In batch pulp cooking the heating steam is used only in some phases of the technological procedure. This causes large variations in steam now-rate and imposes high dynamic load at the steam generation plant. In the paper,a system for smooth steam consumption control is presented. It is based on three multiloop microprocessor-based controllers. The designed control structure is simple enough to be implemented as a stand-alone small-sized control system. Also, it provides a low-cost solution by eliminating the need to measure the steam now-rate on each digester. After the installation a reduction of 70% in steam now-rate variance was measured.

The paper presents a method for software specification in the domain of industrial process control. As a result of ever more demanding applications, particularly in the area of PLC based control, there is an emerging need for introducing methods that include an appropriate conceptual model and define the specification process. An approach to the method development is presented, based on an architectural extension of the Ward-Mellor structured real time software engineering method. The core of the method is a conceptual model of the equipment control specification, which consists of two essential parts: the first is that of process equipment entities, and the second is the functional part. The former is further decomposed in relation to two aspects of the process equipment entities: the structural aspect and the classification aspect. In order to make the conceptual model more clear some segments of the real process control application dealing with the hydrolysis process in the production of TiO2 are given. This paper focuses on the optimal output synchronization control problem of heterogeneous multiagent systems(HMASs) subject to nonidentical communication delays by a reinforcement learning *** with existing studies assuming that the precise model of the leader is globally or distributively accessible to all or some of the followers, the leader's precise dynamical model is entirely inaccessible to all the followers in this paper. A data-based learning algorithm is first proposed to reconstruct the leader's unknown system matrix online. A distributed predictor subject to communication delays is further devised to estimate the leader's state, where interaction delays are allowed to be nonidentical. Then, a learning-based local controller, together with a discounted performance function, is projected to reach the optimal output synchronization. Bellman equations and game algebraic Riccati equations are constructed to learn the optimal solution by developing a model-based reinforcement learning(RL) algorithm online without solving regulator equations, which is followed by a model-free off-policy RL algorithm to relax the requirement of all agents' dynamics faced by the model-based RL algorithm. The optimal tracking control of HMASs subject to unknown leader dynamics and communication delays is shown to be solvable under the proposed RL algorithms. Finally, the effectiveness of theoretical analysis is verified by numerical simulations.

The paper is devoted to creation of the simulation system for investigation of control methods with complex spatial movements of the autonomous underwater vehicle. The principle of a virtual reality and simulation of the basic systems of the vehicle is put in a basis of the system. The structure of the system and the scheme of its operation are described. The use of the optical information for the purposes of navigation was underlined. The model of a virtual optical range finder with use of a vehicle's trajectory correction method and algorithm of restoration of 3D points of the underwater environment are offered. The algorithm provides dense 3D covering with restoration of normal-vectors of surfaces from three consecutive calibrated images. Results of computing experiments for synthetic scenes of different depth are presented. The future works aimed to development of methods and algorithms AUV trajectories planning according to sonar and video data with taking its mission into account.

This paper describes a software simulator used in the development of control algorithms for the pulp cooking process. The laboratory-type simulator has been built up, based on the same control system hardware and software already installed in an industrial plant. The simulator itself emulates some operator control actions, the behavior of typical pulp cooking process variables and important signals from the process equipment. The simulation can be performed in real time or in two different accelerated modes. In this paper, the background of the simulator is also introduced and a discussion of advantages, based on experience, is attached at the end.
