Geomechanical terms of use of the mill tailings for preparation

Geomechanical conditions of use of the utilized tails of enrichment of metallic mineral raw materials as the hardening stowage mix are proved. The grounds for the geomechanical balance control of the mountain mass preserving the Earth's surface by way of dividing it into safe areas according to their stress rate are indicated. The model of defining the economic and ecological efficiency of the technology using recycled processing tailings is suggested. © Metallurgical and Mining Industry, 2015.

Differential spatial modulation (DSM) is a newly proposed differential modulation technique tailored to spatial modulation (SM), which requires no channel state information (CSI) at the receiver. DSM can offer flexible tradeoff between the reception reliability and the system complexity. In this paper, we are the first to study the adoption of DSM in a dual-hop amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying system, which consists of a two-antenna source, a single-antenna relay, and a single-antenna destination, so as to reduce the burden of channel tracking on both the relay and the destination. We derive a general upper bound on the average bit error probability (ABEP) achieved by the system. Moreover, an exact closed-form ABEP expression and the asymptotic result are provided for BPSK signaling in Rayleigh fading environment. The same system setup with the adoption of SM at the source is chosen as a benchmark for performance comparisons. Simulation results validate the analysis and reveal a 3dB signal-to-noise power ratio (SNR) penalty of the considered system compared with the benchmark.

Characteristic of the problem of lost ore production is given. The results of usage of metal-cable, wood-cable and cable-stayed load-bearing and transecting canopies in ore mine practice are given. Parameters of construction of continuous load-bearing ferroconcrete ceiling are presented in details. The conclusion that lost ore production increases raw material base and restores the health of the economy of mining enterprises is made. © Metallurgical and Mining Industry, 2015.

We consider the event-triggered state estimation of a finite-state hidden Markov model with a general stochastic event-triggering condition. Utilizing the change of probability measure approach and the event-triggered measurement information available to the estimator, analytical expressions for the conditional probability distributions of the states are obtained, based on which the minimum mean square error event-based state estimates are further calculated. We show that the results also cover the case of packet dropout, under a special parameterization of the event-triggering conditions. With the results on state estimation, a closed-form expression of the average sensor-to-estimator communication rate is also presented. The effectiveness of the proposed results is illustrated by a numerical example and comparative simulations.

Human hand is crucial to the activity of daily living. To improve amputees' quality of life (QOL), it is imperative to propose a new method for the prosthesis hand to recognize hand motions. According to previous researches, multi-sensor can obtain more information with limited sensors for improving the classification accuracy rate. Therefore, this paper proposed a hierarchical hand motions recognition method based on one inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensor and two surface electromyography (sEMG) sensors. We dealt with two types of signals separately to classified six predefined hand motions in a hierarchical structure. The method utilized SVM classifier for EMG signals and a decision-tree classifier for IMU signals. To verify the feasibility of the hierarchical hand motion recognition method, ten subjects were asked to join the experiment. And experimental results show that proposed method is stable and the overall average accuracy rate is 95.6% The combination of sEMG and IMU signals can be used for prosthetic user interface applications.

In this paper we consider optimal parameter estimation with a constrained packet transmission rate. Due to the limited battery power and the traffic congestion over a large sensor network, each sensor is required to discard some packets and save transmission times. We propose a packet-driven sensor scheduling policy such that the sensor transmits only the important measurements to the estimator. Unlike the existing deterministic scheduler in [1], our stochastic packet scheduling is novelly designed to maintain the computational simplicity of the resulting maximum-likelihood estimator (MLE). This results in a nice feature that the MLE is still able to be recursively computed in a closed form, and the Cramer-Rao lower bound (CRLB) can be explicitly evaluated. Moreover, an optimization problem is formulated and solved to obtain the optimal parameters of the scheduling policy under which the estimation performance is comparable to the standard MLE (with full measurements) even with a moderate transmission rate. Numerical simulations are included to show the effectiveness.

Peer-to-peer (P2P) systems are used by millions of users everyday. In many scenarios, it is desirable for the users from different P2P systems to communicate and exchange content resources with each other. This requires co-operation between the P2P systems, which is often difficult or impossible, due to the two following reasons. First, we have the lack of a dedicated routing infrastructure throughout these systems, caused by the incompatibilities in overlay networks on top of which they are built. Second, there are incompatibilities in the application protocols of these systems. In this paper, we introduce a new model for backward-compatible co-operation between heterogeneous P2P systems. The routing across systems is enabled by introducing a super-overlay formed by a small subset of peers from every system, which run an overlay protocol called OGP (Overlay Gateway Protocol). The incompatibilities in the application protocols are solved by a co-operation application, running on top of OGP, bridging these systems at interface level. As a real application, we present a protocol named Inter-network File-sharing Protocol (IFP), running on top of OGP, aimed at co-operation of P2P file-sharing networks. The experimental results performed on the large-scale Grid5000 platform show our model to be efficient and scalable. © 2014 Springer-Verlag.

The rapid development of vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2X) communications calls for highly spectral efficient communication techniques under time-selective channels. Spatial modulation (SM) facilitates flexible trade-off between spectral and energy efficiency. In this paper, we propose a novel modulation technique based on SM for V2X, which discards the requirement of channel state information (CSI) at the receiver and exhibits enhanced robustness against time-selective fading and Doppler effects. Our proposed scheme tailors differential modulation to SM and is named differential spatial modulation (DSM). Monte Carlo simulations are carried out to demonstrate the advantage of the new scheme in terms of bit error rate (BER) performance for both point-to-point and dual-hop amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying systems in V2X channels.
