Endo-atmospheric maneuver penetration strategy based on generative adversarial reinforcement learning

Numerical study on ignition start-up process of an underwater solid rocket motor across a wide depth range

Recent advances in high-temperature gas-cooled reactor fuel research have captured the global spotlight, as modern operating contexts demand innovative responses to unprecedented challenges. This article offers an overview of contemporary directions in high-temperature gas-cooled reactor fuel design worldwide, pinpointing the shared operational demands and development patterns characteristic of these advanced fuels. It presents an innovative advanced fuel design, which incorporates multi-layer coated particles to boost safety and employs high-temperature-resistant silicon carbide (SiC) ceramics, seamlessly integrated with cutting-edge additive manufacturing (AM) techniques. This design heralds a shift toward modular fuel element solutions that are easily scalable, supporting the diverse array of advanced reactors and marking a significant step forward in the quest for high-temperature gas-cooled reactor fuel technologies. © 2024 Xi'an Jiaotong University

Optimizing near-carbon-free nuclear energy systems:advances in reactor operation digital twin through hybrid machine learning algorithms for parameter identification and state estimation

Accurate and efficient online parameter identification and state estimation are crucial for leveraging digital twin simulations to optimize the operation of near-carbon-free nuclear energy *** previous studies,we developed a reactor operation digital twin(RODT).However,non-differentiabilities and discontinuities arise when employing machine learning-based surrogate forward models,challenging traditional gradient-based inverse methods and their *** study investigated deterministic and metaheuristic algorithms and developed hybrid algorithms to address these *** efficient modular RODT software framework that incorporates these methods into its post-evaluation module is presented for comprehensive *** methods were rigorously assessed based on convergence profiles,stability with respect to noise,and computational *** numerical results show that the hybrid KNNLHS algorithm excels in real-time online applications,balancing accuracy and efficiency with a prediction error rate of only 1%and processing times of less than 0.1 ***,algorithms such as FSA,DE,and ADE,although slightly slower(approximately 1 s),demonstrated higher accuracy with a 0.3%relative L_2 error,which advances RODT methodologies to harness machine learning and system modeling for improved reactor monitoring,systematic diagnosis of off-normal events,and lifetime management *** developed modular software and novel optimization methods presented offer pathways to realize the full potential of RODT for transforming energy engineering practices.

Improvement of multi-parameter anomaly detection method: Addition of a relational token between parameters

In the continuous development of systems, the increasing volume and complexity of data that engineers must analyze have become significant challenges. To address this issue, extensive research has been conducted on automated anomaly detection in logs. However, due to the limited variety of available datasets, most studies have focused on sequence-based anomalies in logs, with relatively little attention paid to parameter-based anomaly detection. To bridge this gap, we prepared a labeled dataset specifically designed for parameter-based anomaly detection and propose a novel method utilizing BERTMaskedLM. Since continuously changing logs in system development are difficult to label, we also propose a method that enables learning without labeled data. Previous studies have employed BERTMaskedLM to capture relationships between parameters in multi-parameter logs for anomaly detection. However, a known issue arises when the ranges of numerical parameters overlap, resulting in reduced detection accuracy. To mitigate this, we introduced tokens that encode the relationships between parameters, improving the independence of parameter combinations and enhancing anomaly detection accuracy (increasing the F1-score by more than 0.002). In this study, we employed a simple yet effective approach by using the total value of each token as the added token. Since only the parameter portions vary within the same log template structure, these proposed tokens effectively capture the relationships between parameters. Additionally, we visualized the influence of the added tokens and conducted experiments using a new dataset to assess the reliability of our proposed method. © 2025

A Peridynamic Approach for the Evaluation of Metal Ablation under High Temperature

In this paper,the evaluations of metal ablation processes under high temperature,i.e.,the Al plate ablated by a laser and a heat carrier and the reactor pressure vessel ablated by a core melt,are studied by a novel peridynamic *** all,the peridynamic formulation for the heat conduction problem is obtained by Taylor’s expansion ***,a simple and efficient moving boundary model in the peridynamic framework is proposed to handle the variable geometries,in which the ablated states of material points are described by an additional scalar ***,due to the automatic non-interpenetration properties of peridynamic method,a contact algorithm is established to determine the contact relationship between the ablated system and the additional heat *** addition,the corresponding computational procedure is listed in ***,several numerical examples are carried out and the results verify the validity and accuracy of the present method.

