Repetitive processes are a distinct class of two-dimensional systems (i.e. information propagation in two independent directions) of both systems theoretic and applications interest. They cannot be controlled by direct extension of existing techniques from either standard (termed ID here) or two-dimensional (2D) systems theory. Here we give new results on the relatively open problem of the design of physically based control laws using an Hinfin;setting. These results are for the sub-class of so-called differential linear repetitive processes which arise in applications areas such as iterative learning control.

IP' routing table lookup has been considered as a major bottleneck for high-speed routers. In the past few years, several data structures and related algorithms have been developed to accomp.ish high-speed routing table lookup. In particular, an efficient algorithm, called binary search on prefix lengths, was designed by grouping prefixes of identical lengths into individual tables and applying hashing technique in these tables to find matching prefixes. The time comp.exity of binary search on prefix lengths is [log(W +1)] assuming W-bit address. In this paper, we propose a multi-way search algorithm on prefix lengths to improve the average lookup performance of the binary search scheme without sacrificing its worst-case search performance. The proposed scheme is so simple that it basically does not increase the comp.exity in constructing the search tree and in memory requirement. Through experiments on real backbone routing tables, we found that the improvement can be more than 37% for most tables and 21% for one table.

The objective of this paper is to develop a non-contact measurement system of freeform surface and propose an algorithm on determining the key geometric characteristics of freeform surface such as unit surface normal vector and principal curvature etc. The procedure begins with measurement of freeform surface. The hardware structure and work principle of the measurement system are analyzed. Then a parametric surface approximation method is used to locally represent the measured points on the surface. On the basis of the local geometry, the key geometric characteristics of freeform surface are determined. The method above avoids the modeling of all the measured points with a single or multi-patched surface, which is difficult or sometimes even impossible. Simulation and experimental results are presented to verify the developed methods.

In this paper we present a method for extracting neural network rules based on correlation coefficient decision tree. The correlation coefficient based on statistics can be defined to describe the correlation degree between every input and output node in artificial neural network. Using this definition, the correlation coefficient decision tree is constructed to present the rules hiding in artificial neural network. Experimental results show that this approach is comp.ct, efficient, and comp.ehensible. Its classification result has high fitting degree, and it can be used to process huge data set.

We describe a sensor network deployment method using autonomous flying robots. Such networks are suitable for tasks such as large-scale environmental monitoring or for command and control in emergency situations. We describe in detail the algorithms used for deployment and for measuring network connectivity and provide experimental data we collected from field trials. A particular focus is on determining gaps in connectivity of the deployed network and generating a plan for a second, repair, pass to comp.ete the connectivity. The existing plan recognition models are efficient only in collaborative field, so a plan recognition approach based on Bayesian belief network model is proposed to suit the adversarial multi-agent environment. Several typical rules of robotic soccer were studied and experiments were done by using the robot soccer simulation game. From the viewpoint of real engineering applications, the general Combinatorial Optimization Problem (COP) is studied with fuzzy set theory. Since the known cost information between the elements of COP is normalized into the real number [0,1], the concept of neighborhood degree is guided to measure the scale from the nearest (smallest cost) to the farthest (biggest cost) with fuzzy evaluation. The Total Neighborhood Measure (TNM) is proposed for estimating the quality of the incumbent solution in dynamic exploring process, and the Partial Neighborhood Measure (PNM) is also proposed, where the inferior portion of the solution can be detected and improved in the next heuristics operation. The properties and main role of the whole neighborhood measure are shown by the TSP (Traveling Salesman Problem) experiments, which the various tour data (benchmark, random and fractal type) are used and the scales are adjustable at 30-5000. Another experiment with vehicle dispatch and delivery problem is also down, where the poor tour (for vehicles) is detectable by the TNM and the poor trip (sub-tour for delivery job) can be caught through PNM. The algorithm using above strategy can avoid unnecessary parameter setting and press the useless and duplicate operation down. It is confirmed that the whole comp.tational process is 15-30% faster than usual evolutionary method.
