Graph similarity computation is a critical task in various fields, including bioinformatics, social network analysis, and pattern recognition. Traditional methods, such as Graph Edit Distance, face challenges in computational complexity and accuracy. In this paper, we propose IASim, a method for computing graph similarity with information enhancement, leveraging Graph Neural Networks to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of graph similarity computation. IASim incorporates edge information and multi-level node information into the graph embedding process, utilizing a multi-layer neural tensor network architecture and a novel attention mechanism to capture the intricate relationships between nodes and edges. Our experiments on three diverse real datasets demonstrate that IASim outperforms existing methods in both accuracy and computational efficiency, exhibiting outstanding robustness and stability across a range of embedding dimensions. IASim emerges as a promising tool for a variety of applications demanding graph similarity computations. © 2024 IEEE.

Heart disease prediction remains a critical area of research due to its significant impact on public health. This paper, titled 'Improving Heart Disease Prediction with Stacked Ensemble Learning: A Comparison of Binary and Multiclass,' presents a comprehensive study comparing the performance of binary and multiclass classification models for heart disease prediction. Utilizing two distinct datasets, one for binary classification and one for multiclass classification. The study evaluates various machine learning and deep learning models, with a focus on stacked ensemble methods. The Binary Classification Results leveraging the Preprocessing-and-PCA-on-Heart-Disease-dataset, the study evaluated several models including Random Forest, Support Vector Machine (SVM), XGBoost, Gradient Boosting, Deep Learning model, and Logistic Regression. The results indicate that the Stacking Ensemble model achieved the highest accuracy of 90.2%, outperforming individual models where Random Forest (88.5%), SVM (89.1%), XGBoost (89.7%), Gradient Boosting (88.0%) and Deep Learning (89.1%). The Multiclass Classification study using the UCI Heart Disease dataset, when applied the same models, the Stacking Ensemble model achieved an accuracy of 64.1%, which, although superior to other individual models such as Random Forest (58.1%), SVM (54.3%), Gradient Boosting (59.2%) and Deep Learning model (57.6%) fell short compared to XGBoost, which attained an accuracy of 65.8%. This outcome highlights the challenges associated with multiclass classification in heart disease prediction. © 2024 IEEE.

data augmentation plays an important role in training deep neural model by expanding the size and diversity of the ***,data augmentation mainly involved some simple transformations of ***,in order to increase the diversity and complexity of data,more advanced methods appeared and evolved to sophisticated generative ***,these methods required a mass of computation of training or *** this paper,a novel training-free method that utilises the Pre-Trained Segment Anything Model(SAM)model as a data augmentation tool(PTSAM-DA)is proposed to generate the augmented annotations for *** the need for training,it obtains prompt boxes from the original annotations and then feeds the boxes to the pre-trained SAM to generate diverse and improved *** this way,annotations are augmented more ingenious than simple manipulations without incurring huge computation for training a data augmentation *** comparative experiments on three datasets are conducted,including an in-house dataset,ADE20K and *** this in-house dataset,namely Agricultural Plot Segmentation dataset,maximum improvements of 3.77%and 8.92%are gained in two mainstream metrics,mIoU and mAcc,***,large vision models like SAM are proven to be promising not only in image segmentation but also in data augmentation.

The rise of smart cities is directly connected to the increasing use of vehicles. The growing vehicle utilization has driven the emergence of Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs), facilitating instant information exchange among vehicles. The system provides essential information regarding road conditions, traffic patterns, and more relevant data. VANETs encompass two fundamental categories of communication exchanges, namely Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I). V2I technology facilitates the integration of cars and transportation infrastructure, enabling effective communication between vehicles and infrastructure. Nevertheless, the potential of V2I communication has various security concerns arising from prevalent security threats. Current authentication techniques encounter challenges regarding complexity, security, and privacy considerations. We designed a hash-based lightweight and anonymous authentication scheme to address the aforementioned restrictions and enhance the effectiveness of authentication in V2I architecture. This scheme effectively combines identity, password, and bio-metric to enhance resistance against impersonation, denial of service, and privileged insider attacks. The devised scheme distinguishes itself by a comparative analysis and security proofs, highlighting its superior capability in guaranteeing secure authentication in V2I communication. The comprehensive security analysis conducted formally and informally showcases the robustness of the proposed solution against several threats. The performance evaluation results show that our scheme demonstrates a decrease in the computational cost of 51.40% approximately and a reduction in communication overhead of around 22.57%. These results establish the efficiency and scalability of the proposed scheme as a viable solution for V2I architecture. © 2000-2011 IEEE.

The power optimization of mixed polarity Reed–Muller(MPRM)logic circuits is a classic combinatorial optimization *** optimization approaches often suffer from slow convergence and a propensity to converge to local optima,limiting their effectiveness in achieving optimal power ***,we propose a novel multi-strategy fusion memetic algorithm(MFMA).MFMA integrates global exploration via the chimp optimization algorithm with local exploration using the coati optimization algorithm based on the optimal position learning and adaptive weight factor(COA-OLA),complemented by population management through truncation ***,leveraging MFMA,we propose a power optimization approach for MPRM logic circuits that searches for the best polarity configuration to minimize circuit *** results based on Microelectronics Center of North Carolina(MCNC)benchmark circuits demonstrate significant improvements over existing power optimization *** achieves a maximum power saving rate of 72.30%and an average optimization rate of 43.37%;it searches for solutions faster and with higher quality,validating its effectiveness and superiority in power optimization.

