Vehicular network technology has made substantial advancements in recent years in the field of Intelligent Transportation Systems. Vehicular Cloud Computing (VCC) has emerged as a novel paradigm with a substantial increase in data exchange within Vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs). VCC integrates cloud computing, vehicular networking, and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. It enables Infrastructure-to-Vehicle (I2V), Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V), and Vehicle-to-Device (V2D) communication. VCC optimizes vehicle, cloud infrastructure, and IoT resources while addressing significant communication security and vehicle-user privacy challenges. To address these issues, we developed an RFID-based authentication protocol for VCC based on a Henon map using a hash function. In addition, we also incorporated a Physical Unclonable Function (PUF) to resist physical tampering attacks. We validate the protocol's security formally and informally. The formal security analysis is conducted through a widely used RoR model. We use the Scyther simulation tool to verify the proposed protocol's security against various attacks. Moreover, we compare the performance of our protocol with similar existing protocols across important performance parameters such as communication and computation overheads and security attributes. The proposed protocol yields substantial improvements, demonstrating a 40.74% reduction in computation overhead and a 13.03% decrease in communication overhead as compared to related protocols, delivering both enhanced performance and resource efficiency. The analysis demonstrates its capacity to support secure communication in the VCC environment and satisfy desirable security attributes. © 2024 IEEE.

Neural Machine Translation Models with Attention-Based Dropout Layer

In bilingual translation,attention-based Neural Machine Translation(NMT)models are used to achieve synchrony between input and output sequences and the notion of *** model has obtained state-of-the-art performance for several language ***,there has been little work exploring useful architectures for Urdu-to-English machine *** conducted extensive Urdu-to-English translation experiments using Long short-term memory(LSTM)/Bidirectional recurrent neural networks(Bi-RNN)/Statistical recurrent unit(SRU)/Gated recurrent unit(GRU)/Convolutional neural network(CNN)and *** results show that Bi-RNN and LSTM with attention mechanism trained iteratively,with a scalable data set,make precise predictions on unseen *** trained models yielded competitive results by achieving 62.6%and 61%accuracy and 49.67 and 47.14 BLEU scores,*** a qualitative perspective,the translation of the test sets was examined manually,and it was observed that trained models tend to produce repetitive output more *** attention score produced by Bi-RNN and LSTM produced clear alignment,while GRU showed incorrect translation for words,poor alignment and lack of a clear ***,we considered refining the attention-based models by defining an additional attention-based dropout *** dropout fixes alignment errors and minimizes translation errors at the word *** empirical demonstration and comparison with their counterparts,we found improvement in the quality of the resulting translation system and a decrease in the perplexity and over-translation *** ability of the proposed model was evaluated using Arabic-English and Persian-English datasets as *** empirically concluded that adding an attention-based dropout layer helps improve GRU,SRU,and Transformer translation and is considerably more efficient in translation quality and speed.

The performance and efficiency of running large-scale datasets on traditional computing systems exhibit critical bottlenecks due to the existing “power wall” and “memory wall” problems. To resolve those problems, processing-in-memory(PIM) architectures are developed to bring computation logic in or near memory to alleviate the bandwidth limitations during data transmission. NAND-like spintronics memory(NAND-SPIN) is one kind of promising magnetoresistive random-access memory(MRAM) with low write energy and high integration density, and it can be employed to perform efficient in-memory computation operations. In this study, we propose a NAND-SPIN-based PIM architecture for efficient convolutional neural network(CNN) acceleration. A straightforward data mapping scheme is exploited to improve parallelism while reducing data movements. Benefiting from the excellent characteristics of NAND-SPIN and in-memory processing architecture, experimental results show that the proposed approach can achieve ～2.6× speedup and ～1.4× improvement in energy efficiency over state-of-the-art PIM solutions.

