Cities are developing due to population growth, socio-economic structure changes, technology and spatial interaction with its surroundings. "Bagian Wilayah Kota (BWK) C"or so-called "urban zone C"of Bandar Lampung municipality comprising districts of Sukarame, Tanjung Senang, and Way Halim is currently growing both internally and externally due to the development of Trans-Sumatera highway and Institute Teknologi Sumatera (ITERA). The dynamics of development and activities have caused a growing physical urban space, affecting the changes of urban structure directly. The current development in BWK C has been considered as unmanageable and potentially caused some problems in spatial plan in the future. To prevent the chaotic of spatial plan in the future, this study aims to identify the changes of urban structure in BWK C of Bandar Lampung municipality due to the internal and external development of its area. This study benefits in providing comprehensive standpoints about the process of urban structure changes based on urban activities so that city government could gain a systematic discourse of urban development which advantages in policymaking for spatial development in Bandar Lampung municipality in the future. This study conducted several analytical methods ranging from comparative analysis, spatial analysis, and hierarchical centrality index analysis. For data collection, this study applied secondary data survey and field work observation, using data from 2010 to 2016. The findings of this study reveal that the physical development in BWK C is getting compacted as its morphology changed from ribbon shaped city to octopus shaped city. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This study compares the disaster management laws of Thailand and Japan. Japan's law demonstrates a more comprehensive approach to the disaster management cycle and stakeholder involvement, with integrated financial provisions. Thailand's law emphasizes organizational aspects. Both prioritize response measures but show potential gaps in addressing preparedness and mitigation phases. The study identifies areas for further investigation, including financial measures, and international cooperation approaches. This comparative analysis offers valuable insights into both countries' ongoing development of disaster management systems and highlights potential areas for mutual learning and improvement in disaster risk reduction strategies. Creating resilience in the society through the core of the government working and stakeholders' given authorities.

Bearing Capacity Factor Characteristics of Footings on Double-layered Cohesive Soils

In this study, the bearing capacity of a surface foundation resting on a double-layered cohesive soil profile was investigated by applying a rotational mechanism and finite-difference numerical simulations. The bearing capacity factor behaviors of a surface footing on double-layered cohesive soils can be classified and illustrated using a characteristic chart. Depending on the soil strata strength ratio and normalized layer thickness, the soil-foundation system can be in the squeezing, factor-increasing, factor-decreasing, or constant factor zones. The results indicated that the trend of the curves in the characteristic chart computed from the asymmetric failure mechanism was in accordance with that of the symmetric failure mechanism of the numerical simulation. Based on the strength conditions of the upper and lower soil layers, the soil plastic flow zone may enlarge, shrink, or even become constrained. For the analysis of the critical soil strength ratio that causes punching shear failure, the results from the SNAME method were less conservative. Moreover, the footing roughness effect was significant in the weaker upper soil case and may have contributed to a 25 % higher bearing capacity. © 2023 National Taiwan Ocean University.

Flood is one of the natural disasters which has a high intensity in terms of occurrence. Despite the loss value in each event which is not as high as some natural disasters, such as earthquakes or tsunamis, the high occurrence of floods may cause high loss in total. Floods damage property and infrastructure, disrupt economic activity, displace people, harm communities, and degrade ecosystems. This study aims to compare the flood hazard model using Geomorphic Flood Index (GFI) and Multi-criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA). GFI is an established method which already used globally to identify the flood-prone area and the depth of the flood. The parameter needed to calculate GFI are the elevation, river network, and historical flood event. Meanwhile, the MCDA method tries to combine environmental, physical, and hydrographic factors, such as land use/land cover, precipitation, and runoff. The study area is Jatinangor District in Sumedang Regency which part of West Java Province, Indonesia. This location is chosen based on historical and potential flood events. Besides, Jatinangor District is the center of industry and commerce which Sumedang Regency is very dependent on. The finding of this study is expected to identify suitable methods for assessing flood hazards in Jatinangor or other areas with similar characteristics, between GFI and MCDA. © 2023 International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing. Systemic evaluation of spatio-temporal variations in travel time reliability due to a toll road over time

This paper evaluates the effectiveness of toll roads in reducing congestion and improving travel time reliability on streets within its vicinity, over time. The data, from the year 2013 to 2017, for the Triangle Expressway in the city of Raleigh, North Carolina was used in the systemic evaluation process. The spatial and temporal variations in the travel time distributions on the toll road, parallel route, and near-vicinity cross-streets (in a 2-mile buffer) were evaluated. The average travel time (ATT), the 95th percentile travel time (or planning time, PT), the buffer time (BT), and the buffer time index (BTI) were computed for each link by the day-of-the-week and the time-of-the-day. Though there was an improvement in travel time after the speed limit change in the year 2014, the travel time reliability got reduced on the Triangle Expressway. Over time, there was a gradual improvement in BT and BTI. The parallel route reliability decreased significantly over time, whereas the travel time reliability of cross-streets showed a consistent trend. The stabilization of travel time distributions and the reliability measures in the year 2017 indicate that further reduction in performance measures may not be expected in the next few years on the near-vicinity links. © 2020 The Author(s). Jongkong reservoir creates a reservoir of water that is used for the purposes of raw water as fundamental media for improvement of drinking water production especially at dry season for the District of Koba. The advantage of being able to hold water in wet season and releasing it in dry season will be detained if the life storage of the reservoir can be utilized effectively, but sedimentation problem will decrease its volume which can influence the life time of reservoir. Finally the reservoir becomes less effective, so it is very important to study. The method which is used to predict an average erosion rate in the catchment area considers factors of rain erosivity, soil erodibility, ground inclination of slope or slope length, management of crop and land, soil conservation. Calculation was done by using the USLE equation (Universal Soil Loss Equation) which was developed by Wischmeier and Smith (1965, 1978). From this research result, the prediction of surface erosion rate in the basin catchment area in the year 2019 is equal to 53.20 mm/year or equivalent with 62,491.92 m3/year, and the value of Sediment Delivery Ratio (SDR) is equal to 32,28 %. The number of material which eroded is equal to 957.59 Ton/Ha/year so it is classified into the medium erosion class category. The dead storage of 5% of the the volume of the reservoir cage will be fully charged in the year 2022 or for 3 The next year and the total volume of the reservoir Ridge will be full of sediment in the year 2062 or 43 years. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This paper investigates the interactions between externally bonded FRP and high strength concrete substrate in small scale reinforced concrete beams strengthened with CFRP. The bond mechanism was assessed through beam-tests adapted from ASTM, designed to simulate normal and shear stresses induced at the FRP/concrete interface. The beams were 600 mm long, with a square 150 mm × 150 mm cross-section, two 5 mm steel reinforcing bars, 6.3 mm steel stirrups spaced 75 mm apart, one single layer of externally bonded CFRP, and concrete compressive strength of 30 MPa, 50 MPa, 80 MPa, or 90 MPa. The mechanisms of damage initiation and debonding propagation showed to be highly dependent on the load transferring and the stress redistribution after concrete cracking. The use of high concrete compressive strength affected the pre-cracking response, the stress transfer, and the overall ductility at failure, resulting in a less effective FRP strengthening scheme. For service conditions, the strains in the FRP were lower, the higher the concrete compressive strength. The FRP strains at failure were below the maximum strain level to avoid intermediate crack-induced debonding determined according to current design standards. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The development of artificial intelligence technology has driven the emergence of various innovations in human-machine interaction, one of which is the chatbot. A chatbot is software that can interact with humans through text or voice, creating the impression that they are communicating with real people. Currently, chatbots are very popular. This chatbot was developed as a collaboration between the team from Soegijapranata Catholic University as part of the Higher Education Community and KRS BP2P Java III within the Kedaireka Matching Fund platform. The chatbot that has been developed aims to provide information services related to the process of building self-built housing. The KRS BP2P Java III chatbot makes it easier for the community to enhance their understanding of self-reliance in fulfilling the need for decent housing.

Space and form play an important role in the current geometry of recreational space and cognition of sound field. Therefore, there is different objective physical quantity information of sound energy. These concerned sounds are related to urban development and historical and cultural characteristics and will be highly recognizable sounds. It can be seen from the above that in urban recreational streets, through the objective physical characteristics of the street sound field sorted out, the positive evaluation can be predictably given, and the correspondence between the subjective feelings of the people will be explored. If the physical quantity of sound energy discusses the homogeneity of normalization of the soundscape and comprehensive physical quantity information, it is afraid to ignore the characteristics of spatial qualitative and internal variability. The currently research results propose the urban soundscape acoustic environment factors of waterfront recreation spaces, confirm and draw distinctive sound energy distribution maps and sound field perception. Understand the public’s sensitivity and preference for sound, and explore the correlation and consistency of measurement and computer simulation correspondence. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Promoting household adoption of water conservation behaviors (WCBs) has emerged as a vital strategic response to address water scarcity. Nevertheless, it is imperative to recognize that acceptance of residential WCBs relies on households' voluntary engagement, as are interventions designed to encourage households to become involved in such actions. Meanwhile, environmental psychology plays a key role in understanding individuals' WCBs and exploring the psychosocial determinants underlying these behaviors. Furthermore, the spread of technology and behavior among a population are known as a complex adaptive system (CAS), and agent-based modeling (ABM) offers a comprehensive and practical approach to studying CASs. Hence, the main aim of the present research is to introduce a novel, hybrid agent-based framework for simulating the adoption of residential WCBs, in which an extended model of the theory of planned behavior acts as household agents' behavioral rule for adopting water-efficiency behaviors (WEBs). The framework is also grounded in various theories rooted in psychological and social sciences. Moreover, the presented framework integrates ABM and structural equation modeling approaches. Although this study mainly focuses on WEBs, the framework includes a mechanism to update agents' water use based on their adoption level of water curtailment behaviors. Thus, the presented framework allows for simultaneously but separately exploring the preferred level of both types of WCBs among household agents.
