Cryogenic treatment of work material is found to improve mechanical and thermal properties which gave the advantage of better machinability especially for difficult to machine materials such as titanium alloys. Titanium alloys are hard to machine because of its poor conductor of heat and high thermal coefficients. In order to improve the thermal conductivity titanium alloy was treated cryogenically. In this present study, the experimental investigation is performed with three dissimilar electrodes such as Graphite, Copper, and Zirconium di Boride coated with copper, from which the major output parameters such as electrode wear rate, material removal rate, and surface roughness are examined. In order to perform multi-objective optimization, by focusing on selecting parameters (peak current, voltage, cryogenically treated and non-treated work material, type of electrode) which could result in higher material removal rate, low electrode wear rate and low surface roughness, grey relational analysis was used in the present work. From the analysis it was observed that machining using non-cryogenically treated work material with graphite electrode gives promising result on peak current of 12 A and voltage of 45 V which satisfies the multi-objective criteria. This study reveals an effective way of machining titanium grade-2 alloy using EDM. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Customizing radiation treatments for each patient is a formidable obstacle in the fight against cancer. Because they rely on human intervention and generalization, traditional methods often provide less-than-ideal results and unwanted side effects. Utilizing patient-specific anatomical and tumor-specific data, this research analyzes the revolutionary possibilities of machine learning for planning radiation therapy. The goal of this research work is to forecast radiation doses, identify tumor boundaries, and reduce the exposure to healthy tissue using Deep Learning (DL), Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Random Forest (RF) models. Radiation planners must prioritize data heterogeneity, model interpretability, and clinical validation if machine learning has to be widely used. Improved patient outcomes and quality of life may be achieved via the use of Machine Learning (ML) to improve the radiation efficacy and accuracy, as shown in this research study that synthesizes existing research.

In recent years, continuous healthcare monitoring devices are in high demand. In this context, the flexible piezoelectric sensors are widely used in the biomedical monitoring applications. Here, the combined piezoelectric effect of the liquid exfoliated nanographite (LENG) with polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) polymer has been investigated. The prepared PVDF-LENG nanocomposite films (0.1-0.6% (w/v)) have undergone electrical poling process to attain high β beta phase transition for enhancement of the piezoelectric effect. The samples characterized for morphological study, functional group, and electrical properties. Piezoelectric responses over 100 cycles of compression indicate the use of LENG improves the piezo response of PVDF as well as its structural robustness. Wireless wearable monitoring of human gait was studied using these sensors positioned at different loci of socks. The foot strike data was obtained using in-house developed microcontroller-based Bluetooth miniature device. In future, these piezoelectric sensors can be applicable for wearable devices to assess the human activities in detail. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In order to implement switching reluctance generators (SRG) for wind energy conversion into the power distribution system (PDS), fundamental particle swarm optimization (PSO) is presented in this research. SRGs are an excellent alternative even if they are not frequently utilized in wind energy applications due to their high levels of resilience, efficacy and speed range. Controlling the electricity sent to the load is a never ending task. In order to keep the produced power as consistent as feasible given that the wind speed is changing, the voltage of excitation needs to be adjusted. In this section we offer a PSO method for enhancing a SRG efficiency in a distributed wind power system. The output power profile may be calculated by continuous simulations of generator model using a variety of control parameters due to Switched Reluctance Generator's extremely nonlinear characteristics. It is a multidimensional search space, therefore there are a lot of cycles. In order to shorten modelling duration and widen the search space, we have employed evolutionary methods. An elementary PSO approach is being developed to find the optimal firing angles and DC bus voltage levels under different operating conditions. With outstanding energy efficiency and minimal torque ripple, performance is guaranteed. Using this method, SRGs will operate at a slower speed than base speed in the currently under control area. The simulation results show that it is possible to achieve a level of performance that balances less torque ripple with improved economy. © 2023 IEEE.

Aluminum metal matrix composites (AMMCs) are in potential demand in numerous field such as automotive, defence and sports recreation sectors owe to important properties compared to traditional aluminium alloys. AA7055 is generally embraced and it is the ideal composite between Al7XXX series arrangement mainly used for different vehicle applications. AA7055 metal matrix composites properties can be improved by incorporating suitable reinforcement. The motivation behind this assessment is to give an outline of silicon nitride in the AA7055 MMC as a base material and to clarify changes in mechanical properties due to the inclusion of reinforcements that can be further improved in combination with the addition of appropriate reinforcement materials to the base matrix. © 2022

Cell tracking is a challenging task in computer vision because of dramatic changes of cell morphology, unregular movement pattern, and complex physiological phenomena such as mitosis and apoptosis. In recent years, cell image processing benefits a lot from the rapid development of deep learning: cell detection, segmentation, classification, especially tracking. In this paper, we propose a multiple cell tracking framework based-on multi-feature fusion. First, we propose an improved cell detection algorithm, which can detect cell mitosis and cell centroid with higher efficiency and accuracy. Second, we design a tracking framework based on the fusion of deep appearance feature and deep motion feature. Experimental results show that our proposed tracking method outperforms most traditional method and some state-of-the-art methods. © 2021 ACM.

Radiation-hardened very large scale integrations (VLSIs) are required for nuclear power plants, particularly for decommissioning operations. Nevertheless, the totalionizing-dose tolerance of current radiation-hardened VLSIs remains insufficient. Even if a space-grade VLSI were used, the totalionizing-dose tolerance would be only 1–20 kGy, implying their life-time as about 1–20 hr under the intense radiation of 1000 Sv/h around the melted nuclear fuel of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. This paper presents a new radiation-hardened field programmable gate array (RHFPGA) incorpo-rating a triple-modular redundant configuration function. The RHFPGA sustained a 7.3 MGy total ionizing dose: 365-7,300 times higher than those of existing space-grade VLSIs. How-ever, during decommissioning operations, recriticality presents an important concern. This paper explains evaluation of the soft-error tolerance of RHFPGAs against a 15.0 MeV high-energy neutron beam. No soft error occurred on RHFPGAs.
