Modern data centers’ providers are gradually moving away from traditional and multi-vendor IT infrastructures to open, standardized and interchangeable solutions that are based on a software defined approach to managing data center resources. The authors analyze the architectural features, requirements, limitations, hardware and software of hyperconverged infrastructures and their advantages in comparison with traditional and converged architectures deployed in data centers. The authors propose to employ two-level coordination schema to manage compute, storage, network and virtualization subsystems of hyperconverged infrastructure along with the self-management algorithms inside these subsystems. © Springer International Publishing AG, part of Springer Nature 2019.

—We study how to secure distributed filters for linear time-invariant systems with bounded noise under false-data injection attacks. A malicious attacker is able to arbitrarily manipulate the observations for a time-varying and unknown subset of the sensors. We first propose a recursive distributed filter consisting of two steps at each update. The first step employs a saturation-like scheme, which gives a small gain if the innovation is large corresponding to a potential attack. The second step is a consensus operation of state estimates among neighboring sensors. We prove the estimation error is upper bounded if the filter parameters satisfy a condition. We further analyze the feasibility of the condition and connect it to sparse observability in the centralized case. When the attacked sensor set is known to be time-invariant, the secured filter is modified by adding an online local attack detector. The detector is able to identify the attacked sensors whose observation innovations are larger than the detection thresholds. Also, with more attacked sensors being detected, the thresholds will adaptively adjust to reduce the space of the stealthy attack signals. The resilience of the secured filter with detection is verified by an explicit relationship between the upper bound of the estimation error and the number of detected attacked sensors. Moreover, for the noise-free case, we prove that the state estimate of each sensor asymptotically converges to the system state under certain conditions. Stacked BNAS: Rethinking Broad Convolutional Neural Network for Neural Architecture Search

Different from other deep scalable architecture-based NAS approaches, Broad Neural Architecture Search (BNAS) proposes a broad scalable architecture which consists of convolution and enhancement blocks, dubbed Broad Convolutional Neural Network (BCNN), as the search space for amazing efficiency improvement. BCNN reuses the topologies of cells in the convolution block so that BNAS can employ few cells for efficient search. Moreover, multi-scale feature fusion and knowledge embedding are proposed to improve the performance of BCNN with shallow topology. However, BNAS suffers some drawbacks: 1) insufficient representation diversity for feature fusion and enhancement and 2) time consumption of knowledge embedding design by human experts. This paper proposes Stacked BNAS, whose search space is a developed broad scalable architecture named Stacked BCNN, with better performance than BNAS. On the one hand, Stacked BCNN treats mini BCNN as a basic block to preserve comprehensive representation and deliver powerful feature extraction ability. For multi-scale feature enhancement, each mini BCNN feeds the outputs of deep and broad cells to the enhancement cell. For multi-scale feature fusion, each mini BCNN feeds the outputs of deep, broad and enhancement cells to the output node. On the other hand, Knowledge Embedding Search (KES) is proposed to learn appropriate knowledge embeddings in a differentiable way. Moreover, the basic unit of KES is an over-parameterized knowledge embedding module that consists of all possible candidate knowledge embeddings. Experimental results show that 1) Stacked BNAS obtains better performance than BNAS-v2 on both CIFAR-10 and ImageNet, 2) the proposed KES algorithm contributes to reducing the parameters of the learned architecture with satisfactory performance, and 3) Stacked BNAS delivers a state-of-the-art efficiency of 0.02 GPU days. Domain adaptation has been a fundamental technology for transferring knowledge from a source domain to a target domain. The key issue of domain adaptation is how to reduce the distribution discrepancy between two domains in a proper way such that they can be treated indifferently for learning. Different from existing methods that make label prediction for target samples independently, in this paper, we propose a novel domain adaptation approach that assigns pseudo-labels to target data with the guidance of class centroids in two domains, so that the data distribution structure of both source and target domains can be emphasized. Besides, to explore the structure information of target data more thoroughly, we further introduce a local connectivity self-learning strategy into our proposal to adaptively capture the inherent local manifold structure of target samples. The aforementioned class centroid matching and local manifold self-learning are integrated into one joint optimization problem and an iterative optimization algorithm is designed to solve it with theoretical convergence guarantee. In addition to unsupervised domain adaptation, we further extend our method to the semi-supervised scenario including both homogeneous and heterogeneous settings in a direct but elegant way. Extensive experiments on five benchmark datasets validate the significant superiority of our proposal in both unsupervised and semi-supervised manners. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. To make full use of the residual audible frequency band of hearing-loss patients and improve the intelligibility of speech,an adaptive nonlinear frequency compression(NFC)algorithm is proposed,which amplifies signals below the cutoff frequency while compresses signals above the cutoff ***,high-frequency signals are decomposed to critical band signals according to the BARK ***,the global compression ratio is determined according to the patient's cutoff frequency and maximum audible ***,the sub-band compression ratio is adaptively determined based on the global compression ratio and normalized average energy of subband ***,the high frequency signals are transposed to low frequency bands by compression mapping,and the phases are adjusted to the same as the original low frequency *** results of speech intelligibility with nine subjects demonstrate that compared to conventional amplitude amplification and nonlinear frequency compression algorithms the proposed algorithm significantly improves the intelligibility of initials and sentences,while not affects the intelligibility of finals and tones significantly.

