The knowledge graph(KG) that represents structural relations among entities has become an increasingly important research field for knowledge-driven artificial intelligence. In this survey, a comprehensive review of KG and KG reasoning is provided. It introduces an overview of KGs, including representation, storage, and essential technologies. Specifically, it summarizes several types of knowledge reasoning approaches, including logic rules-based, representation-based, and neural network-based methods. Moreover, this paper analyzes the representation methods of knowledge hypergraphs. To effectively model hyper-relational data and improve the performance of knowledge reasoning, a three-layer knowledge hypergraph model is proposed. Finally, it analyzes the advantages of three-layer knowledge hypergraphs through reasoning and update algorithms which could facilitate future research.

Skin pathologies encompass a spectrum of conditions, with malignancies such as melanoma representing a critical diagnostic urgency. This investigation delineates the deployment of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for the classification of dermatological anomalies, benchmarking CNN diagnostic fidelity against dermatological expert evaluations. The study underscores the efficacy of CNN classifiers in expediting the diagnostic workflow for various cutaneous disorders. Advocating for an automated diagnostic framework, the research introduces a CNN-based system aimed at reducing human diagnostic load, accelerating diagnostic timelines, and enhancing survival outcomes. Utilizing advanced image processing algorithms and deep learning architectures, the research presents an automated classification system for skin pathologies, addressing both benign and malignant presentations. The classification matrix includes nine dermatological conditions: actinic keratosis, basal cell carcinoma, benign keratosis, dermatofibroma, melanoma, nevus, seborrheic keratosis, squamous cell carcinoma, and vascular lesions. The objective is to engineer a CNN model with robust diagnostic performance across a diverse lesion dataset, ensuring accurate identification and categorization of dermatological conditions. © 2024 IEEE.

Emotions play a crucial role in decision-making, moral judgments, and other cognitive processes. The goal of this work is to identify people's facial emotions from face images. Facial expression recognition (FER), a highly diverse field with many commonalities between classes, is a challenging problem. The capabilities of current FER systems are limited in this regard. In this work, a multi-block Deep Convolutional Neural Networks (DCNN) model was proposed to identify facial expressions. Five blocks with different computational components were defined in a multi-block DCNN to extract the unique characteristics from input images. The second model (DCNN-SVM) is developed with an ensemble of SVM classifier to improve predictability and stability. The third model (DCNN-MV) is based on the majority voting with 4 classifiers SVM, KNN, Random Forest, and Decision Tree. The CK+ dataset was utilized and expanded via image data augmentation to enhance model performance and generalization. By adjusting hyperparameters, the suggested DCNN model's accuracy was investigated. The DCNN model reports an accuracy score of 97.71%. Both DCNN-SVM and DCNN-MV models achieved 97.79% accuracy. On the CK+ dataset, the proposed models demonstrated good accuracy in identifying facial expressions. When compared to existing models, the proposed model outperformed existing models in terms of accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.

Predicting the pressure distribution on an airfoil is significantly influenced by the coordinates, flight state, and the geometric shape of the airfoil. Existing methods of geometric shape representation commonly require pre-modeled airfoil data or images, which lack flexibility and overlook the potential relationship with the flight state. To address this challenge, we propose a novel Geometric-Encoded and Feature-Fused Model (GEFF), which achieves airfoil geometric encoding and feature fusion within an end-to-end model and applies it to the prediction of pressure distribution. In the model, considering the positional relationships of samples along the airfoil, we propose a novel distance attention mechanism where physical distance relationships are integrated into the calculations to generate encoded geometric features from coordinates. These encoded features and flight state features are then fused to predict the corresponding pressure distribution. Extensive ablation studies and comparison experiments were performed on GEFF. GEFF demonstrates high accuracy. Compared to Transformer, GEFF reduces the predicted mean square error by an average of 16.0%. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Predicting ncRNA-protein interactions based on dual graph convolutional network and pairwise learning

Noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) have recently attracted considerable attention due to their key roles in biology. The ncRNA-proteins interaction (NPI) is often explored to reveal some biological activities that ncRNA may affect, such as biological traits, diseases, etc. Traditional experimental methods can accomplish this work but are often labor-intensive and expensive. Machine learning and deep learning methods have achieved great success by exploiting sufficient sequence or structure information. Graph Neural Network (GNN)-based methods consider the topology in ncRNA-protein graphs and perform well on tasks like NPI prediction. Based on GNN, some pairwise constraint methods have been developed to apply on homogeneous networks, but not used for NPI prediction on heterogeneous networks. In this paper, we construct a pairwise constrained NPI predictor based on dual Graph Convolutional Network (GCN) called NPI-DGCN. To our knowledge, our method is the first to train a heterogeneous graph-based model using a pairwise learning strategy. Instead of binary classification, we use a rank layer to calculate the score of an ncRNA-protein pair. Moreover, our model is the first to predict NPIs on the ncRNA-protein bipartite graph rather than the homogeneous graph. We transform the original ncRNA-protein bipartite graph into two homogenous graphs on which to explore second-order implicit relationships. At the same time, we model direct interactions between two homogenous graphs to explore explicit relationships. Experimental results on the four standard datasets indicate that our method achieves competitive performance with other state-of-the-art methods. Deep multi-view clustering (MVC) has recently gained significant interest for its capability to harness complementary information across multiple views through deep neural networks, enhancing clustering performance. However, existing deep MVC methods still have two issues: (1) They separate the feature learning objective and the clustering objective, potentially leading to suboptimal embedding features due to the neglect of the global clustering structure. (2) Most works utilize the target distribution obtained by the clustering objective to supervise feature learning. However, they simply sharpen the soft clustering distribution to obtain the target distribution, lacking the dynamics of the clustering process. To address these issues, in this paper we propose a novel end-to-end self-supervised multi-view clustering approach based on NeuralODEs, namely nmODE-MVC. Our approach operates in two stages: In the first stage, all view-embedded features are extracted, and then unified them into a global feature, facilitating global clustering assignments by exploiting multi-view data's complementarity. The second stage leverages the dynamic attributes of NeuralODEs to dynamically refine the data features and generate a target distribution that actively drives the clustering decisions. We formulate these learning processes as a unified optimization problem, facilitating iterative training and refinement. The effectiveness of nmODE-MVC is validated through extensive experiments on multiple real-world multi-view datasets. © 2023 IEEE.

Radio map estimation (RME) aims to construct a map of radio strength across multiple domains (e.g., space and frequency) from limited measurements. data-driven deep neural model-based RME showed promising performance, yet requiring excessive training resources. This work puts forth an RME approach that can effectively incorporate learned information without training over radio map data. Our idea is to employ the plug-and-play (PnP) denoising scheme from computational imaging. The PnP framework allows incorporating denoisers trained over natural images to handle other types of data, e.g., ocean sound fields and medical images, due to the similarity of their denoising processes. Conventional PnP methods mostly use the learned denoisers in the data domain. Instead, the proposed approach applies PnP in the latent domain through a tailored algorithm design and spatial-spectral factorization of radio maps. This way, the proposed RME method exhibits enhanced scalability and noise robustness. Simulations are used to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. © 2025 IEEE.

The association between drugs and side effects encompasses information about approved medications and their documented adverse drug reactions. Traditional experimental approaches for studying this association tend to be time consuming and expensive. To represent all drug-side-effect associations, a bipartite network framework is employed. Consequently, numerous computational methods have been devised to tackle this problem, focusing on predicting new potential associations. However, a significant gap lies in the neglect of the multiview learning algorithm, which has the ability to integrate diverse information sources and enhance prediction accuracy. In our study, we have developed a novel predictor named multiview semisupervised sparse model (Mv3SM) to address the drug side effect prediction problem. Our approach aims to explore the distinctive characteristics of various view features obtained from fully paired multiview data and mitigate the influence of noisy data. To test the performance of Mv3SM and other computational approaches, we conducted experiments using three benchmark datasets. The obtained results clearly demonstrate that our proposed method achieves superior predictive performance compared to alternative approaches. © 2023 IEEE.
