Social Event Detection (SED) aims to identify significant events from social streams, and has a wide application ranging from public opinion analysis to risk management. In recent years, Graph Neural Network (GNN) based solutions have achieved state-of-the-art performance. However, GNN-based methods often struggle with missing and noisy edges between messages, affecting the quality of learned message embedding. Moreover, these methods statically initialize node embedding before training, which, in turn, limits the ability to learn from message texts and relations simultaneously. In this paper, we approach social event detection from a new perspective based on Pre-trained Language Models (PLMs), and present RPLM (Relational prompt-based Pre-trained Language Models for Social Event Detection). We first propose a new pairwise message modeling strategy to construct social messages into message pairs with multi-relational sequences. Secondly, a new multi-relational prompt-based pairwise message learning mechanism is proposed to learn more comprehensive message representation from message pairs with multi-relational prompts using PLMs. Thirdly, we design a new clustering constraint to optimize the encoding process by enhancing intra-cluster compactness and inter-cluster dispersion, making the message representation more distinguishable. We evaluate the RPLM on three real-world datasets, demonstrating that the RPLM model achieves state-of-the-art performance in offline, online, low-resource, and long-tail distribution scenarios for social event detection tasks. Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a severe ocular complication of diabetes that can lead to vision damage and even blindness. Currently, traditional deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) used for DR grading tasks face two primary challenges: (1) insensitivity to minority classes due to imbalanced data distribution, and (2) neglecting the relationship between the left and right eyes by utilizing the fundus image of only one eye for training without differentiating between them. To tackle these challenges, we proposed the DRGCNN (DR Grading CNN) model. To solve the problem caused by imbalanced data distribution, our model adopts a more balanced strategy by allocating an equal number of channels to feature maps representing various DR categories. Furthermore, we introduce a CAM-EfficientNetV2-M encoder dedicated to encoding input retinal fundus images for feature vector generation. The number of parameters of our encoder is 52.88 M, which is less than RegNet_y_16gf (80.57 M) and EfficientNetB7 (63.79 M), but the corresponding kappa value is higher. Additionally, in order to take advantage of the binocular relationship, we input fundus retinal images from both eyes of the patient into the network for features fusion during the training phase. We achieved a kappa value of 86.62% on the EyePACS dataset and 86.16% on the Messidor-2 dataset. Experimental results on these representative datasets for diabetic retinopathy (DR) demonstrate the exceptional performance of our DRGCNN model, establishing it as a highly competitive intelligent classification model in the field of DR. Cloud manufacturing system is a service-oriented and knowledge-based one, which can provide solutions for the large-scale customized production. The service resource allocation is the primary factor that restricts the production time and cost in the cloud manufacturing customized production (CMCP). In order to improve the efficiency and reduce the cost in CMCP, we propose a new framework which considers the collaboration among services with the same functionality. A mathematical evaluation formulation for the service composition and service usage scheme is constructed with the following critical indexes: completion time, cost, and number of selected services. Subsequently, a problem decomposition based genetic algorithm is designed to obtain the optimal service compositions with service usage schemes. A smart clothing customization case is illustrated so as to show the effectiveness and efficiency of the method proposed in this paper. Finally, the results of simulation experiments and comparisons show that these solutions obtained by our method are with the minimum time, a lower cost, and the fewer selected services. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

We present an extended comparison of contextualized language models for Hungarian. We compare huBERT, a Hungarian model against 4 multilingual models including the multilingual BERT model. We evaluate these models through three tasks, morphological probing, POS tagging and NER. We find that huBERT works better than the other models, often by a large margin, particularly near the global optimum (typically at the middle layers). We also find that huBERT tends to generate fewer subwords for one word and that using the last subword for token-level tasks is generally a better choice than using the first one. We model a platooning system including trucks and a third-party service provider that performs platoon coordination, distributes the platooning profit within platoons, and charges the trucks in exchange for its services. This paper studies one class of pricing rules, where the third-party service provider keeps part of the platooning profit each time a platoon is formed. Furthermore, we propose a platoon coordination solution based on distributed model predictive control in which the pricing rule is integrated. To evaluate the effect of the pricing on the platooning system, we perform a simulation over the Swedish road network. The simulation shows that the platooning rate and profit highly depend on the pricing. This suggests that pricing needs to be set carefully to obtain a satisfactory platooning system in the future.