This article proposes a technique to create a pothole detection system that can operate both during the day and at night. This model was developed using the real-time object identification YOLO (You Only Look Once) technique. The potholes are located using a pre-trained model with YOLO v5. In its creation, the PyTorch framework is utilized. The first YOLO model created using the PyTorch framework is YOLOv5, which is a lot more user-friendly and lightweight. In a manner similar to real-time object detection systems, the proposed method displays potholes in real time and emphasizes them with boundary boxes for accurate identification. The accuracy achieved with this method is 97% during the day and 92% at night which is found to be satisfactory. © 2023 IEEE.

data-driven business models imply the inter-organisational exchange of data or similar value objects. data science methods enable organisations to discover patterns and eventually knowledge from data. Further, by training machine learning models, knowledge is materialised in those models. Thus, organisations might risk the exposure of competitive knowledge by sharing data-related value objects, such as data, models or predictions. Although knowledge risks have been studied in traditional business models, little research has been conducted in the direction of data-driven business models. In this explorative qualitative study, we conducted 28 expert interviews in three rounds (two exploratory and one evaluatory) and identified five types of risks along the three basic types of value objects: data, models and predictions. These risks depend on the context, i.e., when competitive knowledge could be discovered from shared value objects. We found that those risks can be mitigated by technology, contractual regulations, trusted relationships, and adjusting the business model design. In this study, we show that the risk of knowledge leakage is a relevant risk factor in data-driven business models. Overall, knowledge risks should be considered already during business model design, and their management requires an interdisciplinary approach via a balanced assessment. The level of knowledge protection from a technology perspective highly depends on computer science innovations and thus is a moving target. As an outlook, we suggest that knowledge risk will become even more relevant with the extensive usage of machine learning and artificial intelligence in data-driven business models. © The Author(s) 2024.

This paper reviews three main aspects of authentication protocols of Internet of Things (IoT): classifications and limitations, current trends, and opportunities. First, we explore the significance of IoT authentication protocols in ensuring secure communication and the protection of transmitted and received data, focusing on the classifications and associated limitations. Second, we discuss the latest developments and trends, such as using blockchain technology and machine learning to enhance authentication protocols. Third, we highlight the future opportunities, including the development of human-centric authentication designs and improved platform interoperability. At the end of this paper, we provided some insights gained for the new researcher, offering analyses of the trends and challenges in this field, giving recommendations for improving IoT authentication protocols, and emphasizing the need for further research and cooperation to develop advanced security solutions. © 2016 IEEE.

Human life is challenged by this main work’s ultimate goal of reducing accidents and ensuring life safety due to the enormous growth of vehicles and those based on safety. Here, cases of suspected drunk driving, reckless driving, etc., are present. In this scenario, vehicles are traveling at full speed and irresponsibly using technology on all roads. An early warning system is used to stop auto accidents. In order to accommodate the city's steadily increasing automobile population, intelligent traffic systems must be designed in a resourceful and sustainable manner using all available technology in both light and dark. The advanced ML's work on unexpected traffic flow and all road conditions resulted in significant real-time changes in the flow of traffic for every significant issue that arose. Here, the Blue Whale technology makes use of clever intelligence to quickly identify, detect, and modify warning systems. The primary objective of the study was to train CNN/BWT on the collected data sets in order to operationalize the unsupervised approach for the prediction of critical situations. Additionally, it makes an effort to clarify the situation so that guests can feel more at ease and help them decide on transfers in time-sensitive situations. IOT is a practical way to locate the nearest object using machine learning methods that are accurate and apply received data sets, resulting in significant findings that support object recognition. The paperwork fully focuses on improving driving knowledge and offering new approaches for quick object recognition. The development of the industrial Internet of Things and smart grid networks has emphasized the importance of secure smart grid communication for the future of electric power transmission. However, the current deployment of smart meters and wireless communication methods presents several security concerns that must be addressed to ensure sustainable and resilient smart grid networks for Industry 5.0, with a focus on consumer-centric technologies. In this context, we propose a privacy-focused authentication solution for secure consumer-centric demand response management in smart grid networks, incorporating consumer electronics. Our proposed protocol utilizes blockchain-based authentication to enhance resistance against potential attacks and ensure the integrity of demand response data. Additionally, we have incorporated a PUF to prevent physical attacks. We have conducted informal and formal security analyses to verify the effectiveness of our proposed protocol against various threats and to confirm the session key security. Our comparison study has demonstrated that our protocol provides superior security and added functionalities, with lower computation and communication costs compared to similar protocols. Furthermore, we have measured the computational time for implementing the blockchain component of our protocol while considering the impact of varying numbers of block additions and transactions per block. © 1975-2011 IEEE.
