For the past few decades, the demands for the natural fiber reinforced polymer composites were growing due to the advantages such as low cost, better strength to density ratio, availability and bio degradability etc. But due to their inherent nature they tend to absorb moisture, which results in weakening of the composite. In this work the hybrid fiber reinforced composite was developed by incorporating woven banana fiber and glass fiber in the Epoxy matrix. The effects of hybridization, stacking sequence and surface treatment of the banana fiber on the mechanical properties of the composite were investigated. Composite specimens were prepared by hand layup method followed by light compression. The specimens were evaluated for the mechanical properties as per ASTM standards, it was found that the stacking sequence had negligible effect on the tensile properties whereas the flexural and impact strength were largely affected by the stacking arrangement of the woven glass fiber and banana fiber. Similarly, the effect of chemical treatment on the mechanical properties of the composites were also evaluated. This research study has used deep learning techniques (DL) to classify spectrograms of acoustic signals. In addition, this study intends to differentiate spectrograms that contain a cough and those that do not contain a cough, and once it is known that a spectrogram contains a cough, it is possible to understand the underlying disease. The main goal is to obtain a system with better performance than those proposed so far in the literature in the field of cough detection and make a first approximation to the classification of diseases based on audio clips with cough. © 2023 IEEE.

Detection of Muscle Activity Interval plays a pivotal role in the design and implementation of real-time My-oelectric controlled devices and their applications. This paper presents an algorithm for real-time detection of onset/offset points in the muscles activity by employing adaptive threshold technique on the Correlation Coefficient of Taeger Kaiser Energy Operator using low cost hardware. Performance of the algorithm has also been evaluated through real-time tests carried out under various constrained scenarios and different signal to noise ratios, revealing very promising results with a maximum accuracy of 99.9% using medium or no external forces. The intricate internal flows in the rotodynamic water pump impellers can be well predicted by using computational fluid dynamics and mathematical modeling. An impeller is a radial type rotor that increases the acceleration of the fluid due to the centrifugal action and the fluid is pumped through the casing to a higher potential head. The efficiency and performance of the centrifugal pump can be enhanced by optimizing certain design parameters of the impeller. In this work, the impeller design and development of potential flow calculations for the liquid flow using the MATLAB software was performed. NX-CAD was used to model the impeller and pump. CFD analysis in ANSYS CFX showed the flow of liquid through the variable cross-section of the volute casing of the pump. Modification in impeller design showed that the overall performance of the pump can be improved. The program developed in the MATLAB also served as a type of calculator for determining the type of pump that can be used for various industrial purposes based on the velocity of the liquid, head and discharge rate. © 2020 Elsevier Ltd. Segmentation refers to a subclass of enhancement methods by which a particular object, organ, or image characteristic is extracted from the image data for purposes of visualization and measurement. Segmentation is a central problem of image analysis because it is a prerequisite for most analysis methods, including image registration, shape analysis, motion detection, volume, and area estimation. Unfortunately, there is no common method or class of methods applicable to medical images based on the assumption that the objects of interest have intensity or edge characteristics that allow them to be separated from the background and noise, as well as from each other. In dentistry the wisdom tooth (3rd molar), has the lack of room to erupt, it commonly affects other teeth as they develop and become partially erupted or impacted. To diagnose the problems associated with the wisdom teeth automatically and prepare the radiograph for final analysis, a segmentation algorithm is implemented and followed by post processing stage. The proposed segmentation method aims to extract wisdom teeth using clustering techniques. This information is used further to classify wisdom teeth as impacted, partially erupted, or completely erupted based on distance from IAN. © Grenze Scientific Society, 2022.

This study aims to assess the mechanical properties and damping characteristics of polyester composites reinforced with flax and kenaf fibers, incorporating 5 wt.% each of rice husk and wood dust. The research will employ mechanical testing, dynamic mechanical analysis across various temperatures and frequencies, and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Experiments will measure tensile strength, flexural strength, impact strength, hardness, natural frequency, and damping coefficient (tan δ). SEM imaging will examine the fractured surfaces of tensile samples. Composites will be fabricated using a manual layup technique, combining mat fiber with 5 wt.% each of rice husk and wood dust. Initial findings suggest that fiber incorporation decreases damping curves (tan δ), while the addition of rice husk and wood dust positively correlates with the composite's natural frequency and damping factor. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Whether it's concrete technology, design approaches, or the creation of novel materials, there's always a time delay between laboratory innovations and their practical implementations in the construction sector. However, practical application of steel fibre reinforced concrete is much ahead in the field of research and development. The purpose of this research was to examine the flexural behaviour of high-performance fibre reinforced concrete (HPFRC) in particular. HPFRC mix has been designed to obtain a concrete grade of M60. The modified IS technique is used to create the mix design. Dosage of superplasticizer was adjusted for each mix with incremental fibre content. Steel fibre used in the study comprised of crimpled fibre having 0.4 mm diameter and aspect ratio of 69.09. The hooked end fibre bearing 0.62 mm and aspect ratio of 69.09 is also used. The volume of the fraction of steel fibre namely 0.25 %, 0.5 %, 0.75 %, 1 %, 1.25 % and 1.5 % used in this experimental investigation. Results indicate that introduction of steel fibre significantly improved not only the crack behaviour but also increased the flexural strength significantly. Addition of steel fibre to HPFRC imparted significant increase in Young's Modulus. Strength studies were conducted by means of Young's Modulus for 28 days respectively for M 60 concrete. The goal of this study is to determine the role of fibres in post-cracking and fracture behaviour of concrete, as well as the stress–strain behaviour of cracked concrete specimen. © 2021
