The fluid sampler inliSAMP is being developed for remote controlled downhole sampling in deep geothermal boreholes. inliSAMP is designed based on the system platform for downhole tools hotToolKIT. It is a follow-up development to the inliCAM. Thus, both probes are built up from modular components of the construction kit. A new sampling and storage concept is developed and realized in a functional demonstrator (sampling volume 480 cm3). The sampling process was tested and proven to work under laboratory conditions up to 90 bars. The demonstrator sampling system is remotely controlled via wireline using real time data. Temperature, pressure in different locations of the sample chamber, and electronic components are permanently monitored and recorded. In the design, most electronic components such as a highly efficient power supply, motor drivers and control units are placed inside a supply probe Dewar flask. The in-situ storage of the monophasic sample is being realized by an adaptive hydraulic and heating control system. The hydraulic components are developed for high dynamic loads and small installation spaces. Furthermore, the functional demonstrator fulfils the requirements of the design standard downhole logging tools (T = 200 °C, p = 60 MPa, harsh and corrosive fluids). Currently, the mechanic units such as the sample chamber, sensors, and hydraulic power pack are mounted on a socket in a demonstrator housing and are tested under realistic conditions on a test rig at the Karlsruhe institute of technology (KIT) in preparation for a borehole deployment. The functional tests of the sample procedure include descent of the probe, the sample intake, maintenance of sample temperature, and dispensing at changing ambient temperatures on a test rig. High Resolution Solar Image Generation Using Generative Adversarial Networks

We applied Deep Learning algorithm known as Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) to perform solar image-to-image translation. That is, from Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO)/Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI) line of sight magnetogram images to SDO/Atmospheric Imaging Assembly (AIA) 0304-Å images. The Ultraviolet (UV)/Extreme Ultraviolet observations like the SDO/AIA 0304-Å images were only made available to scientists in the late 1990s even though the magnetic field observations like the SDO/HMI have been available since the 1970s. Therefore, by leveraging Deep Learning algorithms like GANs we can give scientists access to complete datasets for analysis. For generating high resolution solar images, we use the Pix2PixHD and Pix2Pix algorithms. The Pix2PixHD algorithm was specifically designed for high resolution image generation tasks, and the Pix2Pix algorithm is by far the most widely used image to image translation algorithm. For training and testing we used the data for the year 2012, 2013 and 2014. After model training, we evaluated the model on the test data. The results show that our deep learning models are capable of generating high resolution (1024 × 1024 pixels) SDO/AIA0304 images from SDO/HMI line of sight magnetograms. Specifically, the pixel-to-pixel Pearson Correlation Coefficient of the images generated by Pix2PixHD and original images is as high as 0.99. The number is 0.962 if Pix2Pix is used to generate images. The results we get for our Pix2PixHD model is better than the results obtained by previous works done by others to generate SDO/AIA 0304 images. Thus, we can use these models to generate AIA0304 images when the AIA0304 data is not available which can be used for understanding space weather and giving researchers the capability to predict solar events such as Solar Flares and Coronal Mass Ejections. This study addresses the challenge of quantifying chess puzzle difficulty - a complex task that combines elements of game theory and human cognition and underscores its critical role in effective chess training. We present GlickFormer, a novel transformer-based architecture that predicts chess puzzle difficulty by approximating the Glicko-2 rating system. Unlike conventional chess engines that optimize for game outcomes, GlickFormer models human perception of tactical patterns and problem-solving *** proposed model utilizes a modified ChessFormer backbone for spatial feature extraction and incorporates temporal information via factorized transformer techniques. This approach enables the capture of both spatial chess piece arrangements and move sequences, effectively modeling spatio-temporal relationships relevant to difficulty *** evaluation was conducted on a dataset of over 4 million chess puzzles. Results demonstrate GlickFormer's superior performance compared to the state-of-the-art ChessFormer baseline across multiple metrics. The algorithm's performance has also been recognized through its competitive results in the IEEE BigData 2024 Cup: Predicting Chess Puzzle Difficulty competition, where it placed *** insights gained from this study have implications for personalized chess training and broader applications in educational technology and cognitive modeling. © 2024 IEEE.

