Podcasting has become a very popular and successful Internet service in a short time. This success illustrates the interest for participatory broadcasting, but podcasting is alas only available with fixed infrastructure support to retrieve publicized episodes. We aim at releasing this limitation and present herein a podcasting system architecture based on opportunistic wireless networking that allows us to extend podcasting to ad hoc domains. The design is explained and presented together with a prototype implementation running on hand-held devices. We analyze different fundamental design tradeoffs based on measurements. To better identify the objects in remote sensing images, the multispectral images with high spectral resolution and low spatial resolution, and the panchromatic images with high spatial resolution and low spectral resolution need to be fused. Many fusion techniques are discussed in the recent years to obtain images with high spectral resolution and also high spatial resolution. In this paper an image fusion technique, based on integrating both the Intensity-Hue-Saturation (IHS) and the Discrete Wavelet Frame Transform (DWFT), is proposed for boosting the quality of remote sensing images. A panchromatic and multispectral image from Landsat-7(ETM+) satellite has been fused using this new approach. Experimental results show that the proposed technique improves the spectral and spatial qualities of the fused images. Moreover, when this technique is applied to noisy and de-noised remote sensing images it can preserve the quality of the fused images. Comparison analyses between different fusion techniques are also presented and show that the proposed technique outperforms the other techniques.

Organizing wireless sensor networks into clusters enables the efficient utilization of the limited energy resources of the deployed sensor nodes. If the network is organized into heterogeneous clusters, where some more powerful nodes take on the cluster head role to control network operation, it is important to ensure that energy dissipation of these cluster heads and "critical sensor nodes" is balanced. We propose a Cluster Head Scheduling scheme to determine which cluster head should be turned off or on. The proposed mechanism is based on the coverage information as well as residual battery power, which can lead to more uniform energy dissipation among cluster head nodes and critical sensor nodes, thus increasing network lifetime. Moreover, the proposed scheme strengthens the robustness of heterogeneous sensor networks .

In this paper, we present a new segmentation model, which makes uses of Curvelet's advantages of edge preserving and noise averaging. The model first applies Lorentzian-function based diffusion for stable pixel clustering, and then projects boundaries by Curvelet transform (CT) to enhance edges and modify region smear in diffusion. In particular, we also propose a criterion to seek the appropriate moment for CT enhancement, it is fulfilled by comparing partition results of Lorentzian and Tukey-based functions. If the number of reduced regions between two adjacent segmentation rounds arrives a threshold, CT will be performed to prevent edge disappearing. Experiments show that this significant segmentation is resulted from CT's properties of boundary keeping and denoising, the method is superior to many other PDE approaches.

There are many asynchronous communication situations for which the prevalent continuous connectivity paradigm is not needed. communication with a fair delay tolerance may inst.ad be provided by intermittent store-and-forwarding between nodes. This paper proposes a design for an open, receiver-driven broadcasting system that relies on delay-tolerant forwarding of data chunks through mobility of wireless nodes. The system provides public broadcast channels, which can be openly used for both transmission and reception. We show by simulation under benchmark mobility models that a delay-tolerant broadcast channel has both a sufficiently high throughput and reach to be interesting as a competitive alternative to the regulated wireless broadcast channel. We also present the design of, and experiences with, a proof-of-concept prototype. Copyright 2006 ACM.

The two dimensional systolic array for multiplication in binary field GF(2m) with LSB (Least Significant Bit) first algorithm proposed by Yeh et al. has the unfavorable property of bidirectional data flows compared with that of Wang and Lin which use MSB (Most Significant Bit) first algorithm. In this paper, by using a polynomial basis with LSB first algorithm, we present an improved bit parallel systolic array over GF(2m). Our two dimensional systolic array has unidirectional data flows with 7 latches in each basic cell. Therefore our systolic array has a shorter critical path delay and has the same unidirectional data flows to the multipliers with MSB first scheme. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2006.

Data caches significantly reduce the average memory access time and are necessary for an efficient design. Due to its direct dependency on input data is difficult to predict the worst case timing behavior, which is crucial for a reliable system. While simulation is too time-consuming, current worst case execution time approaches focus on inst.uction caches only. Current approaches to data cache analysis restrict cache behavior to predictable data accesses or classify input dependent memory accesses as non-cache able. In this paper we propose a worst case timing analysis for direct mapped data caches that classifies memory accesses as predictable or unpredictable. For unpredictable memory accesses, a novel analysis framework is proposed that tightly bounds the impact on the existing cache contents as well as cache behavior of unpredictable memory accesses themselves. For predictable memory accesses, we use a local cache simulation and dataflow techniques. Furthermore, we describe an implementation of the analysis framework. Several experiments demonstrate its applicability. The approach targets real-time software verification but is also useful for design space exploration

This paper presents a model based prediction of haptic data signals for data compression purposes in virtual haptic teleinteraction environments. The proposed data reduction itself is based on psychophysical properties of human perception. This scheme can be used for Internet-based multimedia applications like haptics-supported games or virtual haptic explorations. Using our approach haptic data packet rate reduction of up to 95% without impairing immersiveness is achieved.

There are both associations and differences between structured and unstructured data mining. How to unite them together to be a united theoretical framework and to guide the research of knowledge discovery and data mining has become an urgent problem to be solved. On the base of analysis and study of existing research results, the united model of knowledge discovery state space （UMKDSS） is presented, and the structured data mining and the complex type data mining are associated together. UMKDSS can provide theoretical guidance for complex type data mining. An application example of UMKDSS is given at last.