BAHBench: A Unified Benchmark for Evaluating Bio-Acoustic Health with Acoustic Foundation Models

Acoustic foundation models, through self-supervised learning on large amounts of unlabeled speech data, can acquire rich acoustic representations. In recent years, these models have demonstrated substantial potential in audio-based health-related tasks, remarkably enhancing the efficiency and quality of healthcare services and contributing to the advancement of smart healthcare. However, there is currently a lack of systematic research and exploration on the performance of acoustic foundation models in health-related tasks. Furthermore, inconsistencies in evaluation methods and experimental setups hinder fair comparisons between different methods, severely impeding progress in this field. To address these challenges, we establish a unified Benchmark for evaluating Bio-Acoustic health via acoustic foundation models, namely BAHBench. BAHBench encompasses 6 distinct health-related tasks and evaluates 12 acoustic foundation models within a unified evaluation framework and parameter settings, enabling fair comparisons across different models. Our objective is to explore the effectiveness of current acoustic foundation models in health-related tasks. Thus, we discuss the impact of model size and data diversity on performance, and investigate feature selection and efficient fine-tuning strategy. Experimental results show that different health-related tasks benefit from features from different layers of the foundation model, while LoRA fine-tuning further enhances the model's performance on downstream tasks. Our goal is to provide clear and comprehensive guidance for future researchers. The code related to this study will be available to the research community to promote transparency and reproducibility. © 2013 IEEE.

Surgical resection is one of the main treatment options for brain tumors. However, there is a risk of postoperative cognitive deterioration associated with resective surgery. Recent studies suggest that pre-surgery brain dynamics captured using functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) could provide valuable information about the risk of post-surgery cognitive decline. However, most of these studies are based on simple regression analysis of the raw fMRI signals that do not capture the underlying complex brain dynamics. Here, we investigated the role of higher-order functional brain networks in predicting cognitive decline after surgical resection of brain tumors. More specifically, we looked at the predictive power of second-order functional brain networks in estimating post-surgery working memory (WM) performance. Our results show that the second-order functional brain networks can accurately predict the working memory decline in patients with glioma and meningioma tumors. These findings suggest that there is an interesting relationship between pre-surgical higher-order brain dynamics and the risk of cognitive decline after surgery, which could potentially yield a better prognostic marker for treatment planning of brain tumor patients. © 2024 IEEE.

Temporal-Aware Deep Reinforcement Learning for Energy Storage Bidding in Energy and Contingency Reserve Markets

The battery energy storage system (BESS) has immense potential for enhancing grid reliability and security through its participation in the electricity market. BESS often seeks various revenue streams by taking part in multiple markets to unlock its full potential, but effective algorithms for joint-market participation under price uncertainties are insufficiently explored in the existing research. To bridge this gap, we develop a novel BESS joint bidding strategy that utilizes deep reinforcement learning (DRL) to bid in the spot and contingency frequency control ancillary services (FCAS) markets. Our approach leverages a transformer-based temporal feature extractor to effectively respond to price fluctuations in seven markets simultaneously and helps DRL learn the best BESS bidding strategy in joint-market participation. Additionally, unlike conventional 'black-box' DRL model, our approach is more interpretable and provides valuable insights into the temporal bidding behavior of BESS in the dynamic electricity market. We validate our method using realistic market prices from the Australian National Electricity Market. The results show that our strategy outperforms benchmarks, including both optimization-based and other DRL-based strategies, by substantial margins. Our findings further suggest that effective temporal-aware bidding can significantly increase profits in the spot and contingency FCAS markets compared to individual market participation. © 2023 IEEE.

Space/air communications have been envisioned as an essential part of the next-generation mobile communication networks for providing highquality global connectivity. However, the inherent broadcasting nature of wireless propagation environment and the broad coverage pose severe threats to the protection of private data. Emerging covert communications provides a promising solution to achieve robust communication security. Aiming at facilitating the practical implementation of covert communications in space/air networks, we present a tutorial overview of its potentials, scenarios, and key technologies. Specifically, first, the commonly used covertness constraint model, covert performance metrics, and potential application scenarios are briefly introduced. Then, several efficient methods that introduce uncertainty into the covert system are thoroughly summarized, followed by several critical enabling technologies, including joint resource allocation and deployment/trajectory design, multi-antenna and beamforming techniques, reconfigurable intelligent surface(RIS), and artificial intelligence algorithms. Finally, we highlight some open issues for future investigation.

Hardware-friendly rate estimation algorithm and architecture design for AVS3

To enhance the capabilities of advanced video coding for emerging applications, the AVS3 standard has been introduced to double the coding efficiency compared to its predecessor, the AVS2 standard. It incorporates sophisticated coding tools, such as advanced rate-distortion optimization (RDO), to select the optimal coding mode. The AVS3 standard further refines bit rate compression through Advanced Entropy Coding (AEC) within the RDO process. However, AEC demands significant computational resources due to its high data dependency and involves complex steps like binarization, context modeling, interval subdivision, renormalization, handling of outstanding bits, and context updating. Notably, the time complexity of AEC is predominantly due to context updating and interval subdivision, which are recursive and thus pose challenges for real-time applications, particularly in hardware implementations. Addressing these challenges, this paper introduces an adaptive rate estimation algorithm using a hardware-friendly piece-wise linear function to expedite bit rate calculations for AVS3 applications. Initially, we develop a linear rate estimation method based on the statistics of bin numbers. To preserve high coding performance, we further propose an adaptive model parameter updating method that adjusts weights dynamically based on varying video content. Building on this fast rate estimation algorithm, we propose a high-throughput hardware architecture that incorporates pipelining and parallelization to meet the stringent real-time requirements for 4K@120fps ultra-high-definition video at 200 MHz, with only a minimal increase in BD-rate by 1.06% under the All-Intra (AI) configuration. To our knowledge, this is the pioneering study focusing on hardware-oriented rate estimation for the AVS3 standard, marking a significant advancement in the field of video coding technology. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature
