of the 6th generation communications due to its inherent ability to regulate the wireless channels. However, passive RIS (PRIS) still suffers from some pressing issues, one of which is that the fading of the entire reflection link is proportional to the product of the distances from the base station to the PRIS and from the PRIS to the users, i.e., the productive attenuation. To tackle this problem, active RIS (ARIS) has been proposed to reconfigure the wireless propagation condition and alleviate the productive attenuation. In this paper, we investigate the physical layer security of the ARIS assisted non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) networks with the attendance of external and internal eavesdroppers. To be specific, the closed-form expressions of secrecy outage probability (SOP) and secrecy system throughput are derived by invoking both imperfect successive interference cancellation (ipSIC) and perfect SIC. The secrecy diversity orders of legitimate users are obtained at high signal-to-noise ratios. Numerical results are presented to verify the accuracy of the theoretical expressions and indicate that: i) The SOP of ARIS assisted NOMA networks exceeds that of PRIS-NOMA, ARIS/PRIS-assisted orthogonal multiple access (OMA);ii) Due to the balance between the thermal noise and residual interference, introducing excess reconfigurable elements at ARIS is not helpful to reduce the SOP;and iii) The secrecy throughput performance of ARIS-NOMA networks outperforms that of PRIS-NOMA and ARIS/PRIS-OMA networks. To address the problem of unpredictable trajectory caused by sensing limitation of UGV, in this paper, a heterogeneous multi-agent behavioral control architecture with predictive function is proposed, in which UAV intervenes in the decision-making of UGV. The basic task functions of UGV and UAV are defined respectively and the intervention signal of UAV is connected to the task function of UGV in null-space-based control framework to solve the problem of multi-task conflict. The UAV platform adopts the nonlinear model predictive control to predict the trajectory according to the environment data collected in advance and the current state of the UGV. The prediction results are input into the decision model to produce the final intervention signal and sent to the UGV platform. The UGV adjusts the task strategy in time to ensure the selection of the optimal trajectory for the UGV. Finally, the simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed cooperative control method. © 2021 IEEE

The novel active simultaneously transmitting and reflecting surface (ASTARS) has recently received a lot of attention due to its capability to conquer the multiplicative fading loss and achieve full-space smart radio environments. This paper introduces the ASTARS to assist non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) communications, where the stochastic geometry theory is used to model the spatial positions of pairing users. We design the independent reflection/transmission phase-shift controllers of ASTARS to align the phases of cascaded channels at pairing users. We derive new closed-form and asymptotic expressions of the outage probability and ergodic data rate for ASTARS-NOMA networks in the presence of perfect/imperfect successive interference cancellation (pSIC). The diversity orders and multiplexing gains for ASTARS-NOMA are derived to provide more insights. Furthermore, the system throughputs of ASTARS-NOMA are investigated in both delay-tolerant and delay-limited transmission modes. The numerical results are presented and show that: 1) ASTARS-NOMA with pSIC outperforms ASTARS assisted-orthogonal multiple access (ASTARS-OMA) in terms of outage probability and ergodic data rate;2) The outage probability of ASTARS-NOMA can be further reduced within a certain range by increasing the power amplification factors;3) The system throughputs of ASTARS-NOMA are superior to that of ASTARS-OMA in both delay-limited and delay-tolerant transmission modes. Although quantum approximate optimization algorithm (QAOA) has demonstrated its quantum supremacy, its performance on Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) devices would be influenced by complicated noises, e.g., quantum colored noises. To evaluate the performance of QAOA under these noises, this paper presents a framework for running QAOA on non-Markovian quantum systems which are represented by an augmented system model. In this model, a non-Markovian environment carrying quantum colored noises is modelled as an ancillary system driven by quantum white noises which is directly coupled to the corresponding principal system;i.e., the computational unit for the algorithm. With this model, we mathematically formulate QAOA as piecewise Hamiltonian control of the augmented system, where we also optimize the control depth to fit into the circuit depth of current quantum devices. For efficient simulation of QAOA in non-Markovian quantum systems, a boosted algorithm using quantum trajectory is further presented. Finally, we show that non-Markovianity can be utilized as a quantum resource to achieve a relatively good performance of QAOA, which is characterized by our proposed exploration rate.