Recent transformer-based methods for estimating 3D human pose have gained widespread attention, achieving state-of-the-art results. Previous methods have primarily focused on capturing motion patterns of the human body at a single scale or cascading multiple scales, such as joints, bones, and body-parts. However, they are difficult to simultaneously capture spatial-temporal motion patterns of the human body at different scales due to the complex motion patterns. To address this issue, we propose Dual-scale Spatial and Temporal transFormer (DSTFormer), which can concurrently explore the spatial dependencies and temporal motion patterns of human joints and bones. Additionally, we introduce a Gcn-Spatial Transformer Block (GSTB), which introduces Graph Convolutional Networks (GCN) into transformer to enhance the exploitation of local relationships and global information between adjacent joints or bones. Extensive experiments are conducted on the Human3.6M benchmark dataset, and superior results are reported when comparing to other state-of-the-art methods. More remarkably, our model achieves to-date the best published performance, with P1 errors of 37.9 mm and 15.6 mm, respectively.

This paper investigates stealthy attacks on sampled-data control systems, where a continuous process is sampled periodically, and the resultant discrete output and control signals are transmitted through dual channels in wireless communication networks. Acknowledging the vulnerability of these transmitted data to cyber threats, we analyze two types of stealthy attacks that compromise either one or both channels. We explicitly present the necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of stealthy single-channel attacks. To mitigate these security risks, we implement encryption-based countermeasures, including linear time-invariant and periodic encryption methods. We detail sufficient conditions under which these encryption strategies effectively thwart single- and dual-channel stealthy attacks. The effectiveness of these approaches and the theoretical findings are demonstrated through numerical simulations. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Consensus in multi-agent dynamical systems is prone to be sabotaged by the adversary, which has attracted much attention due to its key role in broad applications. In this paper, we study a new false data injection (FDI) attack design problem, where the adversary with limited capability aims to select a subset of agents and manipulate their local multi-dimensional states to maximize the consensus convergence error. We first formulate the FDI attack design problem as a combinatorial optimization problem and prove it is NP-hard. Then, based on the submodularity optimization theory, we show the convergence error is a submodular function of the set of the compromised agents, which satisfies the property of diminishing marginal returns. In other words, the benefit of adding an extra agent to the compromised set decreases as that set becomes larger. With this property, we exploit the greedy scheme to find the optimal compromised agent set that can produce the maximum convergence error when adding one extra agent to that set each time. Thus, the FDI attack set selection algorithms are developed to obtain the near-optimal subset of the compromised agents. Furthermore, we derive the analytical suboptimality bounds and the worst-case running time under the proposed algorithms. Precise calibration is the basis for the vision-guided robot system to achieve high-precision operations. Systems with multiple eyes (cameras) and multiple hands (robots) are particularly sensitive to calibration errors, such as micro-assembly systems. Most existing methods focus on the calibration of a single unit of the whole system, such as poses between hand and eye, or between two hands. These methods can be used to determine the relative pose between each unit, but the serialized incremental calibration strategy cannot avoid the problem of error accumulation in a large-scale system. Instead of focusing on a single unit, this paper models the multi-eye and multi-hand system calibration problem as a graph and proposes a method based on the minimum spanning tree and graph optimization. This method can automatically plan the serialized optimal calibration strategy in accordance with the system settings to get coarse calibration results initially. Then, with these initial values, the closed-loop constraints are introduced to carry out global optimization. Simulation experiments demonstrate the performance of the proposed algorithm under different noises and various hand-eye configurations.
