In this paper, firstly, processes of classical inference are reviewed as granular reasoning from a point of view of reconstructing Kripke-style models with granularity. The essential point of the reconstruction is that some possible worlds are amalgamated to generate granules of worlds and vice versa. It is also called zoom reasoning systems. Then, the idea is applied for fuzzy reasoning processes by considering fuzzily granularized possible worlds. There linguistic truth values with linguistic hedges can be naturally introduced.

A novel strategy for elevator group supervisory control from the viewpoint of passengers is proposed, which considers both the mental need and the physical requirement of passengers. The formula of calculating the maximum number of passenger shocks is derived on the basis of the analysis of passenger demands. Based on maximum long-wait time and the maximum number of shocks, the strategy is realized by using fuzzy inference system. The simulation result shows that the average riding time and the number of the passenger shocks under are reduced greatly comp.red with the other two conventional elevator group control strategies.

Super splines are bivariate splines defined on triangulations, where the smoothness enforced at the vertices is larger than the smoothness enforced across the edges. In this paper, the smoothness conditions and conformality conditions for super splines are presented. Three locally supported super splines on type-1 triangulation are presented. Moreover, the criteria to select local bases is also given. By using local supported super spline function, a variation-diminishing operator is built. Previous studies showed that the relation for product of peak velocity and duration against.saccadic amplitude was highly linear correlated. The velocity profile was related as a triangular profile and referred to the saccadic amplitude as an integration of the profile, so that the amplitude is proportional to the product of peak velocity and duration. The saccadic amplitude can be described as a function of peak velocity and duration. In this study, in addition to the triangular profile, the rational power function was applied to explain the above linear relation. The acceleration and deceleration phases can be described, respectively, with the different shape parameters (n1 and n2). Finally, we described the product of peak velocity and acceleration time relating to the acceleration amplitude, and the product of peak velocity and deceleration time relating to the deceleration amplitude. The results show that the acceleration and deceleration phase parameters could be used to accurately delineate the saccadic characteristics.

A recent trend in ad hoc network routing is the reactive on-demand philosophy where routes are established only when required. Most of the protocols in this category, however, use single route and do not utilize multiple alternate paths. This paper proposes a scheme to improve existing on-demand routing protocols by introducing the power aware virtual node scheme in whole scenario. The scheme establishes the multi paths without transmitting any extra control message. It offers quick adaptation to distributed processing, dynamic linking, low processing and memory overhead and loop freedom at all times. It also uses the concept of Power awareness among route selection nodes and concept of Virtual Nodes which insures fast selection of routes with minimal efforts and faster recovery. The scheme is applied to the Ad-hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) protocol and the performance has been studied through simulation.

The nature of the crosstalk for the ultrasonic ranging sensor is analyzed in theory. On the basis of the analysis, a new method to avoid the crosstalk, and a novel algorithm using the ultrasonic wave beam angle for locating obstacles are put forward. Further more, a mathematical formula used to calculate the motion direction of a mobile robot, and a practical path-planning algorithm named as going forward, turning-left, turning-right based on the fusion of infrared and ultrasonic sensors are given. Experiments about these algorithms are performed on our designed and developed mobile robot CASIA-I in the given corridor that has stochastic obstacle distributions and the experimental results prove of the reliability of these algorithms.

A non-parametric image blur measure is presented. The measure is based on edge analysis and is suitable for various image processing applications. The proposed measure for any edge point is obtained by combining die standard deviation of the edge gradient magnitude profile and the value of the edge gradient magnitude using a weighted average. The standard deviation describes the width of the edge, and its edge gradient magnitude is also Included to make the blur measure more reliable. Moreover, the value of the weight is related to image contrast and can be calculated directly from the image. Experiments on natural scenes indicate that the proposed technique can effectively describe the blurriness of images in image processing applications.
