In our study, we aimed to explore the psychiatric disorders, risk factors, and predictors of self-immolation among individuals admitted to Shahid Motahari Hospital in Tehran from 2019 to 2020. This cross-sectional study examines 64 hospitalized patients who received psychiatric counseling following self-immolation incidents. The rate of self-immolation varies significantly based on specific demographics. It is observed that in our population men had a higher rate of being unmarried (70.96 % vs 15.15 %), lower levels of education (70.96 % vs 63.63 % did not have a university degree), higher level of unemployment (54.83 % vs 30.30 %), younger age average with most men aging 15–24 (29.06 (SD = 9.33)) vs women 35–44 (35.27(SD = 10.27)) and higher prevalence of addiction (67.74 % vs 36.36 %) compared to women. On the other hand, women who attempted self-immolation mainly were married, involved in housekeeping, and tended to exhibit higher rates of depression (63.63 % vs 32.25 %) than men. Furthermore, these self-immolation incidents are often impulsive (64.1 %) and occur shortly (under an hour) after experiencing a stressor (39.1 %). Self-immolation accidents are frequently carried out using gasoline (50 %). Geographically, the majority of self-immolation cases of our study are concentrated in the central region of Iran (76.6 %), followed by the western region (15.6 %) this may be due to the proximity of these regions to our center while patients of other regions were hospitalized in their referral hospitals and were rarely transferred to the capital. To effectively address the issue of self-immolation and reduce its prevalence, it is essential to identify vulnerable populations and explore targeted preventive measures. Based on our findings, future pilot studies could investigate the feasibility of specific interventions, such as crisis hotlines to reduce impulsivity-related acts of self-immolation. Robustness of the network controllability reflects how well a networked system can maintain its controllability against destructive attacks. The measure of the network controllability robustness is quantified by a sequence of values that record the remaining controllability of the network after a sequence of node-removal or edge-removal attacks. Traditionally, the controllability robustness is determined by attack simulations, which is computationally time consuming. In this paper, an improved method for predicting the controllability robustness of undirected networks is developed based on machine learning using a convolutional neural network. This approach is motivated by the following observations: 1) there is no clear correlation between the topological features and the controllability robustness of a general undirected network, 2) the adjacency matrix of a network can be represented as a gray-scale image, 3) the convolutional neural network technique has proved successful in image processing without human intervention. In the new framework, preprocessing and filtering are embedded, and a sufficiently large number of training datasets generated by simulations are used to train several convolutional neural networks for classification and prediction,respectively. Extensive experimental studies were carried out, which demonstrate that the proposed framework for predicting the controllability robustness of undirected networks is more accurate and reliable than the conventional single convolutional neural network predictor.

Chromatographic separation is an indispensable and important technology in the manufacturing process of chemical products and biomedicine. It uses the distribution differences of a compound in the stationary phase and mobile phase to achieve the separation of the mixture. It is of great value to study the separation process of substances by simulated moving bed chromatography. By digitally simulating the process of moving bed, we can observe the influence of parameter changes on substance analysis by chromatography, and then find out the law of substance separation, which can provide theoretical basis for scientific research of biopharmaceuticals. © 2020 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland.

A methodology is proposed for the control design of hierarchical systems. The high layer makes a decision without knowing the overall systems dynamics precisely. This procedure is implemented by a deep neural network constructed ***, to handle the safe learning issue, an additional technique is developed to guarantee constraints satisfaction of the trained neural network. At the underlying layer, local model predictive control（MPC） controllers are designed to regulate the subsystems to follow the optimal trajectories derived from high layer. The sample data from lower layer is utilized as the training set of neural network in high layer. The efficacy of the presented algorithm is illustrated in a simulation example.

Frequency regulation with heat pumps using robust MPC with affine policies

The increase in the renewable energy sources connected to the electricity grid has resulted in an increased need for frequency regulation. On the demand side, frequency regulation services can be provided by electrified heating/cooling systems exploiting the energy stored in thermal mass of buildings. To provide such services a first principles model of the building is needed, which is often difficult to obtain in practice. This issue can be overcome by using a buffer storage between the heating/cooling source and the building. Here, we present a solution based on robust optimization to offer frequency regulation reserves with such a system comprising a heat pump, a thermal storage in the form of a warm water buffer tank, and heating demand from a building that needs to be served. We mitigate the problem of limited thermal storage by introducing affine policies on uncertain variables. In three experiments with a real heat pump and warm water buffer storage and an emulated heating demand, we demonstrate that the system can indeed offer reserves and can successfully track a regulation signal while meeting the heating demand at all times.

