Recent technological developments in Unmanned Aerial systems (UAS) have allowed the integration of UAS into the field of marine science. UAS provide a low risk, low cost platform to collect and relay data at various spatial and temporal scales. As an integral part of Ocean Observation systems (OOS), UAS can provide an agile platform for delivering high-bandwidth, high-frequency data between surface sensors, roving sensors (AUVs and other UAS's), OOS hubs, and surface stations. Harnessing this new capability can improve the quality and efficiency of data collection and distribution by OOS, which yields improved data for the adaptive management of marine resources.

Dynacargo, a research project under implementation, aims to change supply chain management, as the hauled goods are at the center of attention inst.ad of vehicles, as in traditional management approaches. At the same time Dynacargo manages both delivery and collection cycles. Dynacargo aims at developing a near real-time monitoring system that monitors and transmits waste bins' fill level, which is used to dynamically manage the waste collection process by introducing distance minimization, relying on efficient routing algorithms. This paper deals with research issues that have emerged along with developments regarding specific architectural modules. In general, Dynacargo places a set of durable, low cost sensors and RFID tags on waste bins. These tags store the fill-level estimated by the sensors, which is passed through diverse communication channels and ends to a central cargo information management system. Along with this real time data harvesting, data mining techniques are utilized on historical data collected prior to Dynagargo implementation, in order to predict future waste bins fill rates. Mobile and web applications are developed in order to harvest relevant data from citizens. © 2015 ACM.

Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L) Moench), is widely grown all over tropical, subtropical and warm temperature regions of the world. It is a popular crop in India due to its ease of cultivation and adaptability to varying moisture conditions. But the crop is prone to damage by various diseases caused by various insects, fungi, nematodes and viruses. The most common disease of okra is Yellow Vein Mosaic Virus (YVMV), spread by white fly (Bemisiatabaci). This paper presents an efficient technique to detect and classify the presence of YVMV disease in okra leaf with the joint use of image processing, K-means and Naive Bayesian classifier. The proposed technique is experimented on 79 standard diseased and non-diseased okra leaf images. The input leaf images are of four classes, namely Highly Susceptible (HS), Moderately Susceptible (MS), Tolerable (T) and Resistive (R), depending upon the severity of the YVMV infection. The proposed technique achieves 87% success rate using 10 features only.

A vibration isolation system called Type-Bp system used for power recycling mirrors has been developed for KAGRA, the interferometric gravitational-wave observatory in Japan. A suspension of the Type-Bp system passively isolates an optic from seismic vibration using three main pendulum stages equipped with two vertical vibration isolation systems. A compact reaction mass around each of the main stages allows for achieving sufficient damping performance with a simple feedback as well as vibration isolation ratio. Three Type-Bp systems were inst.lled in KAGRA, and were proved to satisfy the requirements on the damping performance, and also on estimated residual displacement of the optics. We propose essay development schemata to support learners in English essay writing. The schemata are expressed by unified vocabulary in unified level of detail. Since essay structures are expressed as such schemata, learners will be able to know what the structures of essay exist, recognize how each structure is different, and what kinds of information are necessary for composing a type of essay. computers, moreover, can support learners in composing essays by referring to the schemata as the knowledge of the logical structures of English essay.

In typical settings for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), a potentially large set of nodes operates under strict requirements concerning energy consumption and packet delivery success. If non-reliable or even malicious nodes participate, standard protocols can suffer in performance which may result in a limited functionality of the whole network. This paper addresses this issue by establishing end-to-end trust relationships among nodes with the goal to isolate malicious nodes. In order to increase the scalability towards large-scale system sizes, we extend the mechanism with an adaptive signature mechanism as basis for the trust value distribution technique. Evaluations cover a theoretical discussion and a simulation-based setting. The results show that malicious nodes can be quickly isolated. Thereby, the already low additional effort for trust can be reduced significantly compared to reference solutions.
