The article discusses the theoretical foundations of the design of a single-channel ultrahigh frequency moisture meter with direct measurement of the moisture content of bulk materials. In accordance with the requirements of the methodology for selecting efficiency criteria, it is necessary to develop structural diagrams of measuring devices. For these purposes, the standard deviation of the random error is determined, characterizing the accuracy. It includes the main components: sensitivity error, zero error and additive component. Mathematical models of structures are constructed and the standard deviation of random errors, which are caused by certain parameters and additive fluctuations, is calculated. A single-parameter ultrahigh-frequency method for determining the moisture content is proposed. This method provides high accuracy of a single-channel ultrahigh frequency moisture meter with direct measurement of the moisture content of bulk materials. The measuring device can be used in the agricultural industry, where humidity is one of the important parameters, starting with harvesting and ending with the release of finished products. © 2024 IEEE.

With the growing rate of greenhouse gas emissions in the transport sector, research and development of new technologies for producing less polluting and more efficient combustion engines have been constant. However, the reductions have not been so significant, as the vast majority of these engines are still dependent on fossil fuels. Electric Vehicles are one of the main alternatives for reducing greenhouse gases. However, its high cost and charging infrastructure are still barriers in the current scenario, but, in the long term will become highly competitive and tend to dominate the market in the transport area. In this work, projections of the light vehicle fleet evolution in Brazil will be presented, until 2050, considering the penetration of the main types of electric vehicles. Based on government data from the expansion of the interconnected electrical system, estimates of indirect emissions from recharging electric vehicle batteries are presented for low and high-electric mobility scenarios. Estimates show a significant reduction in CO2 emissions, even considering the low mobility scenario, where part of the combustion fleet is still present. A particularity is observed about plug-in hybrid vehicles, as their autonomy in electric mode is sufficient for daily driving demands, and emissions may suffer more significant reductions. © 2023 IEEE.

Modular multilevel converters are being researched more and more due to the large number of possible applications. In addition to physical experiments, simulations also provide important insights. To make this possible, it is necessary to be able to take advantage of high-performance simulations. This paper introduces a framework to simulate a system consisting of a Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) and three phases, each with a full-bridge converter and a Battery Modular Multilevel Management (BM3) converter. This framework allows it to simulate up to at least 140 BM3 modules per phase. In experiments, it was shown that it is possible to simulate 10 modules per phase in 1.43 s per uptime second. © 2022 IEEE.

In connection with the problems of development and implementation of perfect automatic and automated control systems for complex technological processes based on modern information technology tools, the development of research methods for multidimensional nonlinear discrete control systems is of particular relevance. The variety of these systems is due to the types of modulation, non-linearities, modes of operation of impulse elements, characteristics of continuous parts. The article deals with the problems of modeling and research of one-dimensional and multidimensional pulse-frequency systems with delay based on the use of dynamic graphs. One of the key points in solving the problem is an approach based on the maximum consideration of the physical features of these systems. Given the structural complexity of systems, it is necessary first of all to establish the possibility of decomposing the system into simpler subsystems. Then the study of the system can be reduced to the study of individual subsystems and the nature of their interaction, that is, to the determination of the properties of the system as a whole by the properties of its elements. Systems with frequency-pulse modulation are essentially non-linear systems. The topological method based on dynamic graph models allows solving the fundamental difficulties of studying nonlinear discrete systems with delay, allows clearly and strictly formalizing their description, and makes it possible to obtain effective algorithms for analyzing one-dimensional and multidimensional systems of this class. The article presents an example of using the obtained algorithm. © 2022 IEEE.

The article analyzes the data of elderly patients with airway cancer before and after surgery. To reduce the mortality of cancer patients in the postoperative period, it is necessary to identify markers that can predict the deterioration of the patient's condition. The study involved 83 patients, who recorded 216 parameters before and 47 parameters after surgery. The data contain not only general laboratory parameters, but also blood gas parameters, hemodynamic data and autonomic indices, metabolic parameters and cardiorespiratory stress tests at various levels of exercise. Statistical data analysis is carried out using the SPSS program and is based on the following methods: one-sided Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Mann-Whitney test, chi-square test and the use of logistic regression to build a multivariate model. The investigated variable is the result of the operation, which can take the following values: no complications, complications after surgery, death. The result of this analysis, namely the determination of mortality markers, will determine which of the patients should not undergo surgery, and who need special medical supervision in the postoperative period. © 2021 IEEE.

Pedestrian detection plays an important role in the environmental perception and autonomous navigation for robotics, which provides critical information for the safe operation in complex environments. In this paper, a 3D pedestrian detector with calibrated LiDAR and RGB Camera is proposed, which takes full advantage of the precise range information of 3D LiDAR scanner and semantic information acquired from RGB image. The proposed approach integrates the segmented object clusters of point cloud and 2D bounding boxes generated by a visual object detector. The point cloud is segmented by a three-step segmentation approach, which can segment point cloud with both high precision and high efficiency. By fusion multi-sensor information in the image domain, the proposed approach provides 3D information of pedestrians in both LiDAR and camera coordinate systems. Experiments was conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed approach. © 2019 IEEE.

Plateletpheresis is a crucial step for the blood donation and clinical diagnosis. Herein we demonstrate a method to conduct plateletpheresis using acoustofluidic technology in a disposable device that is fabricated solely by a plastic material with precise simulated modeling using low-cost technic. In this device, a quarter wavelength resonator is utilized in order to serve the top layer as the 'tracking wall.' With this device, over 87% RBC removal and platelet recovery rate are achieved at 20 mL/min flow rate with undiluted whole human blood while the function of the platelets is still retained and better than conventional plateletpheresis method. Conclusively, this disposable device synthesizes the high efficiency, high throughput and high biocompatibility which is suitable as the substitute of the current plateletpheresis equipment.

An unconditionally stable finite difference scheme for systems whose dynamics are described by a second-order partial differential equation is developed. The scheme is motivated by the well-known Crank-Nicolson discretization which was developed for first-order systems. The stability of the finite-difference scheme is analysed by von Neumann's method. Using the new scheme, a discrete in time and space model of a deformable mirror is derived as the basis for control law design. The convergence of this scheme for various values of the discretization parameters is checked by numerical simulations.
