Decentralized autonomous organizations(DAOs) enabled by blockchain and smart contracts is regarded as an effective tool to solve corporate governance problems. It can minimize the contract risks, principal-agent dilemmas, and other issues in corporate governance. However, DAOs also face a variety of governance issues, such as internal governance issues and external governance issues caused by the technical attributes of blockchain and smart contracts. DAO is a typical complex system with the characteristics of both social and engineering complexity. It is difficult for existing governance theories to solve governance problems in DAOs. The parallel intelligence theory based on the artificial systems + computational experiments + parallel execution (ACP) method is a suitable research and practical approach to solve management and control problems for complex systems. Therefore, we propose a parallel governance framework for DAO based on the parallel intelligence theory and discuss its key research issues. Finally, we construct a parallel governance system for GnosisDAO, and conduct computational experiments on its voting mechanism. The results show the defects of GnosisDAO governance mechanism and we thus propose further research directions. We consider that parallel governance represents the future trend of DAO research and practice. This paper is aimed at stimulating further effort and providing helpful guidance and reference for future research works. © 2021 IEEE.

Open-Vocabulary Affordance Detection using Knowledge Distillation and Text-Point Correlation

Affordance detection presents intricate challenges and has a wide range of robotic applications. Previous works have faced limitations such as the complexities of 3D object shapes, the wide range of potential affordances on real-world objects, and the lack of open-vocabulary support for affordance understanding. In this paper, we introduce a new open-vocabulary affordance detection method in 3D point clouds, leveraging knowledge distillation and text-point correlation. Our approach employs pre-trained 3D models through knowledge distillation to enhance feature extraction and semantic understanding in 3D point clouds. We further introduce a new text-point correlation method to learn the semantic links between point cloud features and open-vocabulary labels. The intensive experiments show that our approach outperforms previous works and adapts to new affordance labels and unseen objects. Notably, our method achieves the improvement of 7.96% mIOU score compared to the baselines. Furthermore, it offers real-time inference which is well-suitable for robotic manipulation applications. © 2023, CC BY-NC-SA.

In this paper, we study unconstrained distributed optimization strongly convex problems, in which the exchange of information in the network is captured by a directed graph topology over digital channels that have limited capacity (and hence information should be quantized). Distributed methods in which nodes use quantized communication yield a solution at the proximity of the optimal solution, hence reaching an error floor that depends on the quantization level used; the finer the quantization the lower the error floor. However, it is not possible to determine in advance the optimal quantization level that ensures specific performance guarantees (such as achieving an error floor below a predefined threshold). Choosing a very small quantization level that would guarantee the desired performance, requires information packets of very large size, which is not desirable (could increase the probability of packet losses, increase delays, etc) and often not feasible due to the limited capacity of the channels available. In order to obtain a communication-efficient distributed solution and a sufficiently close proximity to the optimal solution, we propose a quantized distributed optimization algorithm that converges in a finite number of steps and is able to adjust the quantization level accordingly. The proposed solution uses a finite-time distributed optimization protocol to find a solution to the problem for a given quantization level in a finite number of steps and keeps refining the quantization level until the difference in the solution between two successive solutions with different quantization levels is below a certain pre-specified threshold. Therefore, the proposed algorithm progressively refines the quantization level, thus eventually achieving low error floor with a reduced communication burden. The performance gains of the proposed algorithm are demonstrated via illustrative examples.