In the context of the digital age, online public opinion has rapidly emerged as a key manifestation of social sentiment. The spread of campus public opinion is primarily through the internet, characterized by high attention, rapid dissemination, and a special group, which can easily lead to secondary social consequences and has a profound impact on school management, student mental health, and the formulation of educational policies. This requires school administrators to be able to capture and effectively analyze public opinion dynamics in a timely manner to make appropriate responses. However, in the face of massive amounts of public opinion data, traditional monitoring and management methods are no longer sufficient. This paper proposes a campus public opinion registration and management system based on the Knuth-Morris-Pratt (KMP) algorithm, aiming to improve the efficiency and accuracy of public opinion monitoring. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Investigating the effects of embodiment on presence and perception in remote physician video consultations: a between-participants study comparing a tablet and a telepresence robot

Increasing life expectancy and low birth rates have led to a larger aging population requiring more care, especially in rural areas. Information and communications technology may enhance older adults' quality of life and digital health services. Assistive robotic systems, especially telepresence robots, are increasingly used in healthcare. These robots represent a significantly higher embodiment level than tablets, as they can provide the remote person with an additional body. This work explores the effects of different embodiment levels in video consultation, focusing on Presence and Perception from a Human-computer Interaction (HCI) perspective. For this purpose, between-participants experiments were conducted in which 18 participants assumed the role of the patient and engaged in a video consultation with a remote, medically experienced person acting as the physician. A shortened medical check-up simulated the real assessment. Qualitative and quantitative data were collected during and after the experiment focusing on presence and interaction. Results show no significant influence of embodiment level in a video consultation from a HCI perspective. However, a trend towards more natural communication with stronger embodiment was observed, suggesting it may positively influence interaction. © 2025 the author(s), published by De Gruyter, Berlin/Boston.

L10-FePt-type bit-patterned media has provided a promising alternative for ultrahigh-density magnetic recording systems in the current digital era, but rapid fabrication of magnetic patterns with hyperfine bit islands is still challenging, especially with the target for miniaturization and scalable production simultaneously. Herein, Fe,Pt-containing block copolymers were utilized as single-source precursors for solution-processable patterning and subsequent generation of the demanding magnetic FePt dots by in situ pyrolysis. High-throughput nanoimprint lithography was initially employed to fabricate the predefined bit cells precisely,and then the intrinsic self-assembly of phase-separated block copolymers further drove the formation of accurate bit *** from the synergistic effect of top-down lithographic approach and bottom-up self-assembly, the customizable patterns could be achieved for large-scale mass production in targeted areas, but high-density isolated dots could also be accurately aligned along the patterned features after subsequent self-assembly. This reliable strategy would provide a good avenue to precisely construct ultrahigh-density magnetic data storage devices.

In today's digital era, the use of data is becoming more day by day. Data is serving as a main source for all the applications we rely on. As the volume of data rapidly increases, the need for security also increases in the same phase. This brings the need for securing the data in a more effective manner. The need to protect sensitive data is underscored by the increasing intricacy of cyberattacks and the expansion of virtual commerce. It is imperative to rely on several legal and regulatory requirements for the need for data security. The failure to do so may result in severe penalties. In order to maintain trust in digital interactions, data security during transmission and storage is becoming more important as the world gets smaller. If the data is not secured in an effective manner, the growth of the companies and several other technologies may collapse and result in higher threats to the world. Both firms and governments are required to preserve intellectual property and information related to national security. The availability, confidentiality, and integrity of data are critical for sustaining innovation, trust, and business continuity. This project focusses on the two-level authentication of the system where the users are allowed to store the sensitive data. The first level authentication is provided using OAuth where it is a single sign on mechanism which is advantageous to the users to access it easily. The second level authentication is provided using the encryption technique where the Advanced Encryption Standard is used along with the creative usage of user-generated patterns as a hidden layer in the encryption process. Here a symmetric key is used for the encryption to make it more secure. The two-level authentication brings high level security for the stored data. © 2024 IEEE.
