For ultrasound heart images artery segmentation, this paper introduces a novel method based on speckle denoising with nonlinear coherent diffusion. This method reduces the segmentation sensitivity to image noise and speeds up level-set evolution largely. We do denoising process in narrow band region with an improved nonlinear coherent diffusion (INCD) to improve ultrasound images local region coherence property and preserve the edge to speed up evolution of level set. The results of segmentation show: After same iterations, zero level set fronts move faster in filtered images with INCD than filtered with other methods, the proposed method is more accurate and efficient.

In the paper, we present a new surface rendering method using a modified contour matching algorithm. The algorithm is based on the invariance of curvature after rotating or displacement. Using the description of contour by curvature, the problem of contour matching in 2D is converted into a 1D problem. Therefore it decreases the computational cost. In the computing, we compared two kinds of numerical algorithms, i.e. predictor-corrector scheme and successive over relaxation (SOR). Finally, we introduce a 3D surface rendering procedure employing the contour matching.

A new restoration algorithm based on double loops and alternant iterations is proposed to restore the object image effectively from a few frames of turbulence-degraded images, Based on the double loops, the iterative relations for estimating the turbulent point spread function PSF and object image alternately are derived. In this paper, we investigate the problem of analyzing the shape of obstacle-avoiding paths in a space. Given a d-dimensional space with holes, representing obstacles, we ask if certain paths are equivalent, informally if one path can be continuously deformed into another, within this space. Algebraic topology is used to distinguish between topologically different paths. A compact yet complete signature of a path is constructed, based on cohomology theory. Possible applications include assisted living, residential, security and environmental monitoring. Numerical results will be presented in the final version of this paper.

Guided by a building concept model, which interprets building into different levels and scales, this paper presents a method to extract buildings in monocular urban aerial images without priori illuminating or orientation knowledge. By using a shadow context model, a method was proposed to estimate the direction of shadow cast to verify the raw segmentations. Building extractions are refined by context, and a method of partial snake with the aid of the shadow cast direction is proposed, which can sharply reduce the iteration complexity and the influence caused by illumination. The extraction of self-shadow on gable roof with a proposed mathematical roof model is also discussed in this paper.