Considering that energy trading might not completely absorb excess renewable energy, we propose a multi-energy management framework including fuel cell vehicles, energy storage, combined heat and power system, and renewable energy to further realize the local absorption of renewable energy and enhance the economic benefits of microgrids. In order to reduce the influence of multi-energy coupling, stochastic renewable energy generation and energy demand, this paper designs a joint energy scheduling and trading algorithm based on Lyapunov optimization and a double-auction mechanism to optimize the long-term energy cost of each microgrid. Coupling with the auction mechanism is a dynamic, efficient energy trading and scheduling algorithm, which carefully decides the valuations of energy in the auction, optimally schedules energy, and judiciously purchases and sells energy on the current electricity prices. Simulations based on real data show that each individual microgrid, by carrying out the proposed algorithm, can achieve a time-averaged profit arbitrarily close to an optimum value while not compromising its own comfort.

Network controllability robustness reflects how well a networked system can maintain its controllability against destructive attacks. Traditionally, the controllability robustness is determined by attack simulations, which is computationally time consuming or even infeasible. In the present paper, an improved method for predicting the network controllability robustness is developed based on machine learning using a group of convolutional neural networks (CNNs). In this scheme, a number of training data generated by simulations are used to train the group of CNNs for classification and prediction, respectively. Extensive experimental studies are carried out, which demonstrate that 1) the proposed method predicts more precisely than the classical single-CNN predictor;2) the proposed CNN-based predictor provides a better predictive measure than the traditional spectral measures and network heterogeneity. © 2020, CC BY.

The components usually are redundant and they are often connected to larger systems in series or in parallel. For large systems, the order estimation formulas of different types of components are very important which are deduced by collecting the data of overall faults. The estimation properties in the sense of probability are given. It is the asymptotic convergence of probability. Continue to improve variance estimator to achieve asymptotically minimum uniform variance estimator. This ensures the practicability of the theoretical formula. Further study uses computer simulation to estimate series and parallel systems in which the components are redundant, and it gives the specific handing framework. © 2020, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Simultaneously transmitting/refracting and reflecting reconfigurable intelligent surface (STAR-RIS) has been introduced to achieve full coverage area. This paper investigate the performance of STAR-RIS assisted non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) networks over Rician fading channels, where the incidence signals sent by base station are reflected and transmitted to the nearby user and distant user, respectively. To evaluate the performance of STAR-RIS-NOMA networks, we derive new approximate expressions of outage probability and ergodic rate for a pair of users, in which the imperfect successive interference cancellation (ipSIC) and perfect SIC (pSIC) schemes are taken into consideration. Based on the asymptotic expressions, the diversity orders of the nearby user with ipSIC/pSIC and distant user are achieved carefully. The high signal-to-noise ratio slopes of ergodic rates for nearby user with pSIC and distant user are equal to one and zero, respectively. In addition, the system throughput of STAR-RIS-NOMA is discussed in delay-limited and delay-tolerant modes. Simulation results are provided to verify the accuracy of the theoretical analyses and demonstrate that: 1) The outage probability of STAR-RIS-NOMA outperforms that of STAR-RIS assisted orthogonal multiple access (OMA) and conventional cooperative communication systems;2) With the increasing of reflecting elements K and Rician factor κ, the STAR-RIS-NOMA networks are capable of attaining the enhanced performance;and 3) The ergodic rates of STAR-RIS-NOMA are superior to that of STAR-RIS-OMA. With the development of Industry 4.0, mobile agents are deployed to coordinate with multi-loop control systems to perform manufacturing tasks, leading to heterogeneous Internet of Things (IoT). Due to shadow fading induced by the movement of mobile agents, the wireless channel closing the control loops is inherently unreliable, which can compromise the control system performance. This paper addresses the co-design problem of transmission scheduling and agents' movement to ensure both control performance and energy efficiency. A generalized cyber-physical-agent framework is proposed to capture the coupling between IoT systems and a mobile agent through a state-dependent fading channel. Moreover, the movement of the mobile agent among areas exhibiting different levels of shadow effects is modeled by Markov decision process. To address such heterogeneous dynamics, the co-design problem is formulated into the optimization of a logic-based stochastic switched system by utilizing the semi-tensor product technique. Based on state mergence and H-representation methods, a tractable and effective algorithm is then proposed to design co-design policies, minimizing the average joint cost of communication and control. A parallel scheme is further developed to alleviate the computation burden of the algorithm. Theoretical guarantees are provided to ensure control system performance. Finally, simulation results are given to demonstrate effectiveness of the proposed method. © 1983-2012 IEEE.
