High speed networks provide realtime variable bit rate service with diversified traffic flow characteristics and quality requirements. The variable bit rate traffic has stringent delay and packet loss requirements. The burstiness of the correlated traffic makes dynamic buffer management highly desirable to satisfy the Quality of Service (QoS) requirements. This paper presents an algorithm for optimization of adaptive buffer allocation scheme for traffic based on loss of consecutive packets in data-stream and buffer occupancy level. Buffer is designed to allow the input traffic to be partitioned into different priority classes and based on the input traffic behavior it controls the threshold dynamically. This algorithm allows input packets to enter into buffer if its occupancy level is less than the threshold value for priority of that packet. The threshold is dynamically varied in runtime based on packet loss behavior. The simulation is run for two priority classes of the input traffic - realtime and non-realtime classes. The simulation results show that Adaptive Partial Buffer Sharing (ADPBS) has better performance than Static Partial Buffer Sharing (SPBS) and First In First Out (FIFO) queue under the same traffic conditions.

The contention-based DCF suffers from collision seriously under heavy load conditions. In this paper, a novel medium access control protocol called Contention-Polling Duality Coordination Function (CPDCF) is proposed to enhance the DCF-based MAC protocol. A polling ACK mechanism is introduced to admit the designated station to transmit without performing any contention process. By eliminating collisions and preventing waste from idle backoff slots, the system capacity is increased effectively. A mathematical model is developed to analyze the saturation throughput of the CPDCF with various CP combinations. The performance in terms of fairness is studied as well. The model accuracy is verified via extensive simulations. Numerical results show that the well-managed CPDCF can achieve a significantly higher system capacity than the legacy DCF does. The proposed CPDCF is quite feasible, effective, and can be easily integrated with the widespread DCF-based devices.

The paper utilizes semantic Web and knowledge service technologies to construct a subject-oriented learning navigation system used in middle school education. The system inherently builds a knowledge base by ontology to store the relationship of subject knowledge points to learning resource and relationship between knowledge points , displays the reticulated structure of knowledge (navigation map) formed by visualizing knowledge base, and aggregates corresponding learning resource of knowledge point to enable learners practice their learning process according to the navigation map. The thesis build ontology for navigated learning to achieve pragmatic learning navigation, there are several advantages for this innovative research: the reticulated structure of knowledge in a certain subject could be displayed briefly and straightforward; the system could recommend related and further study materials for learners and intelligently discover the weak knowledge points of learners according to automated reasoning on knowledge base. The system also provides an interactive environment for both teachers to edit the knowledge structure and learners to study. As the most popular knowledge model, we mainly discusses the establishment of semantic knowledge Web, model of the knowledge base, knowledge storage for knowledge points in junior and senior schools, and the realization and utilization of the ontology-based navigation map.

Wu's method is one of the most popular approach to solve multivariate nonlinear equations proposed by Wu Wentsun. Wu's elimination method is the main idea of Wu's method. It is widely used in mechanical proving, automated reasoning, scientific computing, computer graphics, etc. The graphics calculator is commonly used in education and advanced mathematics research. Before Wu's elimination method has been implemented on personal computers, however it's not adaptive for movable learning. Hence we propose a scheme and algorithm on graphing calculator according to characteristics of embedded system and implement the algorithm in Noah graphing calculator. Our program can also be used in other graphing calculator based on GIAC. It is very helpful for better understanding of elimination in multivariate nonlinear equations for mathematics education.

The dynamic geometry system is a typical CAI application that utilizes computer technology to guide geometry learning. In our research of the dynamic geometry on handheld devices, we have successfully implemented a brand new system called "mathematic sketchpad", a part of the Noah graphing calculator. Compared to other similar products like TI or CASIO graphing calculator, the sketchpad owns features such as advanced mathematic functions, true color screen and touch-pen operations that emphasize powerful and user-friendly purpose. Different from PC software, the sketchpad have advantages such as portability, mobile teaching and classroom interactive teaching that are good for mathematics education. Besides, the dynamic geometry system on "mathematic sketchpad" is built on computer algebra basis that allows numeric-symbolic combination to handle even difficult tasks. In this paper, we will briefly introduce the implementation of sketchpad, corresponding theories that make dynamic geometry possible, and give some examples that can be used in teaching.
