Performance of sea sponges micro symbionts as a biomaterial in biodegradation naphthalene waste of modified

The purpose of this research is to understand sponge species, micro symbiont, performance, mechanisms, and types of compounds resulting from biodegradation. The analytical method is applied by selecting the model, results from characterization and morphological identification, phenotype, genotype. Selected of micro symbiont are made as suspensions, interacted with modified naphthalene contaminated waste. The biodegradation process using the Bacillus Sp (BS) isolates sponge Neopetrosia Sp and Acinetobacter Calcoaceticus (AC) isolated from sponge Callyspongia Aerizusa, was carried out by interacting a microscopic suspension of 5,000 mg/L naphthalene waste for 25 days. Micro symbiont biodegradation results by determining the concentration of contaminants and biodegradation products, in the form of pure organic compounds using GC-MS, and the analysis of functional groups of natural components using IR. Destruction of the naphthalene molecule occurs through an enzymatic reaction mechanism, observed based on visible parameters. The performance of BS symbiont biodegradation on naphthalene is in the range of 7.34% - 51.37%, while the AC range is 5.84% -37.26% in w/v, achieved within 5-25 days interaction. Biodegradation products based on functional groups were identified as compounds of aldehyde, ketone, carboxylic acids, esters, alkanes. Observation of biodegradation parameters confirmed pH changes, increased optical density values, gas bubbles formed and the smell of fermentation.

This paper analysed automobile commuters’ mode choice behaviour under the influence of simulated multimodal traveller information by developing two logit models. A combined revealed preference (RP)/stated preference (SP) travel behaviour survey was administered to drivers to gather individual commuters’ travel decisions under integrated multimodal traveller information. Two SP scenarios were designed where the first scenario is to test the mode choice preference in a basic situation involving a congested work/school trip with information on several travel options, and the second scenario is to investigate the mode choice decision when certain incentives are given for public transport. Results showed that integrated multimodal traveller information can influence a traveller’s mode choice decision. The influencing factors that significantly affect the mode choice decision include socio-economic characteristics – for example, gender, age, level of education and level of income – and multimodal traveller information attributes – for example, access mode to mass rapid transit (MRT) station, access time to MRT station and transit seat availability. The findings are useful to traffic management agencies for designing better operational policy and information publication strategies.

As the intensity of global environmental challenges increases, so does the need to understand and strengthen the resilience of interconnected systems. This research underscores the crucial role of adaptive governance in navigating the complexities of the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystem nexus, particularly under the pressures of changing climatic conditions. The study conducts an in-depth analysis of adaptive capacities by identifying critical components such as assets, flexibility, organization, learning, and agency as fundamental elements of adaptive governance in sanitation practices. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using binary probit and logit models to examine how these attributes influence community engagement in sanitation. Descriptive analysis was also used to summarize respondent characteristics and attribute distributions. © 2025 The Author(s)

In general, the process of building construction makes the inevitable wastes such as nails, formwork, steel and concrete. In order to reduce these wastes, parts of building have therefore been produced by using the manufacturing process. This process can improve construction process with minimum wastes and time of construction. However, the manufacturing process is not completely effective for building construction. There is also an additional cost for the transportation from manufactory to the construction site. For this reason, to set the exact time of the construction process, to avoid material waste and to effectively reduce the construction cost, all the production processes of manufacturing building should be started and ended at construction sites. This research has studied the Lean Manufacturing Process (LMP) and applied to the process of the construction which is called "the building with the on-site manufacturing process, BMP" to reduce instable human resource by machines which provides three advantages as follows: 1) the better quality, 2) minimum constructing cost and 3) minimum constructing period. © 2018 International Association of Lowland Technology. The growth of infrastructure development is currently increasing rapidly in Indonesia. Beside government policy trough their procurement in national, provincial and local level, it is also driven by private sector and per capita as of economic growing and increasing population. In the process physical development, several mixture of material such as stone, cement, sand, demolition material are often left over and discharge. Today Indonesia government will issued construction and demolition waste guideline to make more green and environmental sound. One of the basic problem founded was concerning to the development of model to estimated then monitored construction generation in rural, urban or in a strategic region. Moreover, in the era of digital as known as revolution industry 4.0, an automatic system of monitoring, known as smart monitoring of the construction waste generation is very importance to build. The purpose of this study was to build regional model of smart construction monitoring in Indonesia. The basic method to build the regional model is by utilized an index approach, and combined by using GIS to build automatic information delivery system from rural, urban or region to the central system. This study is then choosed Central Java Province for more detail model development. The study founded 7 (seven) pattern of construction waste generation. The extreme condition founded in Grobogan, Purworejo and Kebumen at which for decade 2000-2014 the degree is waste generation always decrease. In Addition, In central Java Province, this study founded three characteristic of regional model of construction waste as follow: (1) Region with high level of construction waste degree; (2) region with moderate level of construction waste degree; and (3) region with low level of construction waste degree.