This paper presents SmartPV-AIoT, a cost-effective and edge-computing-based framework for real-time fault detection and environmental monitoring in photovoltaic (PV) systems. Addressing the challenges faced in remote or intermittently connected environments, the proposed system integrates electrical and environmental sensor data using a Raspberry Pi 4 and NodeMCU microcontroller. A lightweight Res-BiLSTM model, combining residual learning and bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM) layers, is deployed at the edge to perform local fault classification by analyzing seven key parameters derived from I to V curve measurements and ambient conditions. Additionally, the framework employs multi-sensor data fusion by integrating voltage, current, irradiance, and temperature measurements to support comprehensive fault detection and predictive maintenance. The framework was validated on a 4.56  kW PV installation using a dataset of 2400 labeled samples representing normal operation, open-circuit, short-circuit, and partial shading conditions. The classifier achieved a fault detection accuracy of 96.67 %, with a maximum inference latency of 290  ms and low power overhead, making it suitable for real-time, on-site diagnostics. The system supports offline operation with automatic data synchronization upon connectivity restoration and includes mobile-based monitoring for remote accessibility. The proposed framework is designed for modular deployment and scales linearly with array size. Overall, SmartPV-AIoT offers a scalable, resilient, and practical solution for intelligent PV monitoring, particularly in resource-constrained or off-grid environments.

These days' smart buildings have high intensive information and massive operational parameters, not only extensive power consumption. With the development of computation capability and future 5 G, the ACP theory(i.e., artificial systems,computational experiments, and parallel computing) will play a much more crucial role in modeling and control of complex systems like commercial and academic buildings. The necessity of making accurate predictions of energy consumption out of a large number of operational parameters has become a crucial problem in smart buildings. Previous attempts have been made to seek energy consumption predictions based on historical data in buildings. However, there are still questions about parallel building consumption prediction mechanism using a large number of operational parameters. This article proposes a novel hybrid deep learning prediction approach that utilizes long short-term memory as an encoder and gated recurrent unit as a decoder in conjunction with ACP theory. The proposed approach is tested and validated by real-world dataset, and the results outperformed traditional predictive models compared in this paper.

Robust Locality-Aware Regression for Labeled Data Classification

With the dramatic increase of dimensions in the data representation, extracting latent low-dimensional features becomes of the utmost importance for efficient classification. Aiming at the problems of unclear margin representation and difficulty in revealing the data manifold structure in most of the existing linear discriminant methods, we propose a new discriminant feature extraction framework, namely Robust Locality-Aware Regression (RLAR). In our model, we introduce a retargeted regression to perform the marginal representation learning adaptively instead of using the general average inter-class margin. Besides, we formulate a new strategy for enhancing the local intra-class compactness of the data manifold, which can achieve the joint learning of locality-aware graph structure and desirable projection matrix. To alleviate the disturbance of outliers and prevent overfitting, we measure the regression term and locality-aware term together with the regularization term by the L2,1 norm. Further, forcing the row sparsity on the projection matrix through the L2,1 norm achieves the cooperation of feature selection and feature extraction. Then, we derive an effective iterative algorithm for solving the proposed model. The experimental results over a range of UCI data sets and other benchmark databases demonstrate that the proposed RLAR outperforms some state-of-the-art approaches. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. Learning Hidden Markov Models for Linear Gaussian Systems with Applications to Event-based State Estimation

This work attempts to approximate a linear Gaussian system with a finite-state hidden Markov model (HMM), which is found useful in solving sophisticated event-based state estimation problems. An indirect modeling approach is developed, wherein a state space model (SSM) is firstly identified for a Gaussian system and the SSM is then used as an emulator for learning an HMM. In the proposed method, the training data for the HMM are obtained from the data generated by the SSM through building a quantization mapping. Parameter learning algorithms are designed to learn the parameters of the HMM, through exploiting the periodical structural characteristics of the HMM. The convergence and asymptotic properties of the proposed algorithms are analyzed. The HMM learned using the proposed algorithms is applied to event-triggered state estimation, and numerical results on model learning and state estimation demonstrate the validity of the proposed algorithms.