Aiming at the problem of overestimation and sparse rewards of deep Q network algorithm in mobile robot path planning in reinforcement learning, an improved algorithm HERDDQN is proposed. Through the deep convolutional neural network model, the original RGB image is used as input, and it is trained through an end-to-end method. The improved deep reinforcement learning algorithm and the deep Q network algorithm are simulated in the same two-dimensional environment. The experimental results show that the HERDDQN algorithm solves the problem of overestimation and sparse reward better than the DQN algorithm in terms of success rate and reward convergence speed, Which shows that the improved algorithm finds a better strategy than the DQN algorithm. © 2021 institute of Physics Publishing. We propose a novel sampled-data output-feedback controller for nonlinear systems of arbitrary relative degree that ensures reference tracking within prescribed error bounds. We provide explicit bounds on the maximum input signal and the required uniform sampling time. A key strength of this approach is its capability to serve as a safety filter for various learning-based controller designs, enabling the use of learning techniques in safety-critical applications. We illustrate its versatility by integrating it with two different controllers: a reinforcement learning controller and a non-parametric predictive controller based on Willems et al.’s fundamental lemma. Currently, Photovoltaic (PV) technology has higher demand in the market and gaining momentum day by day. However, partial shading is the most significant concern as it reduces the efficiency of standalone PV systems. Partially shading is typically induced by non-uniform sunlight and uncertain temperature fluctuations. The maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithms play a major role in determining the overall system's efficiency. The PV system creates several peaks in its power voltage (P-V) characteristic curve under partial shadowing. To make the PV system run under partial shading at global maximum power point (GMPP), the dragonfly optimization (DFO) algorithm is put forward in this research article. The proposed DFO technique and other commonly used MPPT techniques, such as Particle swarm optimization (PSO), Perturb and Observe (PO), is investigated through theoretical analysis and simulation using Matlab/Simulink to authenticate the overall performance of the DFO approach under partial shading. Furthermore, the comparison demonstrates that the suggested DFO strategy provides very high reliability, efficiency, robustness, rapid power tracking and lower response time to trace the GMPP than PSO and PO techniques. Hence, the DFO technique's overall performance under partial shading is appropriate and satisfying. © 2021 IEEE.

Natural swarms have inspired various controlling algorithms for swarm robotics, while few of them were programmed in a similar way as the natural swarms. Defining a reliable programming method is still a daunting challenge in swarm robotics. In nature, the information of 3D protein structure is programmed in the sequence of amino acids of the protein. To mimic the programming method of protein folding, we present a platform for investigating protein-folding inspired programming method for robot swarms. This platform includes three parts: a vibration machine, protein-like robot sequences, and recording devices. The preliminary results presented here demonstrated the effectiveness of this platform and the feasibility of protein-folding inspired programming method for robot swarms.

The problems associated with the operation of overhead power lines and ways of improving control over their condition with the help of UAVs are considered. A structural diagram of the system of technical diagnostics of overhead lines based on UAVs was developed, for which the necessary diagnostic parameters were selected according to informative criteria. An analysis of types of UAVs was carried out in order to determine their suitability and efficiency of use for diagnosing the condition of overhead lines.

Due to the inherent non-stationarity and individual differences present in electroencephalogram (EEG) signals, developing a generalizable model that performs well on new subjects is challenging in EEG-based emotion recognition. Most existing domain adaptation (DA) methods typically mitigate these discrepancies by aligning the marginal distributions of domain feature representations. However, when there is a significant difference in the class-conditional distribution between domain features and labels, the domain-invariant features learned by aligning marginal distributions may have limited discriminative ability for unlabeled target instances or even prove counterproductive. To address this issue, we propose a Neighborhood Semantic Aware Learning-based Dynamic Graph Attention Convolution (NSAL-DGAT) approach that learns target semantic information by considering the inter-domain semantic topological structure, thereby improving classifier adaptation for target instances. Specifically, the proposed NSAL framework is designed to capitalize on the insight that after domain feature alignment, some target samples and their neighboring source samples exhibit similar semantics. By leveraging the neighborhood topological structure, we extract and incorporate semantic target features to train a more transferable classifier. Besides, we implement an entropy weighting mechanism to emphasize representative target semantic information, encouraging target instances to prioritize high-confidence individuals within the source neighborhood. We have conducted extensive experiments on the public SEED dataset and our collected the Hearing-Impaired EEG Dataset (HIED). The experimental results underscore the efficacy of our proposed NSAL-DGAT approach, showcasing state-of-the-art accuracy in subject-dependent as well as subject-independent scenarios. The efficient operation of HVAC&R systems are based on keeping indoor temperature and air quality at an optimum level without disturbing comfort. Starting from this point, in this experimental research, the factors affecting the measurement accuracy during the room temperature detection of a wall mount fan coil thermostat were examined. Among the external effects, the effect of the device components on the measurement was focused and the solution of the measurement deviations occurred in this extent was investigated. Based on the experiments, the algorithm that must be applied to reach the optimum temperature measurement of a room thermostat developed for Fan Coil systems was proposed.