Recently, Intention to accelerate SGDs achievement and also mitigate climate change impact concerning to regional health, increasing significantly. One of the regional health issues for those is concerning to impcat of plastic waste. Event though plastic is one of the principal materials in the regional market and industry, but then plastic waste arise to be principal problem for regional environmental health indicators since they linked living from land to coastal and to oceans. Many tons of plastic from land accounted enter to costal and or ocean then attack to all living thinks. Moreover they may be able to return to the land as microplastic consumed by fish. Today, quick respond to manage plastic waste have a high assosiation with effort to manage green food cycle as of covering basic regional food and cereal cycle. This study goal is to provide basic model for regional plastic waste degree monitoring. The model is developed by using 'online' population data from regional statistical data and number of public market. GIS tools is used to degree of plastic waste in spatial map. For detail, Central Java Provice was then selected for model assessment. To monitor the plastic waste generation in spatial pattern, online data population for year 1990, 2000, 2010, 2018 and number of traditional market was utilized. The study calculated that the highest degree of plastic waste generation with population-base approach for year 2018 is located in Brebes Regency with estimated 161.53 Ton per day. Semarang city contributed 160.04 Ton per day and total plastic waste generation in Central Java is estimated 3, 090.38. According to the public market location, this study founded that Surakarta, Semarang, Pekalongan and Tegal clasify as high degree of plastic waste ggeneration.

The ASTM standard recommends that the 16 most common types of PAHs are found in petroleum processing activities, the chemical industry and marine loading ports. This research aims to identify and determine the distribution of PAHs contaminants at three sampling points of seawater around Paotere Port, Makassar, South Sulawesi, using the GC-MS instrument. Sampling point A is the center of Paotere Port activity, Point B with a radius of 3 km and point C with a radius of 6 km from the center of port activity. Sampling at each point was carry out at a depth of 100 cm above sea level. There are 10 PAHs identified at sampling point A and B, while at point C there are 8 components with relatively the same type of PAHs. The dominant PAHs components at each sampling point are relatively the same, namely at point A: Pyrene, Chrysene, Benz[a]pyrene and Dibenz(a,h)anthracene, point B: Pyrene, Chrysene and Benz(a)anthtracene, while at point C only Pyrene. The total concentration of PAHs at point A: 4,217±.106 ppm, medium polluted category, at point B: 2,124±.087 ppm, medium polluted category and at point C: 1,264±. 112 ppm, light polluted category.

Indonesia is earthquake and tsunami prone areas, included Sumatera Island. Bandar Lampung is also vulnerable to earthquake and tsunami, especially Kangkung fishing village in Lampung Bay. Disaster risk reduction is very important to be implemented in the cases of earthquake and tsunami, which can save more life and build resilience in facing the hazard. This research aimed to study how the knowledge, awareness, and resilience of people in Kangkung fishing village can strengthen the earthquake and tsunami disaster risk reduction. This research conducted by quantitative methods. Survey and interview of 53 respondents were conducted as well as data collecting approached by purposive sampling. The results found that there is little knowledge and awareness of people in Kangkung fishing village of the hazard of earthquake and tsunami. Therefore, this research proposed a model of 'Community-Based Resilience Strategy' Model of earthquake and tsunami disaster risk reduction. It is a comprehensive and sustainable model of how people take a part in disaster risk reduction by intensive participatory. Conclusion of this research emphasized that disaster risk reduction is a big matter in marginalized society such as people in Kangkung fishing village. The 'Community-Based Resilience Strategy' Model of earthquake and tsunami disaster risk reduction that may increase the knowledge and awareness to become more resilience.

Estimation of biodiesel production from used cooking oil of university cafetaria to support sustainable electricity in Universitas Pertamina

The objective of this study was to estimate the amount of biodiesel production obtained from the used cooking oil from the university canteen. This research is a literature review supported by the existing condition data of canteen activity at Universitas Pertamina, especially from the amount of used cooking oil produced. Based on the survey questionnaire, the university canteen produced, on average, 36 L/day of used cooking oil. The amount of biodiesel produced was 30.2 L/days, with 83.9% of yield. Using a diesel testing machine, biodiesel with B30 type (30% biodiesel and 70% diesel in volume) held the potential to generate electricity of 3,014 kWh/month. This value is expected to contribute to 12% of lighting in the Rectorate Building used for administration and official activities. Savings of IDR 3,348,857 can be achieved every month by substituting electricity sources into biodiesel. Furthermore, by considering biomass as sustainable renewable energy resources, a reduction in carbon emissions can be valued by 2.2 MTCO2/month.

Comparative study of asphalt concrete characteristic between ideal gradation and laboratory tested gradation with crumb rubber

Modifying asphalt concrete with using Crumb Rubber (CR) can provide environmental benefits. The method used in this study is an experimental laboratory with Mashall machine. The tests used two types of gradation, namely the gradations of Ideal and Laboratory Test. CR used in a mixture with a dry process method to replacement 0%, 5%, 15% and 20% of the weight aggregate at fraction No. 30 (0.6 mm). The results showed that the Ideal gradation mixture has a better characteristic than the mixture of laboratory tested gradations. Ideal gradations can increased stability into 10% from Laboratory Test gradations for mixture without CR. Addition of CR contect in AC mixture did not significantly effect for the characteristics. To ensure the effect of CR in mixture, further test must be taken.
