Oral cancer remains a critical global health challenge, characterized by high morbidity and mortality due to late-stage diagnosis. This paper addresses the need for improved diagnostic accuracy by introducing a novel hybrid-attention aided deep learning model for oral cancer classification. Our approach integrates the EfficientNetB0 model for feature extraction with a customized hybrid attention module, combining self, spatial, and soft attention mechanisms to emphasize crucial features. The model has been trained and evaluated on both microscopic and macroscopic oral cancer datasets, demonstrating its generalizability. Our proposed model achieves an accuracy of 96.97% on a macroscopic dataset and 92% on a microscopic dataset, with respective F1-scores of 0.97 and 0.89, outperforming baseline models. This hybrid attention-aided deep learning model shows significant potential in improving early detection and treatment planning of oral cancer. TreeSwap: Data Augmentation for Machine Translation via Dependency Subtree Swapping

Data augmentation methods for neural machine translation are particularly useful when limited amount of training data is available, which is often the case when dealing with low-resource languages. We introduce a novel augmentation method, which generates new sentences by swapping objects and subjects across bisentences. This is performed simultaneously based on the dependency parse trees of the source and target sentences. We name this method TreeSwap. Our results show that TreeSwap achieves consistent improvements over baseline models in 4 language pairs in both directions on resource-constrained datasets. We also explore domain-specific corpora, but find that our method does not make significant improvements on law, medical and IT data. We report the scores of similar augmentation methods and find that TreeSwap performs comparably. We also analyze the generated sentences qualitatively and find that the augmentation produces a correct translation in most cases. Our code is available on Github. © 2023, CC BY.

GraspMamba: A Mamba-based Language-driven Grasp Detection Framework with Hierarchical Feature Learning

Grasp detection is a fundamental robotic task critical to the success of many industrial applications. However, current language-driven models for this task often struggle with cluttered images, lengthy textual descriptions, or slow inference speed. We introduce GraspMamba, a new language-driven grasp detection method that employs hierarchical feature fusion with Mamba vision to tackle these challenges. By leveraging rich visual features of the Mamba-based backbone alongside textual information, our approach effectively enhances the fusion of multimodal features. GraspMamba represents the first Mamba-based grasp detection model to extract vision and language features at multiple scales, delivering robust performance and rapid inference time. Intensive experiments show that GraspMamba outperforms recent methods by a clear margin. We validate our approach through real-world robotic experiments, highlighting its fast inference speed. © 2024, CC BY.

In the era of big data,there is an urgent need to establish data trading markets for effectively releasing the tremendous value of the drastically explosive *** security and data pricing,however,are still widely regarded as major challenges in this respect,which motivate this research on the novel multi-blockchain based framework for data trading markets and their associated pricing *** this context,data recording and trading are conducted separately within two separate blockchains:the data blockchain(DChain) and the value blockchain(VChain).This enables the establishment of two-layer data trading markets to manage initial data trading in the primary market and subsequent data resales in the secondary ***,pricing mechanisms are then proposed to protect these markets against strategic trading behaviors and balance the payoffs of both suppliers and ***,in regular data trading on VChain-S2D,two auction models are employed according to the demand scale,for dealing with users’ strategic *** incentive-compatible Vickrey-Clarke-Groves(VCG)model is deployed to the low-demand trading scenario,while the nearly incentive-compatible monopolistic price(MP) model is utilized for the high-demand trading *** temporary data trading on VChain-D2S,a reverse auction mechanism namely two-stage obscure selection(TSOS) is designed to regulate both suppliers’ quoting and users’ valuation ***,experiments are carried out to demonstrate the strength of this research in enhancing data security and trading efficiency.

This paper investigates the anomaly-resistant decentralized state estimation(SE) problem for a class of wide-area power systems which are divided into several non-overlapping areas connected through transmission lines. Two classes of measurements(i.e., local measurements and edge measurements) are obtained, respectively, from the individual area and the transmission lines. A decentralized state estimator, whose performance is resistant against measurement with anomalies, is designed based on the minimum error entropy with fiducial points(MEEF) criterion. Specifically, 1) An augmented model, which incorporates the local prediction and local measurement, is developed by resorting to the unscented transformation approach and the statistical linearization approach;2) Using the augmented model, an MEEF-based cost function is designed that reflects the local prediction errors of the state and the measurement;and 3) The local estimate is first obtained by minimizing the MEEF-based cost function through a fixed-point iteration and then updated by using the edge measuring information. Finally, simulation experiments with three scenarios are carried out on the IEEE 14-bus system to illustrate the validity of the proposed anomaly-resistant decentralized SE scheme.

The article discusses the theoretical foundations of the design of a single-channel ultrahigh frequency moisture meter with direct measurement of the moisture content of bulk materials. In accordance with the requirements of the methodology for selecting efficiency criteria, it is necessary to develop structural diagrams of measuring devices. For these purposes, the standard deviation of the random error is determined, characterizing the accuracy. It includes the main components: sensitivity error, zero error and additive component. Mathematical models of structures are constructed and the standard deviation of random errors, which are caused by certain parameters and additive fluctuations, is calculated. A single-parameter ultrahigh-frequency method for determining the moisture content is proposed. This method provides high accuracy of a single-channel ultrahigh frequency moisture meter with direct measurement of the moisture content of bulk materials. The measuring device can be used in the agricultural industry, where humidity is one of the important parameters, starting with harvesting and ending with the release of finished products.

The paper presents a family of novel light blob shape descriptors for use in selected active safety algorithms used in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). One of the motivations was to obtain a descriptor that would ensure low computational complexity. This makes it easy to implement both in software and hardware. One assumption is that the location of the center of a given light spot is approximately known. The principle of its operation is then to count white pixels in selected directions, starting from this central point. A key issue here is an efficient way of determining indexes of particular pixels belonging to the image patch, as well as the location of points representing places where the white area turns into black. In the case of a hardware implementation, this can be done using a parallel circuit operating in asynchronous mode, without the need for a control clock. © 2023 IEEE.

Multi-scale discriminative regions attention network for fine-grained vehicle classification

Fine-grained vehicle classification is a challenging task in computer vision due to the low intra-class variance. Some methods have been developed to improve the accuracy of fine-grained vehicle classification by improving the ability of discriminative features extraction, but there is still room for further improvement in the localization accuracy of vehicle discriminative regions. Based on deep convolutional neural networks, we focus on finding a more efficient structure that pays more attention to the discriminative image regions to enhance the ability of fine-grained vehicle classification. We propose a novel Multi-Scale Discriminative Regions Attention Network (MS-DRAN), which extracts feature maps through ResNet-50 backbone network and generates multi-scale feature maps by a Feature Pyramid Network (FPN). Then, MS-DRAN generates discriminative regions attention maps on the multi-scale feature maps. The attention maps from shallow layer perform pixel-level multiplication with the feature maps from deeper layer. By this way, the network gradually extracts a more discriminating feature maps for classification. We also design a multi-task loss function to associate the classification results for each scale and optimize the network parameter in training. Lastly, we validate the MS-DRAN on Stanford Cars-196 dataset and CompCars dataset and achieves 94.3% and 98.1% in accuracy, respectively. ©2021 ISSN 2414-8105 (Online).