Improving log anomaly detection via spatial pooling: Combining SPClassifier with ensemble method

In the ever-updating field of software development, new bugs emerge daily, requiring significant time for analysis. As a result, research is being conducted on automating bug resolution using techniques such as anomaly detection through deep learning applied to text logs. This study focuses on anomaly detection using text logs and aims to address current challenges. Specifically, we aim to improve the accuracy of SPClassifier, a robust and lightweight AI model capable of handling dynamic log datasets through ad-hoc learning. We employ three ensemble learning methods to enhance the accuracy of SPClassifier. The method that achieved the greatest improvement was Improved Bagging, which combines the non-overlapping sampling of Pasting with the overlapping sampling of Bagging, resulting in a maximum F1-score improvement of 155 %. Additionally, on certain datasets, the F1-score surpassed that of well-known DNN methods by 130 %. Furthermore, the proposed method demonstrated lower variance compared to DNN methods, indicating its advantage, particularly in environments where datasets frequently fluctuate, such as development fields. These results highlight the clear superiority of the proposed method, which is lightweight in terms of computational resources and supports ad-hoc learning. © 2024

Development and verification of the higher-order mode neutron flux calculation code HARMONY2.0

Higher-order modes of the neutron diffusion/transport equation can be used to study the temporal behavior of nuclear reactors and can be applied in modal analysis, transient analysis, and online monitoring of the reactor core. Both the deterministic method and the Monte Carlo(MC) method can be used to solve the higher-order modes. However, MC method, compared to the deterministic method, faces challenges in terms of computational efficiency and α mode calculation stability, whereas the deterministic method encounters issues arising from homogenization-related geometric and energy spectra *** on the higher-order mode diffusion calculation code HARMONY, we developed a new higher-order mode calculation code, HARMONY2.0, which retains the functionality of computing λ and α higher-order modes from HARMONY1.0, but enhances the ability to treat complex geometries and arbitrary energy spectra using the MC-deterministic hybrid two-step strategy. In HARMONY2.0, the mesh homogenized multigroup constants were obtained using OpenMC in the first step,and higher-order modes were then calculated with the mesh homogenized core diffusion model using the implicitly restarted Arnoldi method(IRAM), which was also adopted in the HARMONY1.0 code. In addition, to improve the calculation efficiency, particularly in large higher-order modes, event-driven parallelization/domain decomposition methods are embedded in the HARMONY2.0 code to accelerate the inner iteration of λ∕α mode using OpenMP. Furthermore, the higher-order modes of complex geometric models, such as Hoogenboom and ATR reactors for λ mode and the MUSE-4 experiment facility for the prompt α mode, were computed using diffusion theory.

To develop a method for estimating age-related decline using the analysis of daily conversation characteristics of elderly individuals, we compared the conversation traits of elderly people living in serviced housing with those living independently at home. Our analysis revealed that elderly individuals in serviced housing exhibited higher average and standard deviation (SD) values of F0 per utterance. Additionally, their speech recognition results showed significantly higher word error rates, with frequent instances where utterances spanning multiple words were misrecognized as entirely different word sequences. The log-mel spectrogram of misrecognized parts were often more unstable and ambiguous compared to those of elderly individuals living independently. n the paper, we discuss the usefulness of these characteristics for distinguishing between elderly individuals residing in serviced housing and those living independently. © 2024 IEEE.
